Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour Women's Tennis Shoe Review
Mizuno tennis shoes are known for being among the best lightweight and comfortable options on the court. With the new Wave Enforce Tours, durable and stable can now be added to that list. These high-performing tennis shoes deliver excellent cushioning and rebound thanks to Mizuno's signature Wave technology and an Ener-Z midsole. Not to mention, the Enforce Tours come with a six-month outsole durability guarantee! While the three women on this playtest have different foot types and playing styles, they were all on the same page when it came to these shoes. Highlights included impressive cushioning, stability, durability and traction. They were also unanimous on the fit, finding the shoes to run a tad short with a medium (to generous medium) width. While the Wave Enforce Tours are some of the lightest shoes in their category, our testers found that they didn't feel as quick as the scale might indicate. Overall, players who spend a lot of time on court and are looking for comfort, durability and stability will not be disappointed with the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tours.

Breakdown SummaryBreakdown
Comfort: 7.9
The Wave Enforce Tours offer step-in comfort, however, our playtesters did have some fit issues due to length. Brittany has been a big fan of Mizuno tennis shoes (and running shoes!) for over eight years now, so she was excited to see a new Mizuno box on her desk. She described, "The first thing I always do is try on the shoes and do a fit check at my desk. In my true size 8, I found the shoes to run a tad short, maybe a quarter size. However, I also found them extremely roomy in width for my narrow feet. I ultimately chose to stay in my true size because there was too much room width-wise when I went up a half size and wore a thick sock. However, I feel like my feet were a size 8.25 in these shoes. I thought the underfoot cushioning was plush and responsive from my heel to forefoot. There was decent cushioning around the ankle, but the tongue was a little lacking for me. It took a slight break-in period of one hitting session for the uppers to start to mold around my feet. Ventilation was about average, and the arch support was enough for me."

"Mizuno's shoes always provide great cushioning, so I was expecting no less from these Wave Enforce Tours," added Michelle. "The midsole was soft and cushioned, and the uppers were very comfortable. As the playtest went on, the uppers literally felt like slippers on my feet. I could feel the cushioning through the outsole and could even poke the sides of the midsole and see how plush the cushioning felt! I also noted these shoes fit a bit wider than the Wave Exceed Tours and were a bit roomy. The laces were quite long as well, so I double-knotted the laces when the shoes were cinched up, and they were still a bit lengthy. I had no complaints when it came to comfort, and these shoes came at a good time for me. I had been struggling with comfort in some of the shoes we had been testing, and getting these on my feet always proved to be comfortable. As far as ventilation, I didn't notice them running too hot, but they weren't the breeziest shoes either; there is some TPU on the uppers to help with the structure and support.”
Our wide-footed playtester, Tiffani wasted no time trying the shoes on, saying, "These Wave Enforce Tours are definitely the widest fitting Mizuno tennis shoes I've tried. Both the Wave Exceed Tour and Exceed Tour Lights fit me much narrower. The Enforce Tours, on the other hand, feel like a medium with a slightly generous forefoot. Although these shoes were comfortable enough in the toe box, I wouldn't say they are wide shoes. My only other struggle with these shoes is that I found them to run about a quarter-size short. I felt between sizes and decided to stick with my true size for the playtest. Aside from the length, I enjoyed the overall comfort of these shoes. There's plenty of cushioning beneath my feet, and despite the plush feel, I thought the shoes had decent breathability."
Foot Support / Stability: 8.2
The Mizuno Wave Enforce Tours provided both the support and the stability our playtesters needed on court. Tiffani was happy with how these shoes held her feet. She said, "The ankle collar seems like it's too big, but in reality, there's an inner sleeve that holds my heel in place. I didn't even use the extra eyelets with these shoes, which I typically do for a more secure feel. The shoes did run a bit short, and my toes were nearly to the end. Still, I didn't have big issues with toe jamming in the Enforce Tours."
"In my last Mizuno playtest, I was left wanting a little more stability; I was happy to see that Mizuno answered with the Enforce Tours!"
Brittany added, "In the Enforce Tours, I thought the levels of support and stability were increased compared to the Exceed Tours. I was thoroughly impressed with the stability and the locked-in feel around my heels, and I was really able to cinch up my laces. I didn't even need to use the last eyelets. My ankles were secure within the shoes, even when I was aggressively moving during point play. I could have used just a tad more support, though. My feet were moving around side to side, but I attributed this to my narrow feet not filling out the width of the shoes."
Michelle thought these shoes were solid in terms of stability. She described, "I always felt really stable and confident when going for wide balls and then recovering on the court. The support was good too, but with the slightly wider fit, it was a bit tough to really get cinched up. Sometimes there was a little wiggle room on the sides of the shoe. It wasn’t detrimental, but the fit just wasn’t as locked-up as it is in a shoe like the Exceed Tour. It's also worth noting that these shoes didn't feel as streamlined (or as some might say, race-ready) as other shoes in this category, so I found myself looking for something that held my feet in super snuggly so I could get going faster."
Overall Sole Durability: 9.2
Receiving the highest marks of the playtest in this category, every aspect of the Wave Enforce Tours proved to be durable for our team. Michelle was shocked by how durable the outsoles were on these shoes. She said, "This playtest went on for several weeks, so I spent a lot of time in these shoes, and I am only seeing very light smoothing on the outsole. Mizuno has nailed down their rubber compound, and the brand consistently makes shoes with long-lasting outsoles."
"The durability for the outsoles and toes was above average for me," continued Tiffani. "These shoes have a durability guarantee, but I don't think I'll be needing to use that at all. I'm seeing virtually no wear under the forefoot or at the tips of the toes, which are usually my high-wear areas."

