Best Head Racquet for Me

Featuring a family for every kind of player ranging from traditional to modern, HEAD's impressive lineup truly caters to all.
16 min read

Head is one of the largest and most prolific racquet brands. With a history spanning over half a century, Head has produced racquets for some of the greatest players in the history of the sport. The current line of racquets has something for everyone, from beginners seeking comfort and power to advanced players seeking control and feel.

Speed

The fast swinging Speeds offer the best of both worlds and are a good fit for all-court players looking for control, power and spin. Endorsed by one of the best players on the ATP Tour, Novak Djokovic, they offer the speed and spin of a modern player's racquet. The majority of the line features thinner, more flexible beams, giving them great control and feel. In addition, there are even lighter, more explosive options for beginners or anyone seeking easier access to depth. This family has racquets for all levels of players looking for a quick-swinging racquet enhanced with control.

Speed Pro

"I felt connected to my shots, and I found the stringbed to be very forgiving and stable at impact no matter the speed I was swinging or how fast the ball was coming to me. This Speed Pro has a great balance of maneuverability and plow through, which allowed me to put balls away confidently while still being able to find angles and get around the ball."

-Michelle, TW Playtester

The Speed Pro is one of those contemporary frames that will likely appeal to traditionalists and modern players alike. It blends a 310-gram unstrung weight with a forgiving 100 square-inch head size and a control-oriented 18x20 string pattern for more control off the string bed. This frame is well-loved here at Tennis Warehouse, with an internal affinity for how it plays going back several generations. Its higher weight and swingweight give it extra heft and stability through the shot, and the 18x20 string pattern makes this otherwise powerful frame fairly precise. For higher levels players who crave that extra surface area from their string bed without losing precision, the Speed Pro is one of the best options out there.

Speed MP

"I could stay low through the ball easily on my backhand, and I loved the depth I was getting with the Speed MP 2026 even when I aimed for a lower net clearance."

-Oak, TW Playtester

The HEAD Speed MP offers one of the most well-rounded hitting experiences out there, with ample power, good spin, and a reliable, control-oriented nature thanks to a box-like beam construction. The racquet uses the evergreen 16x19 string pattern, 100 square-inch head size, and 300-gram unstrung weight to good effect, which allows for excellent versatility and high levels of reliability. Improving connection to the ball is HEAD's Hy-Bor layup, which gives the racquet a crisper feel at contact without decreasing overall comfort. Overall, this racquet is one that is hard to go wrong with, offering something for everyone across a variety of levels.

Speed Tour

"I felt like I could control the ball with net clearance and spin when I took a full swing on a forehand or backhand."

-Troy, TW Playtester

A new addition to the family, the Speed Tour offers an increasingly rare 97 square-inch head size in a modern, 305-gram unstrung package. Despite being a smaller head size with a standard 16x19 string pattern, our team was downright shocked at how much spin this frame inherently produces on every shot. Per our on-court Zenniz monitoring system, this Speed Tour was one of the most (if not the most) spin-friendly racquets we tested in 2026. Maneuverability was also quite high, as was the control and precision sourced from the smaller head size. While this is a first-generation frame, the performance is more than up to scratch, leaving little to be desired from our testing team with this Speed Tour.

Gravity

Endorsed by several tour players, including Andrey Rublev and Lilli Tagger, the Gravity racquets offer good feel, targeting and have been made to let modern players attack and construct well thought-out points. From the Pro model, with its thin 20-mm beam, dense string pattern and rock solid stability to the Lite model, with its fast and user-friendly feel, the Gravity series has something for everybody. Each racquet in the series features Graphene 360+, which combines the stability and power of Graphene 360 with SpiralFibers in the lower portion of the head for optimal feel in addition to HEAD's Auxetic 2.0 construction for more connection to the ball. Now also available in an extended length MP XL, a rare offering from HEAD.

Gravity Tour

"The feel of the racquet is sublimely plush and silky smooth, and I loved the touch I had on my drop shots. When it came to driving the ball with topspin or slice, I found easy access to spin, which gave my shots plenty of shape."

