Overview
Wilson makes big changes to the Blade 104, but keeps the forgiving feel and user-friendly playability that has defined earlier generations of this racquet. With its 104in² headsize, this racquet is ideal for the intermediate player who wants something a little more comfortable and forgiving than a conventionally sized midplus racquet. Updated with a more open 16x19 string pattern, this version of the Blade 104 is a tad more lively and spin-friendly than the 18x19 version it replaces. It also has lower, more arm-friendly stiffness rating. Like the previous generation, this update packs an extended 27.5" length, giving you access to higher levels of power and spin. The signature feature of the Blade 104 is FeelFlex which uses Carbon Mapping to add torsional stability while also helping the racquet bend in ways that complement the explosive mechanics of the modern game. This stick also comes with Power Holes which enables the strings to absorb greater vibration and transfer more power to the ball. From the baseline the Blade 104 feels stable at impact, but it also packs surprisingly good control, resulting in more confidence when attacking the ball. The generous head size, extended length and open 16x19 string pattern will not only help you load the ball with pace, but you'll also have the spin-potential to bring the ball down hard. At net this stick provides a comfortable and stable platform for redirecting pace, and there's enough pop to keep the ball deep or finish points with a bang. Aggressive servers who can exploit the extended length will be rewarded with very juicy levels of power and spin. Intermediate singles and doubles players looking for an extended length racquet with outstanding feel should give this one a serious look.
