This fourth generation in the Lav/CT Rally franchise is even more breathable, just as comfortable, and still delivers the support and stability that we have come to love.

Having a reputation as one of the most comfortable, supportive, and stable shoes on the market, the New Balance CT Rally 2 (2E) is now updated in its fourth iteration, and is here to carry on the legacy! Formerly known as the Lav, Lav v2, and CT Rally (1st gen), this update delivers the plush and cushioned ride that the line is known for, featuring Fresh Foam X located in the midsole. With an all new upper design, the Ndure technology has been updated to provide more ventilation, while still providing durability in drag zones, and FantomFit gives a seamlessly comfortable and flexible feel on top of the foot. The NDurance rubber has been re-formulated to provide an even grippier feel on court, and is molded into a herringbone pattern that performs best on hard courts, but will work well on a variety court surfaces. Backed by a six-month NDurance outsole guarantee.

  • Upper: NDure upper with a new design that keeps the flexibility, and support, but adds more breathability and comfort. External frame in the heel and FantomFit for increased lock-down and ankle support.
  • Midsole: Fresh Foam X for a plush a comfortable ride, and increased energy return compared to Fresh Foam.
  • Outsole: NDurance rubber outsole in a modified herringbone tread pattern provides great traction and durability on any court surface, but is ideal on hard courts. Backed by a six-month NDurance outsole guarantee.
  • Color: White / Blue

almost a great shoe, but has some key issuesKudos to New Balance for offering wide shoes (as always) but these are not wide. Forefoot feels cramped at 2E. Tongue padding thick (nice) but too much at top and narrow, making lacing a challenge. Heel slips at times, once shoe came off completely as I took off for ball. Have to crank down laces so tight to hold heel in. Never had this problem with a shoe before. Shoe is correct size for me. Durability is very poor. Wore all the way through toe on one side and forefoot tread gone after 6 months. Disappointed. That said, the cushioning is great for heavier players like myself. I can run in these better than any other I've tried. The Adidas I had were like strapping cinder blocks to my feet. I really want to love these shoes but they need some refinement. I never owned the prior iteration so can't compare.

Flexible forefootSlight breaking in needed but fits wider feet more snugly than I was expecting. Would buy again. Feels good on my finicky feet.

Different than the previous"My rating isn't about the overall quality, but rather the recent design changes. These shoes seem to have a redesigned insole and the heel loop has been removed. I’ve worn the CT Rally for many years, but this is the first time the model hasn’t fit my feet correctly. The insole also feels like it has a higher arch than the previous one.

Not as good as the previous versionNot as good of cushioning as the previous line and feels flat. Definitely disappointed with the shoe compared to the OG rally

Wide and comfortableWas little sticky to the court to start with, yet after a few matches then became very maneuverable and my confidence grew with each rally

Not as good as previous year modelI wore this model size 2E and the MC 1007 model too last year. This year I bought the new models again and this is what I think of CT Rally v2. It is not as good as previous year version. I find the elastic lace not to be as precise in holding the vamp. The tongue is too short making it difficult to get into the shoe. The toebox feels harder as less fabric is used in its construction. The old faithful MC 1007 is as good as last year.

Balance ct rallyI would recommend this shoe for any player with a wide foot. I find there's plenty of room for my toes to stretch out making quick, lateral movements comfortable and very stable.

Comfy, but the soles do not last very longThis is the 2nd pair of NB shoes I've tried where the soles are just chewed threw quickly. I like NB for other activities, but for tennis, I think they are a hard pass. Won't be buying NB again.
