Overview
Experienced players looking for a spin-friendly weapon with outstanding feel should love this update to the VCORE 98. In addition to providing more control than the VCORE 100, this stick has a tad more mass, resulting in greater stability when plowing through the ball. For 2021 Yonex re-engineers the beam, giving it a thicker cross-section in the head for added power and stability. Yonex has also widened the upper portion of the hitting area, making for a more spin-friendly and responsive contact zone. New technologies include Flex Force, which utilizes a uniquely flexible graphite (NAMD-2) to help the racquet bend optimally at impact. Yonex has also redesigned the grommet system with String Sync, which utilizes funnel shaped inserts to help the strings snap back more powerfully during impact (think spin). Additional technologies include a Vibration Dampening Mesh in the handle for added comfort, along with a couple aerodynamic features that reduce wind drag and increase racquet speed. From the backcourt, the VCORE 98 not only feels solid when redirecting higher levels of pace, it also delivers mindless precision on full swings. In addition to delivering the needed spin to bring the ball down hard, this stick moves faster than a traditional player's racquet, giving you the all-court mobility to charge the net and finish points with authority. It also shines on serve where the combination of spin and precision will enable you to swing for power. With some impressive updates to the beam construction and feel, the VCORE 98 keeps getting better. Experienced players looking for the total package should start here.

Great racquetGreat for groundstrokes. Stable forever.
Powerful upgradeI use to play with Ezone DR 98. This Vcore from Yonex is an upgrade for my game: better power and better volleys!
PerfectAmazing spin potential, very stable, and super juicy.
Great!Great Racquet!
VCoreMy son bought this racquet with his money that he saved and loves it. He already has a teammate wanting one.
String pattern a little too open for meAm a 4.5 baseline player in my 30s. With the 16x19 string pattern and the unique shape of Yonex racquets I found it to be a little too springy and difficult to control.
Good racquet with lots of free spinThis is a good racquet that will give you lots of spin but if you are an advanced is lighter than my previous one, the Wilson Pro Staff 97RF. It has taken me a little while to get use to it, but once you do you will appreciate it. A suggestion for advanced players used to a heavier racquets is to add some weight with lead tape for more control. Overall an excellent choice.
Yonex vcore 98Heavier than expected. Hard to control shots even after several hours of play. Going back to my Babolat Pure Strike.
Love at first use! This racquet has it all for me, power, control, maneuverable, feel, and it is good looking too. In spite of me it does everything well, forehands, backhands, volleys and serves. The racquet helps me in every way. If you are looking for the perfect racquet, this is it. I’ve been playing for over fifty years and I’ve tried many, many other sticks, too many. This one is great!
I wish this were available in a 90 sq in framIf you can overlook the head size and the downsides that come with that - this is a great frame. Good enough in all respects except size. I wish it came in a 90 square inch size.... THEN it would be great.

Comments: Switched from the Yonex Ezone DR 98 to the newer VCORE 98. I'm a USTA 4.0 player looking for a little more access to spin. I loved the connected feel of the DR and its control. It was hard to leave that racquet. I do still keep one in the bag, but primarily play with the VCORE 98. The trade off, for me at least, was getting greater access to spin and the additional controllable power. I immediately noticed an increase in pace on ground strokes and serves. Im still getting adjusted to the dampened feel of the new Yonex technology. Volleys, touch shots, and slices had the longest adjustment period. Additionally, I needed to add a little weight to 10 and 2 to make it more playable for me. I took a look at the new EZONES, but couldn't gel with them. The VCORE 98 was a much easier switch. My string setup of 1.20 Yonex PolyTour Pro (yellow) hasn't changed at 52lbs.

Comments: I am a 4.0 male player. I hit a big serve and big forehand, and like to play with lots of spin. Prior to using the VCORE 98, I was using a Babolat Pure Drive. It was great for my serve, but I was finding it too hard to control and I could not keep the ball in the court to save my life on my ground strokes. I demoed several rackets, including the VCORE 98, Aero Pure Drive, EZONE 98, and their extended length variations. By far, the VCORE 98 had the best blend of spin and control for me, and allowed me to swing out without the ball flying long. I also love the feel on the string bed and solid feel of the frame. Overall, a wonderful racquet.