-Chris, TW Playtester

The Gravity Tour is a new addition to HEAD's modern, control-focused family, and is currently the only flagship Gravity offering with a head size other than 100 square-inches. This 98 square-inch frame blends a 16x19 string pattern with a 305-gram weight, which is a fairly standard recipe for success. It departs from competitors in a similar class though with its flared-out hoop and geometry in the upper portion of the frame, offering a larger spin window and more forgiveness on off-center hits nearer the top of the racquet. It's similar to how YONEX uses their signature Isometric beam shape for more real estate away from the handles on their frames. This Gravity Tour seriously impressed our testers with its versatility and plentiful spin, letting them tee off comfortably from the baseline.

Gravity Pro

"I felt like I could hit my volleys on a dime. Because I was trying to end points aggressively, I would try to find a short ball to attack with purpose and follow it forward to put the ball away with a volley."

-Michelle, TW Playtester

The Gravity Pro seems like it was born from a bygone era of racquets. Its hefty 315-gram unstrung weight is met with a 100 square-inch hoop and an 18x20 string pattern, making this a soft, control-oriented frame. The Gravity Pro is a scalpel in the hands of those who like larger hoops without sacrificing control, and its excellent combination of power, spin, and control make it viable for many the advanced player, even up to the pro level for ATP stars like Andrey Rublev. Our team praised the rock-solid nature of this dependable hammer, noting its exceptional feel and control above all else, though it wasn't hurting in any particular area either. For fans of classic control and weight with modern flair and spin, the Gravity Pro is one of the best advanced options out there.

Gravity MP

"I thoroughly enjoyed hitting with this racquet from the baseline. It doesn't feel as whippy as the previous version, but I thought it was still fairly maneuverable."

-Jason, TW Playtester

The Gravity MP is a user-friendly, control-oriented option that still packs plenty of spin and power. This 295-gram frame uses a 16x20 string pattern to give its 100 square-inch hoop some additional control, which helps make this experience more well-rounded. While sub-300 gram frames are becoming increasingly viable for beginner/intermediate players, the Gravity MP is perhaps even more accessible to a variety of players and levels. This speedy frame has a 320+ swingweight, which makes it fairly stable despite the lighter weight. Overall, this racquet is a great option for newer players or for those who need an uptick in comfort without sacrificing performance.

Gravity MP XL

"I felt this racquet hid its length well in terms of being pretty maneuverable, but it gave me what I want from an extended-length frame, which is easy, manageable groundstroke power from its weight and length rather than from a stiff frame."

-Mark, TW Playtester

For the first time in almost two decades, HEAD offers a flagship extended-length racquet in the Gravity MP XL. This racquet uses a similar spec-profile to the MP, but, is noticeably heavier with its 305-gram unstrung weight compared to the MP's 295-gram weight. This racquet ups the overall power access of the Gravity experience due to its additional leverage. Despite a strung swingweight around 330, maneuverability is fairly good on this frame, largely in part due to a strung 8 points headlight balance. Our team was seriously captivated by how this extended-length frame let them lean into their respective playstyles.

Extreme

The Head Extreme racquets are ideal for big-swinging modern players looking to add loads of power, speed and spin to their game. Their thick, lively beams provide impressive stability and ensure players can load their shots with pace and get the ball hopping. Intermediates and advanced players looking to control the point will want to take note of this line of racquets.

Extreme Pro

"The blend of power and control was solid, and I also found a decent level of spin. The stability felt improved over the outgoing version."

-Chris, TW Playtester

The Extreme Pro has long been respected here at Tennis Warehouse for its overall excellent touch and feel, despite being positioned more so in a spin/power silo. It utilizes a tried-and-true spec combination of a 98 square-inch hoop, 16x19 string pattern, and a 305-gram unstrung weight. The Extreme Pro offers spin-based players a rarer type of feel and connection, which is further boosted by HEAD's new Hy-Bor layup.

Extreme MP

"I quickly found a rhythm on my groundstrokes with this Extreme MP 2026. I didn't find it too flighty or too powerful. The power level was good and controllable, and I could easily hit with depth or mix in a shorter, angled ball."