While Brittany didn't test the Enforce Tours to the fullest due to fit issues, she did spend about eight to 10 hours on court. She explained, "It is safe to say these shoes are extremely durable from the outsole to the toe bumper to the upper. I am seeing no wear on the outsole and am confident they have many hours of life yet. And there is a six-month durability guarantee! The other high-wear areas are showing zero wear as well. High marks from me!"
Traction: 8.3
The playtest team was able to move aggressively in the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tours while feeling connected to the court. Michelle had no issues or complaints about the traction on these shoes. She said, "The outsoles are not too sticky and not too slick. The traction worked well for me, and I never had to think about it."
Brittany enjoyed the balanced traction of the modified tread pattern. She described, "I don't have a lot to say about the traction, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The outsole offered a nice balance of give and grip, maybe just slightly to the grippy side. However, I didn't have to think about it throughout the playtest, and that’s a plus."
"The grip on the court was always reliable."
Tiffani agreed with the other playtesters. She added, "I didn't feel stuck to the court, but I didn't feel like I was slipping either. It's always a good thing when you can cover the court without hesitation!"
Weight: 7.7
Weighing in at only 11.4 ounces (women's US size 8.5), the Wave Enforce Tours are some of the lightest shoes in their category. Brittany was expecting these shoes to be heavier on the scale, especially when she was comparing them to the Exceed Tours. This was mainly due to the materials used (built-up upper, cushioned midsole and outsole). She explained, "While the shoes do play heavier, they didn't affect my movement or slow me down in any way. I was surprised to see their actual weight and how light they are on the scale. I do think they play a little heavier than their actual weight indicates."

Michelle agreed that these shoes felt a bit heavier than she expected. She said, "These Enforce Tours are fairly light for the category they fit into (which doesn't mean they are light; I would call them middle-weight shoes), but they didn't feel as fast as other shoes in this category. For example, the Asics Court FF 3s weigh a bit more on the scale but feel faster on the court. The Wave Enforce Tours weren't bulky, but they did feel a bit flat at times. I think the wider fit, very comfy midsole and shape of the shoes just made them feel a bit slower."
Tiffani was in a similar boat as the other playtesters when it came to the Enforce Tour's weight. She concluded, "Although I wouldn't call these shoes heavy, they don't feel as nimble around the court as I would have expected. These shoes don't weigh a lot, but their build isn't as sleek as the Wave Exceed Tour and Tour Light. I would say the Enforce Tours felt middle of the road in terms of weight rather than quick and light."

Playtester Thoughts

Michelle
I would put the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tours in a similar category as the Asics Court FF 3s and the adidas Cybersonics. They are all shoes that try to do it all really well by combining stability and speed, yet I found these Wave Enforce Tours to feel a bit slower to rev up in compared to the other two, although they are still well cushioned and comfortable.
Good cushioning, comfortable experience, solid durability. The Wave Enforce Tours are good shoes that do everything pretty well!
The fit isn't perfect for my feet and they are a little wide. They feel a bit heavier and slower than other shoes I would compare them to.

Tiffani
The support, stability and weight of the Enforce Tours feel more substantial when compared to the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 5s and Tour Lights. They also fit more true to medium rather than the narrow fit of those models. I would compare these shoes to the KSwiss Ultrashot 3s in terms of performance.
The cushioning is nice, and I like the support feature around the ankles.
The length fit feels off.

Brittany
Mizuno came up with lightweight yet durable shoes, so there isn't much on the market to compare the Wave Enforce Tours to. However, compared to the Mizuno Wave Exceed Tours, these shoes offer more stability and durability but my feet feel a little higher off the ground. Other shoes that play similarly include the KSwiss Ultrashot 3s, Head Revolt Pro 4.0s and Diadora Speed B.Icon 2s.
I like the underfoot cushioning, stability and durability.
The Wave Enforce Tours don't fit my feet correctly.