Comments: I am really enjoying the new VCORE 98. I guess I am a 4.0 or 4.5 all court player getting back into tennis after some time away. I demo'd several racquets in looking for a new one. The finalists were the VCORE, a Babolat Pure Strike 16x19 and the Head Radical MP. Honestly, I liked them all, but the VCORE offered me the best blend of spin, control and power in that order. Ground strokes are great as expected, but I was pleasantly surprised how well I was able to volley and hit serves, flat and kickers, with this racquet. Nice enough feel and stability, too. I hit a fairly spin oriented semi-western forehand, one handed backhand and like to come to net. For me, the topspin one hander is especially nice, while slices are not bad, too. Really pleased and would definitely recommend.

Comments: After playing the 2016 Babolat Pure Aero for 4 years, I wanted to find a racquet that felt like it had a little more weight in the head. With the Pure Aero, it felt difficult to generate lag. As loose as I'd hold the racquet, it still felt like the racquet would swing around my body as soon as I began my forward motion. Additionally, the Pure Aero didn't feel very stable on volleys. The VCORE 98 delivered on both of those requirements compared to the Pure Aero and racquets I demo'd (Head Speed, Wilson Clash, Wilson Blade) the VCORE 98 feels incredibly plush. Every player is different, but for me, choosing to buy the VCORE 98 was a very simple decision. I ordered three racquets, each with different string (Head Lynx Tour, Solinco Hyper-G and Solinco Confidential) all strung at 52 pounds. I love the feel of both the Solinco strings. With this current setup, I'm hitting quite a bit flatter than I was with my Pure Aero strung with RPM Blast, and have a bit of experimenting to do to find just the right setup for my game. I'm an athletic 4.0 (lower end) baseliner who likes to find opportunities to follow good approach shots to the net.

Comments: I've played the previous generation for a few years and recently purchased this updated VCORE 98. First thing I noticed is that the shape is slightly different. It's a bit less square and more like a balloon. The second thing I noticed while hitting it is that it's much more muted feeling that the last version. I'm sure some people would like that, but it doesn't work for me. It's almost like an EZONE in that respect. So yeah, a bummer overall. It is not going to be my stick of choice.

Comments: This is the best racquet that I have ever played with. I am coming from a Babolat Pure Aero and tried a few other spin-oriented racquets like the Head Extreme, and the Yonex Vcore 98 is the racquet that made me settle. It's much more control-oriented than the Pure Aero, though not quite as powerful. That's not to say this racquet is lacking in power in any way, shape or form. It provides the perfect balance between power and control, especially for more advanced players who have a modern game that relies heavily on topspin. May possibly be the best racquet ever!

Comments: I have played with a lot of racquets over the last 15 years. This racquet reminds me of my gold and black blades. I think it has great feel! I'm able to control my shots and the power is perfect. I'm playing the best tennis and beating my usual competitors more often. I'm going to buy 5 of these. Power, control, and touch! A total winner!

Comments: I demo'd several racquets alongside this one, including the EZONE 98, Pro Staff 97 and Babolat Pure Aero. Power, easy access to spin but not hard to control either. I'm coming from a Pure Drive for 5+ years and this feels like a huge upgrade in almost every way. It may not beat the Pure Drive in terms of sheer power, but it does with everything else. Very arm friendly and comfortable hitting so far. I also feel like I might be the only one that actually likes the design choice.

Comments: I demoed both the VCORE 98 and the 95 for two weeks straight before settling on the 98 (bought 3 sticks). I string with Yonex Poly Tour Pro 130 at 52lbs. This stick is super comfortable and control oriented. The 95 has even more control. I play at the men's 4.5 level and needed that extra smidgeon of pop the 98 provides, but I could easily imagine someone at the 5.0/5.5 level who generates a lot of pace falling in love with the 95. I found the VCORE to be much more forgiving on the arm than the EZONE. Full, fast swings will be rewarded with good (but not extraordinary) spin, plush pocketing and a crisp sound off the strings. *Some* players with a more traditional flat style of hitting may find this racquet a bit difficult to wield. This stick is definitely developed for the modern whippy forehand technique. Definitely worth a demo for the 4.0+ player with developed technique and medium to fast swings.

Comments: I ordered another one of these sticks after hitting with the first one for a few months. This could possibly be the best racquet ever made in my opinion. The engineers and the people involved in its manufacture deserve a standing ovation.