-Tiffani, TW Playtester

The Extreme MP is a spin-first, powerful experience from the baseline. It blends a 300-gram unstrung weight with a 16x19 string pattern and a 100 square-inch hoop, which is a guaranteed recipe usually for power. The Extreme MP's geometry emphasizes access to spin mechanics though, and is especially conducive for modern, more vertical swing paths. Our team found the updated version to feature increased connectivity to the ball with a slightly crisper sensation during contact.

Extreme MP XL

"I also noticed the light and fast feel; this racquet didn't really swing like it was extended. Another standout feature was the feel on contact, which felt medium-firm, but it also felt like there was pretty good dampening; it wasn't harsh or jarring."

-Troy, TW Playtester

Fans of extended-length racquets will likely rejoice at seeing another offering from HEAD in this new addition to the Extreme family. The Extreme MP XL utilizes a 27.5 inch length, a 300-gram unstrung weight, and a 16x19 string pattern. This racquet is fast for an extended-length frame, with a strung swingweight hovering under 330 around 325. Our team loved the versatility afforded to them on most every shot and found exceptional power as expected. The extra reach wasn't too cumbersome, and the hammer-like qualities on serve made this quite the weapon in doubles.

Boom

The HEAD Boom family combines impressive levels of power and spin with great feel and tendon-friendly comfort. These racquets have a large sweetspot and make creating spin feel easy. The Boom racquets are a great fit for players who want a plush feel paired with the easy power and spin needed fore the modern game. There are models to appeal to players from all levels. Available in a limited edition purple cosmetic as endorsed by Coco Gauff.

Boom Pro

"I really loved how stable and maneuverable it feels, with enough plow through to put balls away. I felt in command of the ball and was able to hit any shot I wanted."

-Michelle, TW Playtester

The Boom Pro is one of those racquets that offers the user incredible amounts of comfort, which makes going after and attacking any shot feel subsequently more doable. On top of its comfort-oriented nature, the Boom Pro utilizes a smaller head size of 98 square inches and a relatively higher static weight of 310 grams to give users more control and mass-based power. Its 16x19 string pattern produces ample spin, and across the board it proved viable for whipping up heavy topspin drives or carving up delicious drop shots. The racket proved surprisingly stable for our team and its reliable power access made baseline bashing a ton of fun. For a comfortable, yet precice option, consider the Boom Pro.

Boom MP

"This Boom MP 2026 felt great on serve, particularly my first serves. I felt confident swinging fast and going after the ball. It allowed me to generate good pace, especially on body serves, which was my favorite serve to hit with this racquet."

-Kyla, TW Playtester

Though considerably lighter than its Pro sibling, the Boom MP also proved impressive when it came to stability in stock form, despite the 295-gram unstrung weight. This frame pairs a 100 square-inch hoop with a 16x19 string pattern, so spin, power, and forgiveness are all entirely accessible from the frame. The Boom MP's elongated spin window due to its laterally expanded hoop offers more surface area to work with when inputting spin across the ball. Our team left this playtest pleasantly surprised, with most of the team agreeing that this latest version of the Boom MP was the most playable yet.

Squared

The Head Squared is one of the most unusual racquets to hit the market in quite some time. This ultra head-light racquet is designed to have peak maneuverability so that players still developing their strokes can have an easier time preparing for the ball. This racquet is pretty spin-friendly due to the 16x18 string pattern and packs a serious punch despite its 295-gram unstrung weight. Great for newer players and intermediates.

"My first hit I just smiled the entire time because it felt so different. The racquet felt soft, yet stable for its weight. It swung quickly, and so quickly that it took longer to adjust back to my own racquet than usual. I really loved drilling with this racquet and playing games."

-Tiffani, TW Playtester

"The Squared is an incredibly forgiving racquet to hit groundstrokes with. The racquet felt very easy to maneuver and I felt like I could rally with it all day long."

