Plush. Fast. Accurate

Introducing the Muse 98! With this racquet, Yonex delivers an irresistible combination of speed, precision, and comfort. Boasting the most compact head size in the Muse family, this racquet delivers mindless accuracy on full cuts. Offering a light and fast feel, the Muse 98 is very maneuverable, yet delivers surprising stability. The Muse 98 features a relatively openly spaced 16x18 string pattern, which provides easy access to spin. The easy spin combines with the maneuverable feel to help players execute angled shots and lobs. Thanks to a very flexible frame, the Muse 98 has a wonderfully soft response. Other notable features include Yonex's ISOMETRIC head shape, which is noticeably roomier and more forgiving than standard oval shaped racquets. Athletic beginners and intermediate players looking for speed, feel, and precision should love this one. For those who want more pop and plow-through, the Muse 98 makes a great platform for customization.

To optimize performance, we recommend a multifilament or soft co-poly.

Yonex Muse 98I demoed The new Muse 98 and played about 12 hours of match play in a week's time so you'll have to take this review with a grain of salt, but I believe 12 hours is enough time to make a substantive review. I am a 71 year old male and play three times a week and consider myself a weaker to Middle road 4.0 player and have been rated as such in the past. I'm currently playing with an eighth generation Ezone 98, I love this racquet but I've noticed recently that playing consecutive days gives me a wrist issue which tweaked my interest in the Muse. I compared the specs between the two and the muse on paper seem to compare favorably, same static weight, balance point with The Muse having a slightly lower swing weight. Here are my findings. Power: I take full cuts from both sides and the Muse rewards this. I found the Muse to compare well with the Ezone, don't misunderstand me as this is not a power racquet, not even close, you will not get the free power that you do with the Ezone, but if you take full committed cuts you're not losing much in regards to power, casual cuts will not give you easy depth. Spin: although not a spin monster I did feel that it did generate slightly more spin than the e-zone. Stability: this is where the racquet really surprised me. I felt if I needed to customize the racquet I could always do that, but after playing with it no need here, serve returns and volleys against some of the bigger hitters in our group were no problem and I never felt any instability or being overwhelmed. Comfort: this is where the racquet really shines, extremely comfortable without being mushy, I felt very connected and knew where the ball was going. I watched a video review of this racquet and the reviewer summed it up perfectly, "with the clash, Wilson created a comfortable racquet at the expense of everything else, with The Muse, Yonex made a proper players racquet comfortable". Feel: again this is where this racquet shines, I always felt very connected to the ball. Control: with the additional spin and being a lower powered racquet quite a few balls that I would have sprayed long with the Ezone stayed in court. Conclusion: this racquet really surprised me and I ordered one after the demo as it's going to save my arm and really feel I'm not losing anything making the switch. I'm shocked that no one else has reviewed this racquet as it took me 2 months to receive the demo so I assume it must be generating a lot of interest. If anything changes after I play with it a while longer I'll be sure to update my review, if you don't hear anything from me you'll know I'm very happy with it!