Comments: Five stars! Love it, pairs great with Yonex POLYTOUR SPIN G strings. I even got a reel of them, my first reel actually! After trying more than 10 sets of various strings, my favorite being Babolat RPM Blast, this string feels amazing, similar, but with more feel and the price doesn't break the bank. The Yonex VCORE 98 is my new racquet of choice, after starting with Wilson, than HEAD Extreme MP and Pro 2019 model, Babolat Pure Strike 3rd Gen 2020 model, this racquet was a perfect one to graduate to after prior ones mentioned. I've demoed the VCORE 95 as well, seemed good, but not as easy to put spin with as the 98, felt more like a baseball bat, in terms of swing and control, harder to maneuver it. Also I demoed the EZONE 98 Tour and Plus and even though they felt better simply swinging them around, but when it came to actually hitting the ball, I got arm pain as I had to use more strength to actually make a swing and hit the ball with good control. None of those issues with this VCORE 98! Oh, and my serves gained 20 plus more MPH with way better consistency and reliability than my Babolat Pure Strike where I had to get everything completely perfect to make my serve go in. Comments: Yonex knocked it out of the park with this update. I think most people will find something to like. The previous version to me just didn't feel right, perhaps felt a little flimsy or without an identity. This update swings with a more defined purpose and cuts through the air. Compared to the Babolat Pure Aero, they are quite similar, but to me, the Aero on contact just felt a little bit like hitting with a cardboard box, something about ball contact felt weirdly muffled. This VCORE feels good, it is still comfortable and I wouldn't say it's more crisp necessarily, but the feel is a bit cleaner to me than the Aero. Regarding cosmetic, it's all subjective. I look at this and feel like it doesn't make any sense, yet somehow I like it, like a puppy at the pet store that is not the cutest, but keeps grabbing your attention. I like it far better than the monotonous red that it was before.

Comments: I've hit with this stick for a couple of months now and I'm finally maximizing its potential by adding lead to 3, 9, and 12 o'clock in addition to stringing between 45-49 pounds. This has provided just the right balance between power, control, and stability. I also extended the length by 3/16 inches to provide a tad bit more room for my two-handed backhand. Very plush feeling racquet with ample power and spin. This stick rewards aggressive, fast strokes on both groundstrokes and serves. I added lead at 3 and 9 o'clock for added stability on volleys. I'll order another one soon.

Comments: I loved the EZONE 98 Tour, but after serving and hitting with it, my elbow and shoulders would hurt a lot, perhaps because of its stiffness, and being head heavy didn't help. That's when I decided to move to this VCORE 98 after a quick demo at the local club. I don't get the same feel and plow through, but it's easy to generate power on serves and groundstrokes. Another advantage over the EZONE is its maneuverability and it is whippy. I can feel the flex when returning heavy groundstrokes and the pain is gone.

Comments: Great racquet. Nice feel, great spin, great control. Strung with Yonex Poly Tour Rev 17 gauge at 52 pounds.

Comments: Great looking stick, but that's where it ends for me. I just don't feel connected to the ball. The new version doesn't feel as brassy as the first generation, but there's no feel at all. Probably best in the hands of someone with very whippy strokes. Topspin is easy to generate. If you're an old school player that hits a flatter ball, I would recommend the EZONE line, or specifically the EZONE Tour.

Comments: Just got this racquet, moving to this from the EZONE DR 98. I absolutely love both racquets, but would have to say this new VCORE 98 is a step up. I am now hitting deeper into the court, with a lot more spin. Serving is now even better, more kick and jump, although maybe slightly less power. I also don't notice the weight difference, although it definitely feels a little head lighter. Next step for me, is to try adding a little weight at 3 and 9 o'clock. Overall an amazing racquet from Yonex. I use the Volkl Cyclone at 55 pounds, and am a 4.0-4.5 level player.

Comments: I compare this new VCORE 98 to the EZONE DR 98 cause of that magical feel that it has! Also the amount of spin and snapback I could easily get from the stringbed! I have my VCORE 98 strung up with Solinco Confidential 16L and Head Velocity at 50 and 53 pounds respectively. Overall an excellent frame from Yonex! I would highly recommend any NTRP player out there to give it a demo!