-Chris, TW Playtester

Radical

Blending speed, power and spin with above average control and feel, the Radical family of racquets are built for the modern player. The majority of Radicals come with dynamic 16x19 string patterns for a nice blend of power and control. They tend to have moderate flex ratings in the mid-60s, making them slightly more arm-friendly than your average modern player's racquet. Although the majority of Radicals are weighted for intermediate and advanced players, Head offers an "S" version for strong beginners or anyone who wants an ultra-maneuverable option. New to the Radical family is an 18x20 Tour model!

Radical MP

"I thought this new Radical MP had a nice blend of power, control and spin. It wasn't amazing in any particular category, but I did like how I played with it."

-Jason, TW Playtester

The HEAD Radical MP might just be the jack-of-all-trades when it comes to modern frames. Its 305-gram unstrung weight is paired (of course) with a 16x19 string pattern and a 98 square-inch head size, and when strung the swingweight was around 323, and the balance at 4 points headlight. This racquet truly does everything well. It has reliable spot-targeting due to a relatively denser concentration of mains in the center. It has ample spin production from the aerodynamics of the racquet and its overall open spacing across the string bed as a whole. It also has decent power access due to a thicker midsection beam. The Radical MP is one of those frames that truly is hard to go wrong with, seemingly offering something for everyone. For those who want a trustworthy experience that doesn't stray too far from what they're expecting, the Radical MP is about as dependable as it gets.

Radical Pro

"The power level of the Radical Pro is amazing. I had tons of put-away power, but that was only when I was able to swing it around in time."

-Munish, TW Playtester

At 315 grams unstrung, the Radical Pro is certainly a little more demanding than most frames in stock form. This 98 square-inch, 16x19 package offers easy power, good control from a denser drill pattern, and proves fairly fast through the air as well, despite the almost 330 strung swingweight. For those who like generating power via additional mass, the Radical Pro should be right up their alley. Our team appreciated the inherent stability from the frame, and experienced good power access across the board.

Radical Tour

"This Radical Tour is super precise, and I had amazing control of my shots. I also felt like I could swing out pretty hard from anywhere on the court, and I felt like I just could not miss!"

-Zsofi, TW Playtester

Officially endorsed by Taylor Fritz, the Radical Tour offers an 18x20 string pattern in a 305-gram, 98 square-inch head size package. This denser string bed is fairly dead in terms of response and offers excellent precision for reliable spot-targeting. In a more control-oriented silo, the Radical Tour ups the ante and asks more of its users in terms of generating their own power. The Radical Tour also proved adept at handling pace and remaining stable, letting our team comfortably change directions from the baseline.

Prestige

Perhaps the most iconic Head racquet line, Prestige racquets have long specialized in stability, control and feel, but they also have some options for those who want power and spin. Having evolved from the classic versions of the past, this modernized Prestige family provides answers for players who love the classic feel of the Prestiges of the past but now have a more modern game. These racquets are great for experienced intermediate and advanced players who value control and precision.

iPrestige MP 2.0

"I felt like it completely fixed my backhand and got my game back on track in a similar fashion that the RF 97 also demands correct form and footwork."

-Michelle, TW Playtester

Fans of ultra-heavy, dead, flexible, classic-feeling frames will love this blast from the past. HEAD's iPrestige MP 2.0 offers up a beefy 320 gram unstrung weight that certainly asks a lot of its wielders. Paired with a 95 square-inch head size and an 18x20 string pattern, this racquet rewards good technique, early preparation, and proper weight transfer. If you like a heavy-swinging club that offers reliable spot-targeting regardless of shot, the iPrestige MP 2.0 is about as classic as it gets.

Prestige MP Limited

"This racquet is phenomenal for going to approach the ball and coming to the net. You can swing out and still be confident that your ball is going to go in."

-Munish, TW Playtester

The Prestige MP Limited is a 300-gram, 16x19, 99 square-inch frame that has an exceptionally low-powered nature, making it reliably precise, if bit a little under-powered. As such it will ask more of you the user to make it viable, and will reward heavy cuts with lots of weight behind the shot. Those who hit big and want something to help bring the ball back down will like how the Prestige MP Limited reigns in power. Our team noted the lower-powered nature of this frame, but the also were keenly aware of its spin-friendly nature and high levels of maneuverability. This racquet would also make for an excellent platform frame.
