The Ki 5 continues its reign as one of the most arm-friendly player’s racquets available

Updated with a new beam design, the ProKennex Ki 5 continues its reign as one of the most arm-friendly player’s racquets available. As with previous generations, the Ki 5  delivers controllable power and unparalleled comfort to intermediate players. This racquet will also tempt the advanced ball striker who wants raw speed without having to sacrifice stability. For 2022, ProKennex modernizes the beam with a trapezoidal throat design, resulting in a racquet that feels more stable through impact and transfers greater power to the ball. This racquet's defining feature is Kinetic Technology, which places movable mass around the hoop to deliver superior arm protection. Other technologies include a Comfort Cap, which adds Kinetic technology to the butt cap to attenuate residual vibrations. This Ki 5 also benefits from a Spiral Tech Carbon layup which delivers cleaner ball feedback along with less frame vibration on off-center impact. Ultimately, this impressive update is an obvious choice for any player who wants the advantages of a modern player's racquet minus the discomfort that typically plagues the breed.

What a nice surpriseAs a tennis elbow sufferer, I can definitely say that there's something to the kinetic technology as I'm able to play back-to-back days without elbow soreness. I used to feel frame shots radiate to my elbow but not with the ProKennex frames. I purchased the Black Ace 105, which I loved playing with, but I wanted a racquet that would swing quicker, had more control and a denser string pattern as I'm a flat hitter. For comparison, I'm used to playing with the Head Speed Pro and Gravity MP. After seeing a few reviews on YouTube, I decided to purchase the Ki 5 and I'm glad that I did. First off, the Ki 5 is a great playing racquet that just happens to have elbow friendly technology. I don't feel that I've had to compromise at all. I've only played with the Ki 5 for a few months and I'm liking the racquet more each time I play with it. Also, I'm back to playing with a full bed of poly but I try to use the softer poly strings. Pros: Very stable (no weight added to the head), solid on volleys, serves are accurate, power is average, and the 16x20 provides great control. Cons: I only have one con and that is the shape of the handle, which is less round shape like Head racquets and more rectangular like Technifibre racquets. That said, I'm starting to get used to it, so it should be fine. Looking forward to seeing what new racquets ProKennex will be coming out with. I'm definitely a believer in the kinetic technology and I hope others will give it try too. After adding about 5 grams to the handle, the total weight with an over grip and dampener is 325 grams and 7 pts. HL.

A little disappointingThey're touting a new beam shape for this racquet, I'm not sure it represents progress. The racquet seemed a little harsher in feel than what I've experienced with a number of PK racquets previously. Nonetheless power was adequate without being uncontrollable and the racquet displayed good control. Serving was a bit below the standard for the usual modern 100 sq. in. frames we've become accustomed to. Try it if you want a little more arm safety than you'll find with some of its competitors.

Best Ki5 so farI am a ProKennex user since 2012. I have tried and own all the ProKennex lines. I think this new update of KI5 is the best so far. It just has everything I’m looking for. Great feel, comfort, spin, control, and power I need for my game, very well balanced racquet which I highly recommend. I love the cosmetics of this racquet.

Great RacquetHad this 2 months, bought from TW using matching service, my specs unstrung 292g SW 288, balance 32.2 cm. Strung with Weiss Dual reality hybrid, 46M 52C. Racquet strung with 2g at tip 309g just less than 3hl. Added 2g just to give it a little more power! Racquet is very Comfortable as an aging 62 year old wanted something a little lighter, I have lots of different racquets, all around 320g strung. All court player that hits mainly flat. This racquet really suits my game! I would say its launch angle is lower than my Tour 100p it has excellent control! It won't give you lots of free spin, the 16x20 string pattern is tighter in the middle than 100p even though its 16x20. Think its a good combo of power, control & maneuverability & very good comfort (maybe a little too muted for some) I have been trying lots of new racquets in the last couple of years! Never been totally satisfied with any e.g. 100p, TF40, Blade, TT100 290g, Angell 97. Whilst I played well in spells with all of these racquets think as I have aged I have found it hard against anyone who hits the ball faster than I have time to react to! Pleased with the PK Ki 5 295 feels really solid for its weight the 2g does give it a bit more power with out effecting the great control this racquet has!
