Overview

This ultra thin version of Cyclone is built for spin. As a firm co-polymer monofilament this string is ideal for intermediate and advanced players with long, fast strokes. It has a gear shape in order to increase bite. One of the better options available for the player who wants a durable spin monster in a thinner gauge.

  • Gauge: 18L/1.15mm
  • Length: 660ft/200m
  • Construction:Co-polymer polyester monofilament

Great in a tighter string pattern!I string this on my ProKennex Classic 5 Pro, which is a 16 x 20 string pattern. Great control, while stringing it in the mid or even low 40's provides plenty of power and spin!

Rec 4.0String at 50 pounds on Ezone 2020 racuqet- very nice spin - a little low on the power side. Will try to lower the tension to 48 pounds next time.

Great power and spinI use a Yonex 97HD Vcore Pro. This racquet is soft and great for my tennis elbow, however not the best for my hitting style. I’m a baseline slugger with tons of top spin. I originally tried the 19g to open up the string bed a bit for more spin and it worked, however I lost some control. I then went up to the 18L and strung at 53l bs and it is working beautifully. I am getting a ton of spin and zero arm pain. If compared to my previous setup, a 98 Vcore (2021) with 17g Cyclone, which I would rate 10 out of 10 for spin. I would say my current setup is an 8 out of 10 for spin, but with more control, a better serve, and zero arm pain. Hope that helps.

Definitely one of my favorite poly's!After years of stringing, this is one of my favorites to play with and my trusted go to string when play testing other string sensitive rackets. Love the spin this can generate! Also hard to beat the cost.

Comments: Well, I actually made a mistake on my order and thought I had checked the regular Black 18 gauge Cyclone. I have used Cyclone 18 black before in other racquets and I like the spin and control the string puts out. It tends to put out what you put in with no arm pain. The 18L was a different animal or at least as I tested in a new racquet, the Prince Textreme Warrior 100. I strung it at 52 lbs and that was likely too low. I got way too much pop which was difficult to control and I had to alter my swing to keep the balls in the court. I would say the jury is still out on this string and will try them out at 55-57 lbs on my other set.
