An engineered woven mesh wraps the foot for a locked-in, adaptive fit that moves seamlessly with you, while the reinforced lacing system adds durability for hard-court sliders and intense match play. Asics' Precision Sole is formed from a unique rubber compound that delivers a lighter, faster feel without sacrificing traction. The tread pattern is designed for use on a variety of court surfaces, but we find them to perform best on hard courts.

6 year relationship had to break upAfter a great run with this shoe, I had to move on and choose another shoe (Mizuno Neo Ace). First the positive. Asics always had the right fit dialed in for my build, I'm 6' tall, weigh180 and play 4x a week. This version is just way too narrow. It created a large blister in the middle of my left foot that never happened with the previous versions. I thought it was a fluke so I bought another pair. I was wrong, same issue, it's just too narrow in the middle area of the shoe. Happy hunting.
Strange design and uncomfortableNot sure why the lace hole styles differ on each side of the shoe. They misalign and will not hold up well. The bottom of the shoe, under the arch, has no traction. A major cheap-out in my opinion. The upper shoe chafes the shin bone. Really not good...
Very different shoe than the FF3The FF4 is a very different shoe than the FF3, the fit is completely different. I don't understand Asics strategy here. They did the same with Gel Resolution where the 10 is completely different shoe than the 9, and not in a good way.
The FF4 fits wildly differently. It is shorter, and wider. It doesn't have eyelids for a runners knot. This means that if the FF3 fit you well, the FF4 will almost certainly not fit well, like in my case. They are too wide and even with the last eyelid they don't keep my feet from jamming into the toe box. I figured I needed to break them in and get used to them, but nothing worked. I wore thicker socks, double socks, tried different lacing strategies. The fit, lockdown, and containment, are just not that great and nearly a 180 from the FF3. Also, my feet slide to the outside inside the shoe making them the first shoe I've ever used where I felt the risk of rolling my ankle.
If they fit you well, then they are probably still a good shoe. My advice is that if when you try them on, your feet don't feel 100% locked down, return them. These shoes will hurt you if there is any wiggle room for your feet to move.
Great ShoesOut of the box comfort. No break-in required. Probably the best pair of tennis shoes I have ever worn.
Even BetterAlways liked this shoe, but wished it had a little more cushioning and now it does! Also really happy Asics gave us better strings that don't cut into the top of your foot and stay tied. Thanks, Asics!
Loved it.Comfortable and light.
Better Than SS3s In Every WayI used the SS3s for 2 years, went through 3 pairs of them, and can say that the 4s are better in every way. The feel more supportive on the ankles, more grip on the court, more bouncy, more responsive, the laces are better, and they feel equally as light to me.
The one thing I have noticed is that the 4s were much harder to break in that my previous 3s, which resulted in some pretty gnarly blisters on both heels for the first week of use. So I would recommend a more intentional break in process before any intense sessions. I went straight into a footwork and speed practice with my brand new pair and regretted it. User error though, so I'm not knocking the rating of the shoe.
Terrific upgradeBeen using all previous gens of this shoe, v2 and v3 needed a cushioned insole to prevent the achilles flaring up. Great shoes, but raw. This one is basically v3 with a cushioned insole, all-in-one. It's way more plush and comfy, it's the best feeling out of the box shoe on the market IMO. May be a little heavier, but you will never notice it. Gladly will take the extra cushion and bounce. Laces are also improved, the prior version were too thin and snapped frequently. Last but not least, the traction. Stellar. There is a piece in the toe that helps with forward push off, unreal. I'm in love.... what can I say. 5.5 player.
Great Shoe, Would like more colors!I've worn the previous versions of these for quite awhile. They seemed narrow in the toe box but I always liked the performance of them. The newest version is much more comfortable right out-of-the-box and has a wider toe box which keeps my toes from jamming up against the edges. My last 4 pairs of shoes have been on cloud Rogers and on cloud fires; these are way more comfortable.
My only complaint is that I would like to see more colorways. Super stoked about this new model!
Slower than FF3FF3 acceleration/quickness 10/10, ultra responsive & low to the ground. I prefer FF3 b/c of just raw performance & feel. You can cut out of corners and recover unlike anything I've exp.
But I think most people will prefer FF4 over FF3.
FF4 feels like 80% FF & 20% gel resolution. Its higher off the ground, more cushioned. The shape of the shoe is very contoured in the toe box & this was an upgrade for me, I like my shoes super snug. But I foresee the fit can be hit or miss for people. Good luck if you got a fat foot.
I'd imagine the durability is better than FF3 b/c FF3 was low durability. Also new, the ff4 pushes you forward onto your toes all the time. The laces & tongue are thicker and way more comfortable, big improvement. The runners knot eyelet is now only on 1 side of each shoe. Slightly less lockdown or maybe I don't know how to runners knot/heel lock this new design correctly.
