Overview

Introducing Volkl V-Square! With its surgical precision, this co-polyester monofilament will give you the confidence to attack the ball with your most powerful strokes. Offering a slightly softer feel than Volkl Cyclone, this is a great option for the player who wants a more comfortable co-poly. It's also a spin monster thanks to its four sharp edges and slippery surface (think bite & snap back). Ultimately, this is an obvious choice for the player who wants a durable co-poly that offers mindless targeting on full cuts. The great feel is a nice bonus and the spin-potential is off the charts.

Currently ranks #1 for bite/grip in our TWU string lab.

Great pocketing, control, and a spin monsterI've just started to use this string which is giving me very good pocketing and control on fast swings, which is exactly what I was searching for. If you have modern style grips or swings and you always hit your shots with topspin, then this string is for you. Due to very sharp edges the spin potential is insane. Even though, I don't recommend this string to very flat hitters as I think they will struggle to keep the fast balls in the court, due to its liveliness response. The best control and power balance is achieved while swinging with confidence using modern tennis style shots including the "Next Gen" style. I cannot say too much about the life and the tension loss as I used them in two different racquets just about five times, but so far so good.

Great SpinThis is an excellent string for spin production. Does really grab the ball. Not stressful on the arm as can be the case with poly strings.

V-SquareLove this string at 17 gauge. Although it doesn't last more than 10-12 hours, the control and spin potential allow me to hit out on all shots. I use a Pure Aero racquet strung at 56 lbs. I am going to try the 16 gauge to see if this will last a little longer. I string my own racquets and have tried many types of string.

Here for a good time, not a long timeStrung this up in my Pure Strike 18x20 at 53 lbs as part of a string safari I've been on lately. String took a little while to break in because it felt plasticky and sticky at first. After that, it felt amazing…for a little while. Groundstrokes had heavy topspin where you could literally see the strings tearing fuzz off the ball. After 4-5 hours of hitting, the string started to lose that feeling and making my elbow sore. Even at $11/pack, you can do better for your money.

Comments: Bagged out with no snapback remaining after just eight hours of play. I will never buy again. Durability and tension maintenance is well below any other polyesters I've ever used. Never had to cut out a string before 15 hours of play. Used in a 2021 VCORE 98 at 48 pounds.

Comments: I have used most of the Volkl polyester strings and V-Square has the best spin potential, but has the worst tension maintenance. It also has a similar plastic feel as Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable which means it doesn't feel near as good as Volkl V-Star. If you are looking for a polyester with high spin potential, good feel, and decent tension maintenance I recommend Prince Vortex Triad 17 and Diadem Solstice Power 16L.

Comments: I used this in my Head Gravity MP at 54 pounds. I normally use RPM Blast 17 at 54 pounds and decided to give this a try. It had great spin and balls jumped a little bit more than with the RPM Blast. It had really good kick on serves and when blasting balls from the baseline. The problem was that it only lasted about 6-7 hours until it broke, RPM Blast gives me three times that until it breaks and it had a very plastic feel to it where I had lots of trouble finding the control and placement on touch shots and volleys. I play mostly doubles, so this was an issue for me. It is probably better for singles or staying at the baseline. I am sticking with RPM Blast for now.

Comments: I tried this string in my Volkl V-Sense 1 MP at 36 pounds. It felt okay, nothing really out of the ordinary for me. I had a second racquet strung with Ytex Hex-X and it felt like a better fit at the same tension.

Comments: This V-Square is awesome. The big difference to me is the spin, my go-to string is Tecnifibre Black Code 4S 17 which also provides excellent spin as well. This V-Square is right in between Cyclone and Cyclone Tour in terms of feel, slightly softer than Cyclone. Overall I would recommend this string to any intermediate to advanced NTRP level player.
