This extended length gem packs an impressive combination of power and precision

Defined by an impressive combination of power, spin, and precision, the EZONE 98+ is dangerous in the hands of aggressive players. Like the previous generation, this racquet combines the accuracy of a 98 square inch head with the extra leverage and pop of an extended 27.5" length. The result is a racquet that delivers heavy balls from the baseline and extra power on serves. It also has a 62-RA stiffness, giving it a buttery feel without the off-center wobble that sometimes afflicts flexbile frames. For 2025, Yonex makes slight tweaks to the frame's geometry, thickening the beam in the upper hoop to enhance power and stability, while adding a groove on the inner portion of the frame to help the racquet bend optimally through impact. To further enhance comfort, Yonex adds ultra-thin and flexible fibers to the shaft (called Minolon) to dampen harsh vibrations. Yonex also continues with 2G NAMD SPEED, an advanced material innovation that helps the frame transfer more energy to the ball. The most important design feature remains the ISOMETRIC head shape, which gives this stick an undeniably more plush and responsive feel than conventionally shaped equivalents. With incremental improvements to the feel, the 2025 EZONE 98+ remains the perfect racquet for advanced ball strikers looking for plow through, power, and precision.

A Great Racquet - For the Right PlayerI recently purchased the Yonex Ezone 98 plus and offer my review. Prior to this racquet, I used the Head Speed Pro Legend, the Gravity MP XL, the Blade 104, Diadem Nova + and the Babolat Pure Strike 100 16 x 20. This racquet combines the best from several of these frames in that it provides comfortable, controllable power, especially after I added .2 ounces of lead tape at 3 and 9 as well as .2 ounces of tungsten putty in the butt cap. With respect to feel and control, the racquet is very comfortable, almost to the level of a ProKennex frame. I have had zero shoulder or elbow discomfort, even on off center hits. While the string pattern is a 16 x 19, it actually plays closer to a 16 x 20. The launch angle is very predictable, and I have had no issues with balls sailing due to a trampoline effect. The racquet rewards you for hitting the sweet spot by the ball exploding of the string bed, but not to the extent you lose control. Power is excellent which is not surprising given that it is an extended frame. However, your mechanics must be sound since the swing weight is near 345 with my current set up. In other words, if your racquet preparation or foot work is off, you will struggle with this racquet. The extended length noticeably increases serve speed, perhaps as much as 4-7 mph. But again, you need sufficient strength and proper mechanics to experience this benefit. I would rate the spin potential as average. This is not a spin monster type of frame. While you can produce spin on any shot, the spin produced will be more determined by your mechanics than free spin produced by the racquet. In my view, the racquet best suits a player who likes to drive the ball with moderate spin or flatter groundstrokes rather than someone that hits heavy topspin or slice. Lastly, stability and plow through are above average once I made the aforedescribed modifications, but maneuverability is somewhat lacking. (You can blame the high swing weight on that) Overall, this is an excellent racquet for a player with strength, proper mechanics, sound foot work and seeking controllable power, especially on serves. Since this is an extended frame with a higher swing weight, there will likely be an adjustment period, but it is worth it in my opinion.

Super Fun to UseThis racquet compliments my game well. I'm a 4.0 doubles specialist and this racquet gave me a ton of controllable free power.
