Mizuno Acrostrike 305 Racquet Review
Summary
Mizuno dives headfirst into the control-oriented racquet landscape with the precise, yet powerful, Acrostrike 305. Its impressive performance and surprising versatility made this racquet an instant hit with our team. The Acrostrike 305 uses a tried-and-true recipe for its specifications, namely a 98-square-inch head, a 16x19 string pattern and a 305-gram (10.8-ounce) unstrung weight. Building on those base specs, Mizuno implements its Dual Spring construction to facilitate energy return, while the Enerzy beam construction ups the power access. Additionally, Mizuno's grommeting system is designed to create more string movement for better spin and snapback. Our team was shocked by how playable this racquet is, especially when it came to how much pop they could generate on a variety of shots. The Acrostrike 305's blend of precision, comfort and spin made it a delight from all areas of the court, letting all of our playtesters play to their strengths. Although individual nitpicks varied, the team could not come up with a universal downside, and the racquet earned high marks from everyone for its performance. For those who want control without sacrificing other playing characteristics, the Acrostrike 305 is a must-hit racquet.
Surprising power for a control silo
Excellent comfort and feel
Very well-balanced design and performance
No universal dislikes

Breakdown
Groundstrokes: 8.9
When rallying from the baseline, our hitters praised the Acrostrike 305 for its well-rounded nature, and they felt comfortable blasting heavy drives or going for touch shots. The Acrostrike 305 thoroughly impressed Jason. He explained, "The Acrostrike 305 offered a really great combination of power, control and spin. That may sound a bit cliche, but I think it applies perfectly to the Acrostrike 305. I thought it played similarly to my Babolat Pure Aero 98, and my Zenniz data confirmed it. I was getting similar spin and speed numbers from the baseline."
The Acrostrike 305 offered Munish a great deal of versatility, although he’d prefer to try it with a softer or more powerful string setup. He said, "This was an odd one for me because the Acrostrike 305 favored my backhand more than my forehand. I wasn't hitting any more winners than I typically would, but my shots were landing a lot more consistently off the backhand wing, and it seemed like it was harder to attack than usual. I wasn't getting a whole lot of spin generation from the racquet itself, and the launch angle seemed a bit low. However, the maneuverability of the frame made up for it because I could add tons of racquet head speed. I would like to try softer strings with this frame, or a lower tension, to get a bit more power from my setup, but overall I really liked this racquet on my groundstrokes."
Oak found great all-around capability with the Acrostrike 305, and he liked that it didn't compromise in any area of performance. He described, "The Mizuno Acrostrike 305 is one of my favorite racquets to play with currently, and I am contemplating a switch to it. This racquet truly feels like it does it all from any area of the court. I get great spin, power, feel and control on both on my one-handed and two-handed backhands. The connection to the ball and the comfort were excellent, and my forehand had surprisingly good reliability with this racquet! Per my Zenniz data, I was getting high consistency, spin and depth. Slices were silky smooth, and I loved how much sideways action I could get on the ball when slicing. The racquet definitely emphasized control over power, but I didn't have any issues with generating pace. There was good stability against heavier pace, and it was still plenty maneuverable."
"I liked that I could swing out without much fear of overhitting thanks to the great access to spin."
Troy thought the Acrostrike 305 felt easy to swing and easy to use for whatever shot he desired. He said, "In terms of maneuverability, the Acrostrike 305 felt similar to the Head Speed Tour 2026 and the Tecnifibre TFight 305S. Compared to the racquet specs I usually play with, this Acrostrike 305 felt pretty easy to swing. If anything, the balance felt a little high up on the racquet, so I would be tail-weighting it for certain. The feel on contact is really plush without being too flexy or unstable. The feel is slightly muted, but that was OK because I had no issues with control or the unwanted spraying of the ball. I also found easy bite on the ball and access to topspin, so I could work the angles cross court with ease. It's a really good racquet from the baseline; I would just beef it up a bit with weight."
Volleys: 8.5
For most of our team, the Acrostrike 305 felt quite stable and plush at net, offering good feel and the ability to absorb heavier pace when under fire. The racquet gave Troy a soft and stable response, but he noted that some additional weight would make it more to his liking balance-wise. He explained, "I found a plush feel and good stability when volleying. As I mentioned on groundstrokes, I felt like the balance was off for my liking, so a more head-light feel would make this racquet better for me. Other than that, I felt like I had pretty good control, and my feel and placement of the ball were pretty good. I wouldn't say this is the most precise racquet I have volleyed with, but the overall control is good. This Acrostrike 305 felt relatively stable on contact when I was facing big hitters, so I think adding some weight would make it feel even more impressive, more like a player's spec."
Oak had no qualms at net with the Acrostrike 305. He said, "The Acrostrike 305's great feel continued to make itself known at net. I felt connected to the ball, and the overall feel was cushioned without being overly muted. I liked going for short, angled volleys as well as deeper volleys. I honestly felt comfortable going for whatever kind of volley the situation demanded. Overheads were fun to slam down, and I loved how the racquet performed on stretch volleys."
