The return of the finger lacing system also means players can get a secure fit in these Vapor 12s. What helps set these shoes apart from our other favorite lightweight shoes is the fit band in the midfoot increases lock-down and delivers more confidence on quick side-to side cuts.

Our Pick: Asics Solution Speed FF 4

With this latest iteration, the Solution Speed FF 4 continues to deliver plenty of speed around the court along with some nice cushioning underfoot. When shoes are light, sometimes cushioning can be spartan. That's not the case with the Solution Speed FF 4. With FlyteFoam in the midsole, these shoes felt cushioned, especially in the heel. Our playtesters felt well supported, and although not as stable as something like the Gel Resolution X, these Solution Speeds were trustworthy for lateral movements as well.

Our Pick: adidas Defiant Speed 2

Released in 2024, the Defiant Speed 2 captured our playtesters' attention for its mix of lightweight on-court performance and off-court style. This shoe also gets pro player approval and is worn on tour by Alexander Zverev. The other shoes on this list cost around $150 or more, so with a price under $120, the Defiant Speed 2 is an excellent lightweight option at a good price.

Our Pick: KSwiss K-Frame Speed

The KSwiss K-Frame Speeds are one of our picks as Best Tennis Shoes for men, and our men's testing team had really high praise for this model that came out in 2025. Although they are among the heavier shoes on this list, these bootie-fit shoes blend a plush ride with a balance of speed, stability and support. Our testers raved about these shoes when they tested them in late 2025 for their impressive comfort and support-to-weight ratio. Being a little more built up also means these K-Frame Speeds have good durability for fast-feeling shoes. That's not to say these are going to be the most durable shoes available, but if you are looking for speed shoes that last a bit longer, these would be our pick.

The Wilson design team worked with WTA player Marta Kostyuk to craft tennis shoes to fit the needs of female tennis players. Marta's desire for shoes that felt like running shoes meant for racing around the tennis court. With that directive in mind, Wilson's designers came up with the Intrigue Tour. The new flagship women's shoe from Wilson quickly won over our playtesters for their comfort and performance feel. These shoes aren't the lightest shoes on the scale, but they feel very quick around the court. And with all their cushioning and support, we think the weight is just right.
