With a perfect blend of grip and give from the outsoles and a secure, stable fit, these shoes gave our players the confidence to move around the court at top speeds. Offering a roomier fit, especially through the forefoot, the Power Cushion Fusion Revs are a great choice for aggressive players with wider feet.

Comfort - Score: 4.1

Our playtesters had mixed feelings about the comfort and fit of the Power Cushion Fusion Revs. For Jason, these shoes were a good fit. He explained, "I really liked the way the Power Cushion Fusion Revs fit my wider feet. Unlike the Power Cushion Pros that I playtested earlier, these were comfortable right out of the box. The cushioning in the heel was very good, but I felt like the forefoot could've used just a tad more. On the plus side, these shoes had a lower to the ground feel than previous Yonex shoes I've tried. I did notice these shoes getting pretty warm after an hour of play. It wasn't much of an issue during play, but I wouldn't wear them much longer after a hit."

Andy agreed, adding, "One of the strengths of these shoes is their comfort, and more specifically the cushioning. Right out of the box I could feel the pillowy cushioning all around my feet. The fit was nice and roomy, making it ideal for players with wider feet. I found these shoes to be decently ventilated, although during long training sessions they would get a little warm at the end."

On the other hand, our two playtesters with narrower feet were struggling to find a secure fit during this test. Like Jason, Troy also wished for more cushioning underfoot. He critiqued, "It felt like there was no cushioning between the balls of my feet and the court. I do appreciate a low-to-ground ride in my shoes, but I still found the area underneath the balls of my feet to be too firm. I also felt comfort could be improved in the toe area. The rubber in front of my toes was a bit too firm and caused some toe jamming anytime I was on a full sprint forward and had to come to a quick stop. Given that the fit was wide and the toe box was too roomy for my feet, I was sliding inside these shoes too much. On the plus side, the tongue of these shoes was plush, and the area around the ankle collar was well padded."

Mark struggled, but he did find one highlight. He said, "I immediately felt very comfortable in these shoes. The uppers, including the tongue, were especially cushioned. They were still comfortable even after a couple of hours on the court, and they were well-ventilated enough. However, I have high arches and fairly medium width feet, and the fit was a bit too roomy for me and lacked sufficient arch support. I would have preferred a slightly higher speed bump under my arches for more support."

Foot Support/Stability - Score: 3.9

All of our testers found the Power Cushion Fusion Revs to offer more than enough support and stability to keep them comfortable and confident when changing direction at top speeds. "These are very stable shoes, and I never felt like I was going to roll over the side during any lateral movements," Mark praised. "I also liked the way the heels cradled my feet. The support and stability of these shoes afforded me more confidence during lateral starts and stops than most other tennis shoes I have worn or tested."

Jason felt that the unique lacing system enhanced the support of these shoes. He shared, "The soft uppers didn't require a break in and they also did a really good job providing stability and rigidity during play. The asymmetrical lacing really did provide a locked-in feel without causing pain from any pressure points. There was just a slight twinge of sliding forward within the shoe on occasion when I was trying to stop my forward movement."

Andy grew more and more confident in these shoes as the test wore on. He explained, "Support and stability were good, and they got better as the test wore on. At first my feet were sliding around inside my shoes a bit when I made aggressive lateral cuts. However, as the test wore on, the uppers softened up and wrapped my feet a little more securely, and by the end of the test I had no issues moving and cutting at top speeds."

Although he struggled with the comfort, Troy felt safe moving around in these shoes. He said, "Initially I felt the support of these shoes was lacking because they didn't provide a glove-like fit for my feet. I found that I could cinch the laces tightly to get the shoes to lock in my ankles, but the forefoot area still allowed my feet to slide around. I found the fit to be much more secure when I wore two pairs of socks, and I was feeling locked in during aggressive movements. The stability of these shoes was good considering they fall into the lightweight to lower mid-weight class. The low-to-the-ground forefoot kept me comfortable during quick changes of direction. I never felt as if my heels were slipping out of the shoes, and I felt that my ankles were secure."

Overall Sole Durability - Score: 4.2

Everyone was really impressed with the durability of the Power Cushion Fusion Revs. Troy's pair showed little sign of wear at the end of the test. He said, "I was pleasantly surprised to find that the outsoles of these shoes held up well during this playtest. The outsole in general didn't wear down much, and the only area where I noticed balding of the tread was toward the toe region. Compared to other lightweight shoes, the Power Cushion Fusion Revs offered the best protection in the toe region, which is typically the area where I wear out my shoes the fastest."

"These shoes held up really well throughout the entire test," Andy raved. "The outsoles are nice and thick, with plenty of life left on them at the end of the playtest. The tread pattern shows little to no balding whatsoever. The toe and medial sides on the uppers also withstood wear really nicely, making these a great option for players who are hard on their shoes."

