Overview

Head adds another chapter to the Radical Pro! Boasting a compact 98in² head along with the thinnest beam in the Radical family, this 2023 update delivers a seductive level of control on full swings. At over 11.5 ounces strung, the Radical Pro not only packs enough mass to comfortably redirect the pace of bigger hitters, it also delivers plenty of pop to those who can get it moving fast. For 2023 Head improves ball feedback with the addition of a uniquely flexible Auxetic construction to the yoke. This racquet also features Graphene 360+ (called Graphene Inside), which combines the stability and easy power of polarized weighting with  SpiralFibers in the lower head for a softer feel. Like the previous generation, the Radical Pro has Head's Control Pattern which features tighter mains in the center in order to deliver a more precise and predictable trajectory. The payoff is more confidence when selecting ambitious targets. Ultimately, with incremental tweaks to the feel, the Radical Pro checks all the right boxes. Experienced players looking to hit a precise and powerful ball should add this to their demo list. The solid feel at impact is a nice bonus.

Love itI was afraid this racquet was too advanced for me as an intermediate level player, but I loved it from day one. I get good spin, good control, and just seem to play better.

All round okThe Radical Pro is a pretty demanding racquet. The Pros? This racquet will greatly reward attacking play. The ball goes exactly where you want it to. The con -- if you are on the back foot, it's super hard to play defense. There's no free power. Really dense string pattern means if you are a bit off the sweet spot, your arm will feel the impact and your ball will lose speed. I ended up adding a bit of weight at 3 and 9 for stability, but the overall racquet starts to get heavy if you want to add more than 1-2g.

Head Radical Pro 2023Currently my favorite racquet to play with, it has a near perfect blend of power, spin, and precision. The only challenge to fully enjoying my racquet was that is slightly underspec compared to the TW average spec, but fortunately I was able to fix that. Out of the box, unstrung, my racquet was approximately 2g light (313g vs target 315g) and it had an unstrung swing weight of approximately 289g. When strung with Head Lynx Tour 17g (1.25mm) at 46 lbs, the swing weight came in at approximately 321g, about 4g lighter than average TW spec (but without knowing/using the same string TW used for testing, it is hard to say how much it is off by). After adding approximate 1g lead weight to the head, distributed between 9 and 3, I increased the swing weight to 323g and the static weight to 333g, which are within my sweet spot specs. In my experience, the racquet has a bit less power and a lower launch than the Boom Pro 2022 (one of my other favorite racquets), but I feel the Radical Pro 2023 has better precision and is maybe better suited to a wider range of playing styles.

Solid stickVery nice racquet, definitely more of a players racquet. Great control and nice feel at impact. 11.1 unstrung not light by any means. Loved my backhand slice with it. Classic racquet.

Solid racquet, head heavy, forgivingAdmittedly, I've only used Head racquets. But this is my favorite so far. I tend to prefer a heavier head. Previously I played with the MP and ended up using tape to get a little more weight at the top. This racquet is forgiving just like all the Radicals, not as stiff as the Prestige, but the head heaviness in my opinion gives a little more easy power. I'm a bigger guy so I'm okay with it, some people might prefer a lighter frame. It probably gives less touch than the Prestige given it's less stiff.

Great All-Around RacquetThe Head Radical Pro 2023 has been a fantastic upgrade. It’s reliable all over the court and has noticeably improved my groundstrokes. I’m seeing better depth and consistency, especially on my backhand. Highly recommend it for intermediate to advanced players looking for a versatile racquet.

Much Improved GameI had decided to make a switch from my Prince Phantom 97P, which I had been using for years. And I'm glad I did. This is my first Head racquet, and when I did a demo of this one the feel and the results were instant, and noticeable. The same listed weight as my old Prince Phantom, this one has a much better weight distribution. The head of this racquet carries more mass, and it gave me a lot more control of my swing and my shot placement. With the Phantom I had to generate a lot of the pace I wanted to put on the ball through my swing. This one, I just needed to follow through fully and the ball would plow through the court thanks to the mass of the stick. My hitting partners noticed the difference immediately in my shots coming to them: more weight, more spin, and more depth. A great racquet.

One of the best Radicals madeGreat racquet, finally switched. Made the switch from my liquidmetal radical to this racket so it took me 2 decades to finally find a racquet good enough to switch plus my liquidmetals were on their last leg.

Power meets controlA classic racquet that offers impressive control and just the right amount of power for players who value consistency while still hitting with pace. This latest version improves on the previous generation with a more balanced weight distribution, enhancing maneuverability and overall feel.

Head Radical Pro 2023Great racquets. I had used older Liquid Tension Radicals that needed an update but I really enjoyed those battered old guys. So I bought two of these. I have one strung at 56 pounds and the other at 53 pounds. It's strung with Babolat VS touch, which is incredible I might add. Best string I've ever used by far. I always like tighter tension, but not in this case. Maybe 56 pounds feels a hair stiff to what I was previously use to as that was my weight for years... but the 53 pounds makes it perfect with the new Radical. 56 is still fine but 53 dialed it in for me. Very happy with the racquets.

Do it allThis racquet is good at everything. I was using a Gravity Pro and thought nothing was going to make me change till now. Must know: The Radical Pro is marked as a control racquet with same power as the Prestige or the Gravity. I think that’s simply wrong as this is a control orientated racquet but it’s also powerful. Following Head’s parameters, if this one’s marked as 200, I would say 400 would be more accurate. As said, good for everything. Not “too good” at one specific thing.

Head Radical ProMy son upgraded to this racquet to get a bit more weight as he is getting older. He loves how effortless it is to control the amount of power you generate. Great racquet overall!

Great all court racquet! After I cracked my Pure Aero 98 by losing my grip on a serve, I thought I would give some new racquets a chance. After 5 hours on court I really fell in love with the Radical Pro. The weight and balance are perfect for me and it has so much feel with enough mass to give power. Since changing I feel like my forehand and backhand have improved due to the whippiness of the racquet. If you are looking for a control frame that has some mass and playability all over the court, I really recommend you giving this frame a try.
