This new addition to Wilson's most legendary franchise provides a slightly more forgiving hitting experience to intermediate and advanced players

Introducing the Pro Staff X v14! With this racquet, Wilson puts its legendary Pro Staff formula into a slightly more user-friendly head size. Compared to the Pro Staff 97, it features a more forgiving response along with a lower swingweight for easier handling. In addition to being a good option for intermediates, this 11.7 ounce stick packs enough mass and stability for advanced ball strikers. Technologies include Paradigm Bending, a layup technology that optimizes the flex between hoop and shaft to deliver that classic Pro Staff feel. This racquet also has FORTYFIVE technology, which strategically aligns the graphite fibers at a 45 degree angle to increase lateral bending through impact. The payoff is increased dwell time and pocketing for greater command over the ball.  Additional features include String Mapping, which combines denser spacing in the center for control with wider spacing at the margins for greater off-center comfort. Ultimately, by putting classic Pro Staff precision into a slightly larger head size, this new addition to Wilson's most storied racquet family checks all the right boxes. Intermediate and advanced players looking for a speedy player's racquet with controllable power and great feel will love this one.

Great for Beginners?I'm new to tennis in my mid 30s. I've played basketball competitively for literal decades and was starting to become bored. I didn't know where to start my journey, but many of my friends who play all noted that Tennis Warehouse had a racquet rental program. I'm a tall athletic guy (6'6", 220lbs) and knew I didn't need help generating power. I wanted control, and consistency. I tried a few of Yonex and Babolat brand racquets that are marketed as 'control' racquets but I found the most comfort and consistency with the Wilson Pro Staff X. I can't say to why it's a great racquet in technical specifications that seasoned players would know, but I can say that it was the perfect racquet for what I was looking for. It has a great feel from the ball hitting strings (Lux Big Banger) into the racquet frame and finally through the grip into my hand. It feels really stable as a beginner learning to hold the racquet properly while receiving higher speed fed balls. The racquet size feels right too at 100 square inches. This review is likely not helpful for tennis vets, but I simply wanted to write this because as a beginner, the racquet world seems enormous and daunting. I'm happy to have purchased this as my first racquet and I will plan on using the Pro Staff line throughout the rest of my tennis journey. I hope that Wilson will continue to make this newer 'X' model into the future. I'm obsessed with this sport now and I give credit, in part, to my love of this racquet.

Pro Staff X v14Love this racquet. Moved up from the PS v13. Appreciate the slightly larger sweet spot and more plow through. Stiff but not a board. 4.5 player.

Great upgrade to my gameThe X V14 has improved every facet of my game. The greater plow through compared to my Blade 98 allows me to hit deeper, more solid shots on a more consistent basis. Volleys are more solid, even the higher backhand ones that can be difficult to get power on. I am rocketing more return of serves, and power on my serves is so easy now. I am now playing a more relaxed game knowing that the X is giving me the speed and power that was missing with my Blade. My confidence and enjoyment is so much better now. As a 4.0 player I highly recommend this racquet.

Nice stickWhen asked I call this the un-PRO staff. Easy power. Nice plow, easy spin. Great feel. Love it on serves.

Prostaff XI'm a 3.5-4.0 player. I'm coming from a Gravity Pro. The Gravity was the first racquet I truly felt comfortable with. However, it's not the fastest racquet and I wish it had a tad more power. Enter the Pro Staff X. Its control isn't as precise as the Gravity but it's more stable even at a much lower strung weight. It offers more power than the Gravity Pro. The spin isn't anything special but that also makes it more predictable. Flat shots feel fantastic. It feels great at the net and on approach shots. The increased maneuverability over the Gravity Pro combined with its other attributes make it a real weapon.

Love ItI was playing the Six.One 100 so this racquet is not a big change. More head light and slightly more stable. Wilson is knocking it out of the park lately

Excellent UpgradeI have been playing with the Pro Staff line for quite a while. Used the RF97 with great success. Enjoyed the weight on a good forehand and backhand. I eventually moved to the larger head Pro Staff X v14. I was concerned about it being lighter. After playing with it for the last three months, it became a really enjoyable frame. It still has all the great qualities of a Pro Staff, but it's more forgiving. Good shot control and maneuverability are the main attributes. I’m using a hybrid of Luxilon 4G 16L in the mains and Wilson NXT Power 17 gauge in the crosses at 50/55 tension. If you are using the smaller headed Pro Staffs, you should definitely give this frame try.

Better than the ClashI bought one about three weeks ago. As a 4.0 player I found it to be way better than my Clash. When you hit the generous sweet spot the ball stays on the racquet or pockets in the racquet. It feels great! My returns as a 65 year old with traditional grips are also much more solid. Get one and enjoy it.

Solid feel, but quite heavyI'm somewhat new to tennis and play at around a 3.5 level. I had seen some improvement in my game and decided to upgrade my racquet to the Pro Staff. The racquet has great feel and really provides a lot of power and accuracy. However, I just feel like it's a bit too heavy for me. I'm 41 years old and in decent shape, and I play a couple of times per week for about one-two hours in duration. I felt like after an hour my arm was noticeably sore and the racquet became harder and harder to swing. These days I find myself gravitating back towards my old Babolat, which is lighter with a softer feel. If you can swing a heavier racquet, this thing definitely rips the ball and has gorgeous feel.

Modern Pro StaffThis is a great Pro Staff for the modern game. I played high school tennis 20 years ago with Pro Staff 6.0 95 (probably a 4.0-4.5 at the time). I played casually throughout college and my 20’s. I thought I could be like Fed and played with a couple Pro Staff Tour 90s. I have gotten back into it in the last few months, and I had to accept the fact that my game was not at the point to plat with the Tour 90’s consistently, as much as I loved the feel when I was hitting the sweet spot. I set my ego aside and demo’ed a lot of racquets: PS v13 97, Tecnifibre TF40, Dunlop CX 200 Tour, Head Gravity Pro, Yonex Ezones, and Yonex VCores…and finally the Pro Staff X v14. To my surprise, I hit the best with the X. It had a familiar Pro Staff feel for my now “old school game” with my long, flat strokes. But I can also adjust when I want and dial up more topspin as needed. The 315g unstrung weight is heavy by modern standards but it gives me stability and a lot of weight behind my serve. Racquets are totally personal, but give this one a shot if you have historically loved the Pro Staffs but may not be able to wield the weight of the RF.
