Difference Between Tacky and Dry Overgrips
Tacky overgrips are perfect for players who want a slightly stickier surface in order to better grip the racquet, while players looking for the most sweat absorption or who play in hot, humid conditions should consider dry overgrips.
When to Change Your Overgrip
There's no hard and fast rule of when you should replace your overgrip. They wear at different rates for players depending how much your hands sweat, how much you change how you grip the handle during play and even how you store your racquets can affect the grip material. Some players may prefer to change it for each session. Here are some signs it's time to change your overgrip:
- The material is starting to fray or show other signs of wear.
- It feels slick or is making it harder to hold onto the handle.
- It's visibly dirty. Overgrips pick up dirt and grime over time.
Best Tacky Overgrips
Wilson Pro Overgrip
Used by pros and recreational players alike, Wilson Pro Overgrip is thin and keeps your grip size minimal. This high-stretch overgrip also offers outstanding performance and great comfort.
Yonex Super Grap
Here’s a best seller. Super Grap offers premium performance and comfort for the players loving tackiness and looking for extra durability. It also fits standard and longbody racquets. This product may be labeled by Yonex as "Wet Super Grap," but it is still the same product as before!
Head Prime Pro
This overgrip provides a nice feel on the hand, blending tackiness and comfort without feeling to thick or making you lose connection to the bevels. Like our other favorites, Wilson Pro and Yonex Super Grap, it has good moisture absorbency considering it is on the tacky side of the spectrum.
Tourna Mega Tac
If you’re on the look for optimal tackiness, look no further than Tourna Mega Tac. This is the tackiest grip offered at Tennis Warehouse and provides a sticky feel with great comfort.
Best Dry Overgrips
Tourna Grip Original
If you like a classic dry feel, Tourna Grip Original proved itself on tour. This non-slippery grip is used by many pros and offers great level of sweat absorption and a soft feel in hand. For longer handles, try the Tourna Grip Orignal XL.
Volkl V-Dry
Looking for extra absorption in hot temperatures? This high performance grip features a super-dry feel and make sure you keep a secure grip at all times. We've also found this overgrip to have pretty good durability.
Yonex Dry Grap
Dry Grap has excellent absorption coupled with a soft feel that makes it a very comfortable grip. The durability is impressive for an overgrip and especially compared to other dry grips. Do not confuse Dry Grap with Dry Super Grap. Although dry, the latter is tackier than Dry Grap.
