The GP series lives on! With Zoom Air underfoot you will find explosive energy and a smooth ride.

Whether you are an aggressive mover craving that extra spring in your step, or a comfort seeker looking for a plush ride, fear not the Nike Zoom GP Challenge 1 Shoes are here! The Nike GP Turbo was a TW playtester all-time favorite, based on the exceptional level of comfort and cushioning. This newer edition in the GP series carries on some of that comfort and bounciness, with a more streamlined and speedy profile. Explosive movers can appreciate the blend of comfort, support, and traction these shoes deliver. Key design features include forefoot and heel Zoom Air units, a mid-foot stability plate, and high abrasion rubber on the outsole that is denser in strategic locations. Adding to the overall comfort, the upper material is lightweight, breathable, and protected on the medial side of the toe-box for players who drag, while the integrated lacing system and support strap on the lateral side will keep your feet secure on those lateral cuts.

  • Upper: Synthetic and mesh material for lightweight support and easy ventilation. Rubber drag-guard on the medial side of the toe-box, and extra padding around the ankle collar for a plush feel. Integrated lacing and lateral belt help with support and lock-down.
  • Midsole: Zoom Air units located under the forefoot and heel for easy energy return and a smooth ride. Stability plate helps to resist torsional twisting of the shoes.
  • Outsole: High abrasion rubber outsole in a herringbone design; rubber is more dense on the medial forefoot high wear region, and finer tread on the lateral side for sliding enhancement.
  • Color: Cannon / Navy

Great comfortI LOVE these shoes. I used to wear the Vapor line (X, 9.5, 12) but my knees started hurting, so I tried these GP Challenge 1s and my legs and feet feel great now. The other thing I like is that the toe box is wider, so my pinky toe doesn't get jammed the way it did in the Vapor. In fact, none of my toes get jammed. At all. I wore a 9 in the Vapors and am wearing a 9 in these. I have a high instep and my toes are probably an E width (so between the usual D and EE). They aren't quite as confidence-inspiring as the Vapor line, but they are 90% of the way there and the comfort is a worthwhile trade off in my mind.

Tons of cushioning, funky sizingThese shoes have great cushioning in the heel and midsole. But the sizing is very odd. My shoe size is 11. For Nike tennis shoes I have always had to buy an 11.5. But for these shoes I need a 12.

ComfortableI love these shoes and have bought several pairs to last me for years to come. I used to wear the Vapor line, but I've gotten older and need more support for my lower half. These have more cushioning and the toebox is also a little wider, which I appreciate. I've worn my pair for about 40 hours so far I would say.

It’s “ok.”Just overall not impressed. Sinner must put some custom soles…ASICS Gel 8 or 9 are much more comfortable over the long term via two or three sets. By the way speaking of the Gel Resolutions…the 10 (X) is a huge disappointment!

Uncomfortable toe boxIf it weren’t for the toe cramming/toe box discomfort I would give this shoe 5 stars. I just can’t get past it. When I’m continuously running & stopping on the court, it’s really uncomfortable.

Great cushioning but have some issuesI love the cushioning. There are some annoying problems with these. First the tongue is not secured and will slide over when using during play. They should have secured the tongue. I also have had a couple of times that my toes have jammed in the forefoot. I have had to add insoles that prevents slipping. I think this happens due to the heel to toe drop in this shoe. The durability is great though. They are also a bit on the heavy side.

LoveMy son loves these shoes so much. They fit him perfect and they are great for side to side motion for playing tennis. As a kid who has osgood schlatter disease he has not complained about knee pain. This makes for a happy mom. Ordering was easy, the shoes came quick. We will definitely order again.

Lack of lateral supportI've been wearing Asics FF Court since Adidas cancelled Solecourt Boost which was my favorite shoe until cancelled couple of years ago. Although the FF has a great fit (foot sock) and lateral support, I find the sole is stiff (lack of bend) and limits my direct North South sprinting for a ball on the court. Additionally, the stiff sole is harder on my feet increasing plantar issues (I use orthopedics in shoe as well). The GP Challenge is definitely more comfortable and although technically a couple of ounces heavier than the FF, I do feel quicker on the court sprinting after balls. However, I'm a very aggressive mover laterally (e.g., trying to poach, pivoting, etc.) and top of the GP shoe does not hold my foot well (rolls a bit) and I'm concerned at some point I'll twist my ankle or something. Next up, just ordered the Asics Gel X to see if that provides a better balance between the lateral support of the Court FF and GP Challenge 1.

Great ShoeI’ve been using this model Nike since it came out maybe a year ago. I have 8 pairs, as Nike has a habit of taking a shoe out of production as soon as I decide to like it. Two Cons: 1- A bit narrow in the forefoot area. Go up half a size. 2- Heavier than most players might be used to, but I’ll take that as a trade-off for great comfort.