Jason has yet to find a Yonex shoe that will wear out quickly for him, and these were no exception. He shared, "I've been impressed with the durability of the previous Yonex shoes I've tested, and it continues with this pair. Even though the Fusion Rev doesn't have the durability guarantee and features a lighter ride, I was still getting tons of wear out of it. After 15-plus hours on court I see minimal signs of tread balding."

"I have to give these shoes high marks for their durability," Mark added. "The toe area is very well protected."

Traction - Score: 4.4

Every tester agreed that the Power Cushion Fusion Revs offered great traction for hard court play. "I thought these shoes provided a great balance of grip and give for some nice traction overall," Andy praised. "I was able to execute some aggressive slides on the hard courts, and when doing so I had the confidence of knowing when these shoes would allow me to slide and when they would grab the court."

Jason concurred, saying, "I thought these shoes offered excellent traction. Again, comparing them to past Yonex shoes, they're right on par with the Power Cushion Pro. There was enough grip for aggressive cuts and direction changes. I moved with confidence with these shoes on my feet."

Troy was completely confident in the traction of these shoes, saying, "Traction was superb with these shoes! The Yonex Endurance rubber compound provided excellent grip on the court surface whenever I needed to come to a quick stop. These weren't the fastest shoes that I have tried, but the fact that I could change direction so aggressively allowed me to track down a lot of balls."

Mark tested his pair on a few different courts and had the same positive experience. He raved, "I played on three different hard courts during this test, and on all three I got an almost perfect level of traction and a very predictable amount of slide."

Weight - Score: 3.5

There were mixed opinions about how the weight of the Power Cushion Fusion Revs translated to its on-court feel. Jason enjoyed the lightweight feel, and he said, "These shoes felt speedy, with a low to the ground ride. I didn't think they hindered my movement at all, and I felt connected to the court. They offered a different ride than the Power Cushion Pros, which I liked."

Comparing these shoes to some of his other favorites, Troy shared, "If the Fusion Revs were a boxer they'd be a top contender in the welterweight class. These shoes felt heavier than the top lightweight shoes like the Asics Gel Solution Speed 2, Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour and adidas adizero Ubersonic, but they felt a bit lighter than my Asics Gel Resolution 6 and the Lotto Stratosphere."

On the other hand, Andy felt slightly hampered by what he thought was a somewhat clunky design. He shared, "I did find these shoes to be a little on the bulky side when I was on the court. This is most likely a trade-off for the excellent cushioning and durability, but it did feel at times like I was carrying a lot on my feet. You don't ride all that low to the ground, either."

Like Andy, Mark thought these shoes felt heavier than their actual weight. He said, "I have to admit that I was a little surprised that these shoes weigh as little as they do; they felt slightly bulky and heavy to me. They did have excellent durability and stability, which are normally traits to be found in heavier shoes."

Overall - Score: 3.9

Likes

Andy- "Excellent comfort, cushioning and durability."

Jason- "The wider fit, stability and durability."

Troy- "The lateral stability and traction were the best attributes of the Power Cushion Fusion Revs. The curved lacing system also allowed me to cinch the laces tightly and lock in my ankles."

Mark- "I liked the stability and how the lacing system locked in each foot. Traction, durability and support were also very good."

Dislikes

Andy- "They're a tad bulky for my liking."

Jason- "I would've liked a bit more cushioning in the forefoot and more perforations in the uppers."

Troy- "The forefoot was too roomy for my narrow foot type. This sometimes caused my feet to slide forward and jam into the toe guard."

Mark- "They felt heavier than their actual weight would indicate."

Comparing the shoe to others they've tried, our testers said:

Andy- "The Power Cushion Fusion Revs are definitely a comfort/cushioning play from Yonex with a wider, roomier fit. They reminded me of the KSwiss Hypercourt Express and Babolat SFX shoes, but the Fusion Revs had the best durability of the bunch. If you're a player who has wider feet, is tough on your shoes and/or places a premium on cushioning, these shoes are certainly worth a try."

Jason- "The Power Cushion Fusion Revs fit like the Babolat SFX. They're a stripped down version of the Power Cushion Pro."

Troy- "This was my first Yonex shoe playtest. I have heard that some of the previous models have a slightly wider than medium fit, so these shoes should fall in line. The fit reminded me of the New Balance MC 1005 Ds, but the Power Cushion Fusion Revs have much better lateral stability. The KSwiss Stabilor SLS shoes that I tested back around 2008 had a similar fit for me, although the Yonex shoes are quite a bit lighter."

Mark- "I can favorably compare the Yonex Power Cushion Fusion Revs with Prince's T22s, Babolat's SFXs, Head's Sprint Pros, Nike's Lunar Ballistec 1.5s and K-Swiss' Hypercourt Express shoes."
