Best Prince Racquet For Me
Prince is beloved for making some of the most comfortable and classic feeling racquets out there. Additionally, their modern frames have pushed the boundaries of innovation with new geometries, string patterns, etc. If you're wondering which Prince racquet may be best for your game, this article will break down all the various families for you.
Tour
The Tour family from Prince is its most premium performance silo of racquets. These frames feature a variety of weights and string patterns, but the overall line has been tightened up for the initial 2026 release. There are four main models, the Tour 98, the Tour 100 310, Tour 100 290, and the Tour 100P. The Tour 98 features a tried-and-true 16x19 string pattern, 98 square-inch head size, and a 305 gram unstrung weight. The Tour 100 310 uses a more open 16x18 string pattern, and has more mass for even more power access. The 290 is the most accessible option currently, and the 100P has an 18x20 string pattern for better directional control and precision.
Ripstick
The all-new Ripstick family is designed for an impressive blend of comfort and power, with unique O-Ports all along the racquet's edge. The O-Ports create a more flexible stringbed that allows for deeper ball pocketing, more spin production, and more comfort all at once. For those who want a little more mass and a little more control, the Ripstick 98 answers that particular call. For most players though, the regular Ripstick 100 is a great average weight option in stock form. And for those who need an even lighter stick, the Ripstick 100 280 is perfect.
"The Ripstick 98 was maneuverable enough to get to the ball in time even when hitting against bigger hitters, and the stability held up well, so I was happy."
-Munish, TW Playtester
"With the Ripstick 100, I found I could hit very aggressively without sacrificing consistency with that style of play."

Ripcord
The Ripcord family is a brand-new line for Prince, aimed toward players who prefer power and easy spin access, but with a primary emphasis on power above all else. These racquets feature beams that are thicker at the end of the hoop, increasing plow through and granting the racquet some additional pace generation. For those craving some extra spin and pocketing (as well as control), the Ripcord 98 XS offers a smaller head-size with a slightly tweaked layup, optimizing dwell time to shape the ball with heavy spin during contact. Elsewhere, the more powerful 100 square-inch head sizes in the family offer a little more forgiveness for beginners and intermediates alike. Make no mistake though, the playability of the Ripcord 100s is up to any challenge.
"The Ripcord 100 300g is one of those racquets that's just easy to pick up and use. I found it to be a great all-around performer, and I was getting reliable power and spin. I found it to be a bit more powerful than control oriented, but the balance of performance wasn't tipped too far in any one direction."
-Tiffani, TW Playtester
"On the baseline, this Prince 98 XS is just super comfortable. I truly enjoyed that connected feel and amazing pocketing. I barely felt any vibration, even on off-center shots. I was getting plenty of power, but it still felt controlled. I also loved having easy access to spin as well!"

Phantom
The Phantom line is currently the most traditional and flexible out of Prince's current offerings. These arm-friendly frames emphasize comfort and feel above all else. Typically, Prince's Phantom racquets have thinner beams, for more of that classic feeling, and lower RA ratings, for improved shock absorption. Most of the options within this family cater to a specific audience, whether that's fans of the O-Port design with the O3 Phantom 100X, or those who like oversize options with the Phantom 107G. In the standard range, there is both an open 16x18 305g option, and a denser pattern offering with the 18x20 100X 305g Phantom. For those who want more of a rectangular geometry, the 100P has squared-off edges and thinner profiles on the whole.
"I honestly don't mind that the Phantom 100X 305 is low powered because it allows me to hit all out. I also really enjoyed the great spin potential of the frame! I right away noticed that the launch angle was pretty high and that I could really tap into that and put a lot of spin on my balls, which I truly loved."
-Zsofi, TW Playtester
"I liked the plush and soft feel on my volleys, which I think enhanced my touch shots, like drop volleys. No matter how hard the ball was hit at me, volleys felt smooth and plush with the O3 Phantom."
-Troy, TW Playtester
"I liked the solid and very controlled feel of the Phantom 100X 18x20 2024 on groundstrokes. The dense string pattern made it easy for me to control the depth of my shots. I felt very comfortable taking a full cut at the ball and trusting my shot would stay within the lines. The grip from the stringbed was also perfect on my backhand slice."
-Chris, TW Playtester
"Basically all I had to do to produce an effective volley was park the strings on a spot under the ball, and the 2024 Phantom 100P did the rest. Whether I was reaching for a volley to just keep it in play or had time to set up to put one away, the 2024 Phantom 100P maximized my enjoyment of hitting volleys and was reliably obedient."
-Mark, TW Playtester
"I knew the Phantom 107G 2024 was going to be a fun playtest with its unique specs and playability. The racquet offers a little more easy power and had a higher launch angle, allowing me to hit my groundstrokes deep in the court. I was also surprised that the racquet was spin-friendly, and I was able to throw in some topspin angles from time to time."

Warrior
The Prince Warrior line is a great option for a new player starting off, or for a novice still developing their technique. The pre-strung racquets arrive ready-to-play, and are made more in the vein of power-based racquet families to make learning the game easier. Available in a variety of weights and head sizes for every kind of player.
Legacy
The Prince Legacy and Premier racquets are lightweight, oversize options that are great for the aging doubles player, or for those needing a noticeable uptick in power. Starting at 105 square-inches and going all the way up to 120 square-inches for head sizes, these racquets are forgiving and powerful, letting players comfortably swing out. Great as a gift for those wanting to get someone else into tennis.
Twistpower
For those who build their game around spin, the Twistpower is Prince's first and foremost spin-based franchise. Available in a standard and slightly oversized option, the Twistpower is a more comfortable alternative to spin-heavy frames from other manufacturers. If you like a unique hitting experience, the Twistpower may be just right for you.
