Overview

Designed to maximize durability Ashaway Kevlar+Plus 17 works best in a hybrid combination. Although it is slightly softer than the standard Ashaway Kevlar, this is an extremely firm string designed for experienced players and chronic string breakers who want maximum control, spin and durability.

Ashaway recommends dropping the tension by 10-15%.
  • Gauge: 17/1.25mm
  • Length: 360ft/110m
  • Composition: Braided aramid and PTFE fibers bonded w/nylon
  • Color: Gold (w/black dashes)

awesome!I used Kevlar Plus quite some time ago and glad I decided to experiment with it again! With a Poly cross, it has a nice popping sound that I've been looking for ten years! It also feels great at 60 - 65 lbs! Over the past decade I've tried and strung all kinds of racquets and strings looking for that particular racquet, string, sound and feeling. It played so well that I had to try Kevlar with other racquets that I could never dial in and each one I retried with Kevlar was very playable! Now that I finally found 1/2 my string bed, I can find the right cross string. A nice benefit to me is the lightness of the string which hardly adds weight to the head of the racquet! works awesome for me!

Comments: Unlike the regular Ashaway Kevlar, I find that this string becomes rather unplayable very quickly. Balls begin to fly once tension is lost, and the only thing that keeps the ball in the court is a ton of spin.

Comments: I have used Ashaway Kevlar for about 15 years. I thought the addition of a flexible fibre would give a little more power and maybe feel to the strings. I suppose it may have given me more "power" but the strings have lost all of their crisp sensation and control. To me they are thuddy, springy and dull feeling strings with a distinct lack of control, they kind of feel like rubber bands that have been stretched too many times. I am sticking with the original Ashaway Kevlar.
