One of the games most powerful and spin-friendly weapons gets updated with enhanced dampening for 2025

Babolat adds another chapter to one of the game's most dangerous players' racquets. With its extended length, powerful beam construction, and open string pattern, the Pure Drive Plus gives aggressive players the ability to overwhelm their opponents with heavy pace. In addition to giving you extra leverage on groundies, this racquet's extended length translates into an unmistakable boost in power on serves. Although not as nimble as the standard Pure Drive at net, this extended-length racquet comes around surprisingly fast in the front court, making it a formidable all-court weapon. For 2025, Babolat adds its NF2 Tech 2.0, which uses flax fibers in the throat to dampen harsh vibrations (a welcome feature, considering the stiff beam). This model also inherits FSI Power from the previous generation, consisting of a bundle of technologies that enable the string bed to transfer more energy to the ball. Other features include Babolat's HTR System, a layup strategy that stiffens the hoop in a way that not only enhances power but creates more stability and less frame noodling on off-center impact (think rebound control). Ultimately, this update keeps a good thing going. Although you'll appreciate the enhanced dampening and comfort, the star of the show remains its dangerous combination of power and spin.

Good frame(4/5) The 2025 Pure Drive Plus is one of the best extended-length racquets I’ve played with in years. It’s a modern power frame that rewards aggressive tennis and has the potential to be an absolute weapon with the right string setup. The biggest strength is the serve. The extra half-inch gives you excellent leverage, making it easy to hit big flat serves while still generating plenty of action on second serves. When everything is clicking, this racquet can produce effortless pace. From the baseline, the Pure Drive Plus offers the classic Pure Drive combination of easy depth and penetrating power. You don’t have to swing at 100% to hit a heavy ball, and it rewards players who like to dictate points with aggressive groundstrokes. Compared to many modern power frames, it still does a good job of maintaining directional control. Volleys are solid and stable, with enough pop to finish points cleanly. While it isn’t a traditional control frame, it feels dependable at net and is easy to maneuver for an extended-length racquet. My biggest criticism is that the racquet can be somewhat sensitive to string choice and tension. With some setups it can feel a little boardy or overly firm, while with others it can become more powerful than I prefer. It took some experimentation before I found combinations that really brought out the best in the frame. I also think the feel isn’t quite as connected as some of Babolat’s older classics, such as the AeroPro Drive Plus or Pure Drive Roddick Plus. Those racquets had a more lively, explosive response that I still slightly prefer. That said, these are relatively minor complaints. The Pure Drive Plus does almost everything well: it serves big, produces easy power, rewards aggressive play, and has enough stability to perform in every area of the court. Overall, I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars. It’s an excellent racquet that falls just short of being an all-time classic, but for players looking for a powerful extended frame, it’s one of the best options currently available.

PURE DRIVE PLUSPlease bring back 74 stiffness on the PURE DRIVE PLUS. That was the racquet to have. Always gave me the power when needed and more top spin with less effort. The 69 stiffness is too much flex. Dedicated PURE DRIVE PLUS Player

Improve PURE DRIVE PLUSThis latest version of the racquet is exactly what the previous model was missing. It's a huge improvement, making it less rigid and more maneuverable. It maintains the same powerful, high-spin racquet configuration. Fantastic.

Babolat RulesPurchased Babolat Pure Drive Plus after a demo and has been a harmonious transition from last two versions. Find it similar to Roddick Pure Drive I have been using. It is a bit lighter which I like. Groundies from both sides are solid and crisp when striking the sweet spot. Net game with volleys solid as well. Serves give me solid power and spin. Overall, satisfied and a great racquet that rewards compact hitting. Strung it with RPM Blast 17 gauge at 49lbs. I play mixed an mens dubs only.
