Updated with a faster and more powerful beam construction for 2026

Yonex adds another chapter to the VCORE 98 Tour! Like the previous generation, this racquet combines spin-friendly targeting with a rock solid feel at impact. As the heaviest model in VCORE family, the 98 Tour is more challenging to swing than the standard VCORE 98, but it does a better job absorbing and redirecting the pace of a big hitting opponent. It also delivers some serious knock-out power to those who can leverage its mass. On groundstrokes, the VCORE Tour 98 8th Gen rewards aggressive players with dangerous levels of pace and spin, while at net it feels rock solid on volleys, providing enough pop to finish points with authority. For 2026, Yonex redesigns the beam, giving it a faster, more aerodynamic shape while also thickening it in key locations for added stability and power. Additional 2026 updates include widening the grommet holes for increased string movement and greater snapback, as well as lengthening the inner trench at the tip for added flex and pocketing. To help with comfort, this racquet integrates a thin, elastic film (Servo Filter) within the layers of NAMD FlexForce Graphite, allowing the frame to flex optimally while also smoothing out the harshest vibrations. This effect is complemented by a Vibration Dampening Mesh integrated into the handle, which further softens impact. Ultimately, with some impressive updates to the feel and response, the VCORE 98 Tour continues to be an obvious option for experienced players looking for plow-through, pop, and spin.

Better off with the standard VCore 98I tried this looking for more spin after years with the Percept 97H. I think the VCore 2026 update is an exceptional frame in whatever spec you get it, with great spin, stability, and power. I also think it is more predictable than people think, it is just always powerful and always has a high launch angle. The issue, and why I am giving two stars, is the way Yonex has chosen to distribute the weight. TW lists it as 4pts head light and even though my measurements were close it feels much more head heavy. It’s almost like Yonex put all the extra weight at 12 o’clock and removed weight everywhere else. That means it feels like the tip of the racquet has a mind of its own and is very difficult to control. I suppose you could add weight elsewhere to make it feel less dramatic, but at that point you are into the 330-360g region which is beefy for the pros these days. I was hoping this would feel like my Percept: solid, great plow through, but still manageable. I will be getting the standard VCore 98 and weighting it up to my preferences, which is what I recommend most players do. Not sure what Yonex was trying to do with these specs, but even as someone who likes heavy sticks I’d say the balance on this makes it borderline unusable unless you’re on the ATP/WTA Tour.
