Overview
For 2019, ProKennex updates the Ki Q+5 with a cool racecar cosmetic but keeps the explosive and accurate feel of the previous generation. At only 10.8 ounces strung, this stick is ideal for the intermediate player who wants a lively and spin-friendly racquet that doesn't skimp on feel, comfort or arm-protection. This racquet features the most evolved version of Kinetic Quadfocus Technology, which deploys movable mass in key locations around the head to create a more stable response. In addition to giving you greater protection against vibration, shock and torque, the moveable mass puts extra horsepower under the hood, making it easier for you to control the point with higher levels of pace. In conjunction with the Kinetic technology in the head, this racquet's butt cap features a Comfort Cap, which extends Kinetic technology to the handle for even greater protection against harsh vibrations. The Q+ 5 also features a firm SpiralTech Carbon layup, which removes impurities and air pockets from the graphite layers in order to provide extra strength and dampening. On groundstrokes the Q+5 feels solid for its weight. The moveable mass not only helps with plow through, but it adds extra pop to each swing, resulting in easier access to depth and power. The relatively thin 21.5mm beam delivers great feel, and there is more than enough spin-potential for bringing the ball down hard. Although this racquet is not quite as solid as the heavier Q+5 Pro or as powerful as the Q+15 models, it swings easy and drives the ball effectively on full swings. At net the Ki Q+5 not only feels stable for its weight class, but it comes around fast, making it great on reaction volleys. Finally, aggressive servers should appreciate how easily this one whips through contact. All in all, this racquet's comfort, speed and controllable power make it a very attractive option for intermediate players.
