High performance stability, and durability, with improved flexibility and comfort compared to previous versions.

When it comes to high performance shoes that specialize in stability, and durability, the Asics Gel Resolution 9 sets the bar high. Beyond the stability and durability that these shoes are known for, the flexibility and comfort has been improved, and is some of the best in class. The combination of a more flexible upper, paired with a more extensive Dynawall stability piece towards the heel, allows these shoes to feel more stable, but also more dynamic at the same time. The midsole provides layers of cushioning to help add energy to every step, while giving the comfort needed for hours of court time. Asics High Abrasion Rubber compound on the outsole features a new separated design for more stable landings, and allows aggressive movers and hardcourt sliders to burn rubber with confidence! Backed by a six month outsole durability guarantee.
  • Upper: Full length Flexion Fit upper, now in a checkerboard pattern for increased support, while maintaining flexibility and improving ventilation. Personal Heel Fit technology locks your feet in for a stable ride.
  • Midsole: FlyteFoam midsole and GEL cushioning in the rear and forefoot for an exceptionally plush and responsive feel under foot. Dynawall Extended technology creates extra stability and improves heel support.
  • Outsole: Non-marking AHAR Plus rubber outsole in a separated design for added  stability. Modified herringbone tread pattern with pivot points for durability and traction on any court surface. PGaurd Toe Protector for the avid toe draggers. Backed by a six month outsole durability guarantee.
  • Color: White / Black

Fantastic shoeSwitched to these GR9s when they first came out and have been super happy. I slide a lot on hard courts and the Dynawall really helps keep my foot stable on slides. Outsole is super durable too. Highly recommended. Side note, I came from years of wearing Nike Vapor Tour 9.5, then the recent Vapor Pros (which are super flimsy and cheap compared to these).

Good balance between Comfort and durabilityI've worn different tennis shoes, some are comfortable but only last a couple of months, some last longer but too stiff or too narrow to wear for long time. This 2E version of gel-resolution 9 is so far the best balanced. Very comfortable, and the outsole looks promising for another three months after two months' wearing. Highly recommended.

Got a hole in less than six hoursI got a hole in my shoe by the second training. They lasted less than six hours. Very disappointed. A complete waste of money for me!

Gel Resolution 9If you have wide feet just don't buy these. Buy shoes for wide feet. I have narrow feet and these shoes are awesome! Great side to side support for advanced pickleball. They look good and hold up well.

Really solidUTR 4.6 here. I found the traction to be great, I could move very naturally. The weight was good for me, not too heavy. They were very durable, lasted for 5-6 months. They got more comfortable as I wore them in. The lacing system got a little looser towards the end, but overall a great shoe and my go-to.

Despite 2E size, it's too narrowWore the shoes for a week and it still felt tight. Asics added this elastic band over the tongue that replaces two lace eyelets. This band narrows the shoe and restricts my foot. It feels awful when I'm playing a two hour match. I've resorted to cutting them off and lacing through these eyelets. It felt only a small amount better but it was still awful. These shoes just aren't good for wide feet and Asics continues to hurt my feet. I've loved the asics Gel Resolution 7 and I love the sole match court from adidas. This doesn't feel as comfortable as those and I wouldn't buy this again. I cannot recommend it. The only reason it's two stars is because it looks good.

Stellar shoesLove these things. My feet and I are happy we met the Gel Resolution 9's. Favorite shoes so far. Six days a week on hard courts for a month now and no degradation that I can see. Some very negative reviews here that don't reflect my experience. Feet are funny that way.

Rubber solesI have used two pairs of Resolution 9's in the past six months and they both lasted about three months each before the rubber sole started to peel and break off. The problem is that the small parts of the outside edge of the rubber soles protrude out from the upper slightly and if you drag your feet on the side when you swing your forehand like I do then the protruding part will get dragged along the court and some bits will break and eventually come off. Bad design.

Resolution 9I had three pairs of the Gel Resolution 7's. Absolutely loved them. Bought the 8 and found them to be narrow and tight. Hoped the 9 would fix this problem and it did not. The 9 is still narrow and tight. Using shoe trees to try and stretch them. This will probably be the last time I buy.

Newer isn’t betterI’ve been wearing the Gel-Resolution's for at least the last ten years. I just received the 9’s, and found they are narrower than the prior models. I have a heel spur behind my Achilles, and haven’t had an issue with the prior models. Within two minutes of walking on a treadmill to test the shoes, the area around my Achilles started burning severely. I returned them the same day.

One of the best, but not the bestAsics have been my go-to shoe for the last year and a half, with the FF3s and Gel Res 9s being solid. The Gel Res 9s provide very solid stability in a fairly lightweight package, being that they compete in the stability market versus the lightweight market, ie Vapor Pro 1/2. These shoes have quite significant arch supports, something I felt after switching between these and the FF2s and FF3s. The shoe has a durable outsole, one that takes well to sliding and general aggressive movement. The more aggressive you move in general, the more you will come to appreciate the shoe. Asics, when compared to my experience with all of Nike and adidas's shoes, have proven to be solid in every aspect. Only issue, they have weak medial/inner protection for sliding on hard court, meaning they rip for me in 2-3 months all the way through. But even then, with then 6-month durability guarantee, they are a pretty solid deal. If you're looking for comfort and ultimate stability, check out the FF3. Otherwise, if looking for well-balanced all around shoe, go Gel-Res 9s.

The quality is not backI recently gave this shoe a 5 star rating under the title “ The Quality is Back.” Unfortunately, that rating was premature. After playing in the shoe several times I started to feel pain in my achilles tendons. I never had this before and it only started once I started playing in the Gel Resolution 9’s. I switched back to my Diadora shoes and the problem was taken care of. I compared the Gel Resolution 9s to an old pair of Gel Resolution 7s and it appears that the 9s have a plastic piece for support that comes up higher in the back of the shoe on both sides of the achilles. The 7s which don’t give me problems don’t have this. The Diadora shoes don’t have this either. Hopefully, this issue only impacts me but it is something to watch out for.

The Quality is Back!I had been a loyal Gel Resolution wearer for many, many years until version 8. For me, that shoe was horrible and unwearable. I just tried version 9 and I am very happy to report that ASIC is back on track. The shoe felt great/comfortable right out of the box, the stability was excellent, and the shoe had a light feel despite the weight. Very happy to back on court with my Gel Resolutions. For reference I am a high 4.5 playing 4-5 times per week.