Lace loops don’t hold upGreat looking shoes, but the lace loops on one side are just cloth and they don’t hold up. Only played in these shoes twice before a loop snapped. Shoes also felt a little heavy when playing, but the main issue is the quality.

DisappointingGot this looking for more support and cushioning coming from the Ubersonic. The sole unit feels like a brick. Only just started to break in after 3 weeks. Cushioning is so so, responsive but hard. The fit is weird for me. I tighten the laces but after a few minutes the shoes feels loose. I never feel really secure fit in these shoes. Ok for practice but not hard matchplay. The Vapor series is much better and stable and supportive enough.

Stable tennis shoeI’ve played for almost 20 years and at a 4.0-4.5 level as an adult. This shoe feels stable and I don’t have any trouble getting grip on the court. I feel they’re a touch heavy hence the 4 star rating.

Good for intermediatesI've found the Vapor series require good precise footwork or else my ankle gets wrecked or at the least experience jarring pain if my feet don't land properly. The GP Challenge 1 on the other hand is a lot more forgiving with just the right amount of squish. Not too mushy, not too hard. They help me get away injury free with my sloppy footwork. My only complaint is the tongue. It could use some more cushion, could use more width, and it keeps shifting.

Nike Zoom GPThese shoes attract attention. All day long I received compliments on how nice they look. They are comfortable and I really do not want to play tennis in them until I get a replacement pair first.

Tennis CoachComfort ability = 10/10: cushy, cloud-like. Stylish = 10/10. Laces = 10/10 I’m typically a size 10.5 but they only had 11 when I bought them. The 11s fit me despite being a tad bit too big. But I wear two socks on each foot. So they fit fine like that, (TRUE TO SIZE 100%) — if you’re a 10.5 get a 10.5

Great balance of comfort, stability, speedMy favorite Nike shoe so far. Better than the Zoom Vapor Pro and Court Zoom Pro shoes that I liked quite a bit. The GP Challenge 1 provides a great mix of comfort, stability, and speed. While the shoes feel heavy when picking up by hand, on the court, they felt fast to me. Really good stability and lockdown when going hard laterally and forward. I didn't have to size up and the lockdown was no issue for me in contrast to other reviewers of this shoe. The Zoom Air was comfy but not plush or spongy taking away energy. These shoes play higher off the ground so slightly less quick vs the Vapor line but overall this shoe is better IMO. Need to stock up on some more before Nike changes this model.

Seem solid, but fit is offI highly recommend ordering a half size up. I wish I knew this before I ordered. FWIW, Nike's website suggests doing the same. Otherwise, seem like solid shoes. My first thought was that the laces' holes might not last since they are small pieces of fabric instead of holes through the shoe, but haven't played in them enough to find out due to the sizing issue.

Try it yourself, I loved these shoesMy title speaks for itself, these Nike GP Challenge 1 shoes are just something you need to try on your own and judge, don’t necessarily go by all these reviews, even mine. For me, I can agree with people that these shoes at first don’t feel like they “lock in” your foot, almost like your foot could just slip out of the shoe at any moment even despite tying the laces tight. However, that’s not the case and your foot won’t actually slip out. The air zooms definitely help with the cushioning feel, and I can finally say Nike has created a shoe for me at least, where it’s perfect for flat footers or people with plantar fasciitis. The shoes “look bulky” and heavy, but for me, I found them to be maneuverable and not necessarily light, but just right moving lateral, side to side and running basically all over the court. Overall, I liked these Nike GP Challenge 1 shoes and have no complaints, but again, it’s a shoe you kind of have to try it out yourself and judge, don’t just go by all the negative reviews. They are also true to size as well, as I’m a size 10, and didn't need to go with a 10.5.

Horrible experience with shoesI’m not normally one to write bad reviews - but these are some of the most overpriced, mediocre pieces of sporting equipment I’ve ever owned which lack proper stability and cushioning. Perhaps I could have gotten a bigger size but the stiff outer “support” near my little toe basically broke my left foot (little toe) when I ran to for a drop shot. Yes it’s a higher ride, the lacing system is nothing special- they look cool but the shoes are not safe (at least for me) and I’m still paying the price for my decision. Go with another shoe- I have a really hard time believing any top level athlete (who would push the limits of performance way beyond anything I can do on court) would accept this garbage product. And yeah I have played tennis my whole life and have had the privilege of playing many high end shoe models- so I do have a point of comparison.

Good Shoe, but a major flawThese shoes are very good and are comfortable. But they come with a major flaw in that the loop that holds the shoelace in on the outside of the shoe and if you slide at all this will break within two weeks. The Vapor 11 and Vapor Pro 2 have this loop on the inside and are decent shoes.

Love it, but breathability is an issue. The shoes are quite comfortable after two to three hours of breaking them in. However, after one hour on the court the toe-box is very damp and has no good way of letting that area breathe. These shoes have a HUGE breathability issue, no way these shoes can be played in the summer.
