Head was founded by Howard Head in 1950 and originally started out as a skiing manufacturer. It quickly saw major success making them the leading ski manufacturer in the United States. In 1968, Head decided to branch out into other sports, tennis being one of them. They introduced the first tennis racquet in 1969, and it was the first aluminum tennis frame.