Munish experienced some instability at net, but he was still able to mix in good variety and use all of the court when volleying. He described, "I faced some stability issues at net. The racquet would buckle every time I hit even a bit off center, and the ball would be in the net. Besides that, I was still able to hit my spots and add variety to my volleys, including sneaky drop volleys once in a while. The feel is somewhat muted, but nothing that I didn't like or wished was different."
Jason felt like the Acrostrike 305 let him volley with relative ease. He said, "The Acrostrike 305 felt really solid up at net. I felt like the Acrostrike 305 held up very well even when I was blocking shots back against bigger hitters. It had a plush feel to it, which was nice on mis-hits, but I was left wanting a bit more feel and connection with my shots."
Serves: 8.9
Serving proved to be one of the strongest areas of performance in this playtest. The Acrospeed 305 offered our team great control but also more pace than most expected. Jason was hitting his serves with confidence, and was able to create good shape while also hitting a high percentage of serves in. He said, "I was serving pretty big with this Acrostrike 305 -- not as big as I was with the Acrospeed 300 but not too far off. I like the spin I was able to get on my second serves. It really helped with their effectiveness, and my serve percentage."
Munish was able to use his serve to set himself up for success early in points. He said, "I loved the Acrospeed 305 on serves. Not because I was getting any free points or anything, but my ability to pick my spots and construct points was amazing. My kick serves did take a slight hit. I didn't feel like they were very 'jumpy' off of the bounce, but I was still able to hit my spots and get the point going. My T flat serve from the ad side is definitely my favorite serve to hit with the Acrostrike 305."
Oak had a great time serving with the Acrostrike 305, and he got more pace more consistently with this racquet than perhaps ever before. He explained, "This thing is such a beast on serves. I felt like I could comfortably attack with my first serves and be rewarded with extra spin and pace. For the first time in my life, I felt like I could consistently drop in serves at 100-plus mph and trust that the ball would go in. My favorite serve had to be up the T on ad side."
"Despite the Acrostrike 305 being a control-oriented racquet, my biggest takeaway was how much pop I was getting from the frame on serve."
Troy was getting plenty of spin and ultra-precise targeting, which he was able to use to great effect. He described, "I had good control and easy access to spin on my serves. I could generate a lot of spin on my topspin and kick serves, and I was also pleased with the amount of pop I found. I felt like some of my best serves with this racquet were my slice and kick, especially since I could place them right in the corners of the service box. The combination of heavy spin and precision was a deadly blend (not trying to toot my own horn or anything). There was a good balance of control and power. The power didn't come as easily as it did with the Acrospeed 300, but for a control frame, the power was noticeable. I could crank up the racquet head speed pretty easily to get some added mphs on my flat first serves."
Returns: 8.7
Every tester found success hitting offensive and defensive returns with the Acrostrike 305. Troy continued to find stability and comfort, along with good versatility. He said, "The Acrostrike 305 is solid, stable and plush. When I faced some big hitting servers, like Michelle or Munish getting it up above 100 mph, this racquet absorbed the pace and didn't give me any unwanted shock on my arms. I could take a big rip on my forehand returns, and I had easy net clearance and good control. I would have liked a bit more plow through on my backhand returns; either giving the racquet some more swingweight or trying this racquet in a 27.5-inch length might do the trick. I used my slice and chip returns pretty well for the most part, but I think a little more mass in the racquet would give me a more solid feel and plow through."
The Acrostrike 305 worked seamlessly for Oak's preferred style of returning. He said, "Returns were also a delight with this racquet. I found good spot targeting to go after aggressive targets, and I felt confident aiming deeper in the court to take time away from the server. There was neither too much power nor too much control. I felt confident absorbing and redirecting pace when returning first serves, and against seconds I enjoyed attacking the ball more. The Acrostrike 305 never felt too slow, and I loved how solid and stable it felt throughout the swing.”
Munish was able to return both offensively and defensively despite encountering some of the stability concerns he found earlier. He explained, "I was confident enough to swing into the ball when the serves were a bit slower or when returning second serves. I also faced some stability issues on returns, so I wasn't trying anything too fancy or super angled. This Acrostrike 305 is controlled yet powerful enough for me to really clock slower backhand returns and trust the ball would land in. The maneuverability of this racquet definitely shone through on returns."
Jason found his groove quickly with the Acrostrike 305, and easy depth and plenty of spin made his returns effective. He said, "I thought this Acrostrike 305 did great on both offensive and defensive returns. I was really able to attack and hit a penetrating return when I had the chance to swing out, and when I could only block or chip a ball back, I was able to do so with plenty of spin and depth. A bit more feel would've been helpful for hitting short, angled returns or drop shot returns, but I really shouldn't be hitting those anyways."

