Best ASICS Shoe For Me

ASICS is one of the industry leaders when it comes to performance footwear on court. Their main silos cater to slightly different player types while their takedowns offer impressive functionality and durability to boot. This article breaks down each silo and helps you decide which ASICS court shoe is the best one for your purposes.

Gel-Resolution X: Stability & Durabililty

"I found the stability of the Gel Resolution Xs to be excellent. Once the shoes were broken in and moving with my feet, I felt very stable in them."

-Chris, TW Playtester

"The shoes themselves hugged my ankles and feet well. This allowed me to feel secure within the shoes and confident in the ankle stability. Even after a long match, my ankles and feet weren’t sore."

-Brittany, TW Playtester

The Gel Resolution series has long been a consumer favorite for its combination of performance and durability. The tenth version takes a different approach to this renowned franchise, with a slightly raised medial wall for extra support on lateral movements. Additionally, the shoes have been beefed up for additional support, durability, and rigidity in all areas. Already one of the most durable options out there, the Gel Resolution Xs have outdone themselves by their own standards, with our team praising the excellent longevity of both the outsoles and the uppers. Fans of durability and support in spades will likely appreciate this update to a classic franchise.

Court FF 3: Jack-of-All-Trades

"That upper part of the mono-sock was nice and stretchy, as well as breathable, and to my surprise, I actually found a slightly more cushioned feel underfoot."

-Troy, TW Playtester

"They felt so supportive and stable, just as expected. I felt so confident moving in these shoes, and while I am not a hard court slider, I could turn and pivot on a dime!"

-Michelle, TW Playtester

Designed with Novak Djokovic in mind, the ASICS Court FF 3 is one of the more beloved shoes internally here at Tennis Warehouse. Renowned for its combination of stability, comfort, and speed, the Court FF 3 is in many ways the modern standard for a true "all-rounder" pair of court shoes. The one caveat for some players may be its sock-like, bootie construction, which requires a little more effort to slip on one's feet. But once in the shoes, the Court FF 3 has you moving and grooving with ease, transitioning seamlessly between offense and defense. If you're a slider on hard courts, the Court FF 3 has you covered there as well. For one of the more well-rounded options out there (with incredible durability to boot), the Court FF 3 is hard to top.

Solution Speed FF 4: Lightweight Speed

"Even though this is ASICS' lightweight offering, I still felt like it had plenty of support and stability. The uppers aren't as rigid and stable as the Gel Resolutions or Court FFs, but I still felt confident moving around the court aggressively."

-Jason, TW Playtester

"I appreciated the underfoot cushioning. I felt protected from harsh landings, and the ride felt lower to the ground in the heel than the last version I tested, which I appreciated."

-Tiffani, TW Playtester

As the most speed-oriented flagship offering from ASICS, the Solution Speed FF 4 takes what the line has been known for and adds some extra stability and support to the mix. These shoes feature a more low-to-the-ground profile for easy acceleration and excellent court feel, letting wearers maneuver around the court however they see fit to do so. Our team praised the high agility ceiling of the Solution Speed FF 4s, and noted improved stability and comfort relative to previous generations. If your game is built around speed, this is likely the ASICS option for you.

Solution Swift FF

The Solution Swift FF is an excellent option for beginners and intermediate players looking for speed and value. These lightweight, low-to-the-ground shoes offer a comfortable and minimalist approach, finding that middle ground between easy comfort and playability. If a light shoe is your priority and you don't need a ton of stability either, the Solution Swift is a great option that won't break the bank either.

Gel Challenger

For those who were disappointed with the update to the Gel Resolution X, the Gel Challenger is an excellent alternative to the current X, with a similar profile to that of the Gel Resolution 9. The Gel Challenger isn't quite as built up as the Gel Resolution series, but for those who prefer a stability-focused experience in a lighter weight package, these shoes fit that mark. Additionally, if you're a fan of more fun and unusual colorways, the Gel Challenger series has those in spades.

Gel Game FF

The Gel Game FF is another fantastic value-based offering from ASICS, more so tailored to beginners and more recreational players who are just looking to have fun without breaking the bank. Though they have a similar profile to that of the Solution Swifft FF, the Gel Game FF is built with more stability in mind, with an overall lesser emphasis on outright speed on the court. A two-piece outsole construction keeps you elevated without being too far above the court itself, letting you pivot and move effectively around the court. These shoes also make for an excellent gift to the newer players out there who are just starting out in a court sport.

Gel Dedicate

The Gel Dedicate 9 comes in at the lowest point price-wise in ASICS' tennis lineup, but make no mistake, these shoes are more than up to the task when it comes to "balling on a budget." Their profile harkens back to that of older Gel Resolution models while keeping a focus on lightweight stability and a more traditional one-piece outsole construction. Additionally (for their price point), we found these shoes to offer impressive durability on a variety of courts. For those just starting their journey in tennis, there may not be a better value option out there.
