Our Favorite Women's Tennis Shorts for 2025
We've picked our favorite shorts that are designed for the tennis courts. These shorts are perfect for tennis because they either have pockets to store balls or a built-in compression shortie that you can tuck extra tennis balls underneath. Plus, shorts aren't just for practice anymore! Some of these new tennis shorts have plenty style for match days too. (Updated July 2025)

Best Match Day Shorts: adidas Gameset Match Short

We didn't pick the adidas Gameset Match Short as best for matches just because it's in the name! The look has the style for tournaments and has a "fancy" overall vibe. We love that these shorts are very high waisted, making them great to pair with the trendier mid-length tops and crop tops. The darting on the shorts gives them a dressier look that's perfect for matches, and the fabric is also on the thicker side for coverage and a slimming look. A built-in shortie gives you quick storage for extra tennis balls.
Best Shorts with No Compression: Under Armour Play Up Shorts

These Play Up Shorts have been in Under Armour's line for years. We're showing them here in basic black, but because they're perennial favorites, Under Armour offers them in several colors throughout the year. We also appreciate that there are length options to choose from. You can go for the shorter 3-inch inseam or get a bit more coverage from the 5-inch inseam choice.
Best Versatile Tennis Shorts: Sofibella Team Short

We can't get enough of Sofibella Team Shorts for their soft feel and easy fit. They're 2-in-1 shorts with the inner shortie to provide ball storage. Like with other Sofibella items, the fabric feels soft to the touch. These shorts have a looser outer short for an overall relaxed fit. We love the comfort of these shorts for both on the court and off-court workouts.
Best Shorts for Storage: adidas Club Short

adidas updated its Club Short style for 2025, and we're loving the improvements. The sides of the short are a bit longer than the previous version, which makes them more universal in their fit. There's plenty of storage options with the built-in tight and side pockets. Look for these in basic black and white year-round along with seasonal colors sprinkled throughout the year.
Best Value Shorts: Head Rally Woven Shorts

These Head Rally Woven Shorts are lightweight and won't lighten your wallet too much! At under $35, these shorts are our best value pick. They're contenders for best storage options too. They have the built-in tight along with zippered side pockets. We prefer the non-zippered pockets of the adidas Club Shorts if you're trying to store tennis balls, but the zippered pockets are great when you want to keep your keys or other small items secure.
Of course these are just a few highlights of tennis shorts. There are plenty of great styles to choose from. You can check out our women's tennis shorts page to shop by inseam length and features.