Playtester Thoughts

Jason
This Acrostrike 305's on-court performance reminds me a lot of my Babolat Pure Aero 98 2026, as well as the old Babolat Pure Strike (Project One7) model.
I like just about everything here. I am very impressed with this Acrostrike 305 from all areas of the court.
I would've liked a bit more feel. Maybe it’s the slightly lower RA or the layup construction.

I think my Wilson RF 01 Pro is a bit more powerful than the Acrostrike 305, but they're within the same realm. There's easy power but also enough control to go for sharper angles or smaller targets. If I had to compare the Acrostrike 305 to a racquet I'm currently testing, it would easily be the Wilson Blade 98 18x20 v10. If anything, I'd say the Acrostrike 305 sits between the Blade and the RF 01 for me.
I love that the Acrostrike 305 is a modern-day control frame. I'm able to pick my spots and be aggressive, but the frame also has ample free power for me to go for bigger targets with a bigger shot.
I love how obedient this racquet is without sacrificing in another area of performance. Such incredible all-around feel, and I love it on serve.

Oak
This Mizuno Acrostrike 305 is one of the nicest 98-square-inch frames I've tried in a long time. I loved the blend of comfort and feel, and the racquet never felt all that underpowered to me. This Acrostrike 305 felt really similar to my Prince ATS Textreme Tour 98, which is probably at least partly why I liked it so much. Like Troy mentioned in our video review, the Acrostrike 305 falls nicely in between the Babolat Pure Strike 98 16x19 and the Wilson Blade 98 16x19. This racquet has me seriously considering a switch to it. If it had a slightly denser pattern, like a 16x20 or 18x19 or 20, I would likely switch in a heartbeat.
I love how obedient this racquet is without sacrificing in another area of performance. Such incredible all-around feel, and I love it on serve.
No major dislikes other than a slightly confusing name.

Troy
The dampening and the feel of this Acrostrike 305 are somewhat in line with racquets like the CX 200 from Dunlop and the TF40 from Tecnifibre. I would also compare it to a racquet like the Head Radical Tour, but with more power and spin, and the Babolat Pure Strike 98 16x19, but with a little more comfort and feel.
Really good comfort and dampening, and there is good control with easy access to spin from the 16x19 string pattern. I will also note that for being more of a control frame, there is a nice pop on the ball.
Not much to dislike here. I would have liked to try a heavier version (maybe like 315 grams), or an extended 27.5-inch version, which is more in line with the extended-length racquet that I use as my racquet of choice.
