The fifth generation in adidas' fastest shoe delivers on speed and breathability; Speedframe adds stability without adding weight.
Built for speed, the adidas Ubersonic 5 caters to the player who is looking to maximize their foot speed and move freely as they run down every shot. The minimalist mesh upper material is ultra breathable, and is layered on top of the half-bootie inner sleeve that feels glove like and comfortable. Adidas is able to keep the shoe ultra light but maintain its stability with the Speedframe technology; think torsional stability in a lightweight package. The Lightstrike cushioning in the midsole feels reactive and keeps you connected to the court. Adiwear rubber on the outsole is formed into a herringbone pattern for the perfect grip on a variety of court surfaces. Ventilation is enhanced from the mid-foot shank cutout on the bottom.
- Upper: Minimalist Mesh Upper on top of the half-bootie inner sleeve combines for a comfortable glove-like fit and plenty of breathability. Adituff Toe adds durability and protects the toe.
- Midsole: Lightstrike cushioning provides step-in underfoot comfort and a responsive feel to keep you reacting quickly.
- Outsole: Adiwear rubber compound in a modified herringbone tread pattern for traction and durability on a variety of court surfaces.
- Color: White / Gold / Red

Ubersonic 4.1 was betterThe previous model was way better. This is way to stiff and much tighter fit than the ubersonic. If you going to create a completely different shoe as least make it a different line.
The defiant speed 2 is a little closer to the ubersonic 4.1 but still not as good.
If you are looking for something similar to 4.1 get the defiant speed 2. Has the same base and sizing. Not as comfortable on the top but at least the weight and size and stiffness are the same.
Light, and supportiveI've used Barricades over the years from 2010 to the present and am used to the weight, stiffness, and wear characteristics, and of course the six month wear guarantee, but I tried these on sale and they're much lighter with good support and stability. Interesting that there's ventilation through the sole as well. The center of the factory innersole has ventilation holes, so your custom innersoles will cover up the screened vent in the shoe itself, probably not the best shoes to wear in the rain due to this. Overall, playing pickleball a couple of hours per day for a few weeks has been comfortable with negligible wear, so I'm pleased with these shoes at the sale price point. I usually shop by price and secondarily by wear guarantee, and as a former tennis player it's interesting to see the change in wear patterns on my shoes after transitioning to pickleball. Comparable Nike shoes have shown significant wear by this point, but these still have plenty of tread.
Top-tier shoeI had been an adidas Barricade guy for the past 6 or 7 cycles and decided to change it up last month. Really happy with the shoe. Has the solid feel/stability of the Barricade, but seems like it's a bit lighter and easier to maneuver in. As a five-day per week tennis/pickleball player, I went through my Barricades in 4-5 months. If I can get that same timeframe out of the Ubersonic, I'll likely stick with it.
Honest opinion as a 3.5 playerTo begin, they don’t need to break in at all if anything right after a few games, they start loosening up in the mid portion of the shoe, especially the lacing. It seems to release, no matter how tight and snug you try to make it at first. The grip is very good and the shoe is very stable and you can be quick on your feet however, I noticed after five months of playing the bottom of the shoe was bald around the ball of the foot. Great discounts on the shoe and performed good out of a perfect rate.
OkSize runs small; not too cushy for my preference
Love them!I bought this for my husband as a birthday gift, he loved them! He told me they are super comfortable and that they fit great!
Too stiffThese have great stability, but they are very stiff to a degree that makes the uncomfortable for long sessions. Not buying again.
tight toeboxI buy these up half a size from any other shoe. Why is the toebox so pointy, tight, and rigid? The Ubersonic 4 wasn't like this.
Like putting torture devices on my feet. Returning.
Steady but LightI've been wearing shoes that felt a bit heavy, but I thought I had to in order to have good lateral stability and endurance. But these Ubersonics feel really light while also doing the job when moving left to right. These are my second pair, and there will be more.
poor designheal is squeezed and hard plastic for rigidity is painful. 4.1 was a superior shoe.
