Overview

Solinco Tour Bite Soft lives up to its name. This very impressive control string is definitely on the softer side of the polyester spectrum. Given the overall playability, we think this gentler version of Tour Bite works well not only for advanced players but also big swinging intermediates. Like the original version, Tour Bite Soft is shaped for massive grip on the ball. The result is huge spin potential. Our playtesters reported a more generous power level as compared to the original Tour Bite. Ultimately, though, a full swing is required to get the most out of this string. Big hitters looking to get exceptional spin and precision without a lot of shock are encouraged to take this one out for a spin.

Best Soft Poly (So Far)Strung at 50lbs in a Yonex Vcore Pro 97D. The spin, feel, and power are excellent. Despite the initial tension drop, Tour Bite Soft 1.30mm lasted me about five months and played very predictably. For what it's worth I'm a 4.0 all court player.

Solinco TB SoftOne of my favorites. Prior to TB Soft, I mostly used RPM Blast in a full bed strung at 52lbs. I was looking for a string that was a bit softer and created a bit more power. I tried many polys but none deliver for me like TB soft. I can string 48-52lbs and get all the things I love about it - spin, control, power and feel. Normally, with more power came less control with less ability to swing with full confidence. TB Soft is the perfect blend for me. Hybrids just don't perform as well for me, so finding a more powerful and softer poly with just as much control was huge.

Comments: I am a male, 6'2 and 200 pounds. I recently switched to all polyesters and started with the Solinco Tour Bite 17 at 54 pounds for the winter months. I just switched to the 16 gauge for the summer strung at 56 pounds, medium speed, and a 10% stretch on the Head Speed MP. The string measured 54.7 pounds immediately after stringing. This is definitely a grippy string, which may cause some shots in the net at first. Once you get used to the new effect of the string, you'll really like it. I can swing huge without fear of sending the ball into the back fence. Kick, slice, and flat serves are massive. I can punch volleys and be soft as butter. My only complaint is the tension maintenance. After only an hour and a half of hitting, the string measured 50.4 pounds. After an additional four and a half hours of play over 2 days, it measured 49.2 pounds. I may try and pre-stretch the string on my machine a little higher the next string job to see if this helps with tension maintenance, but overall I'm still really happy with this string. It's affordable and readily available. I am a 3.5 USTA player and 5.0 UTR.

Comments: A very nice control-oriented string for big hitters. I have never been a big believer in textured strings being spin generators since your stroke technique will dictate that first and foremost. But Solinco TB Soft displays much better feel than Lux ALU Power -- I think it compares favorably to Kirschbaum Max Power (one of my personal favorites) with slightly better long-term tension maintenance. I currently use it in a 16x19 Tecnifibre T-Fight Dynacore 315 at 55 lbs and it plays great in that control-oriented frame.

Comments: Definitely designed for advanced players who have control of their shots (4.5+). Not only does the string offer tremendous power, but it also affords great spin potential. Like most co-polys, you aren't offered much feel, but that's why it works best for advanced players who already swing free with relative precision. This string is also budget friendly since you will likely have to cut it out before it breaks. As a 5.0 college coach, it's my string of choice and the string of choice for all of my top athletes (4.5-6.0). After trying just 1 racquet of this string, I have never had an athlete who has switched back to Big Banger or RPM.

Comments: As it goes, strings are personal to your style of play. I like Vokle Cyclone, but I cannot serve with it. My serve goes into the net or long. It is awesome for the groundstrokes and volleys. I like these strings because they don't have that springy feel. They feel crisp. The power is good. I can hit spin and flat shots. Spin and slice serve are great. Having problems with serving flat -- it always goes long. Volleys and slice shots are great. The diamond has much more power. The directional control is awesome. Strung at 52 lbs on a Wilson Six-One 95 16x18 2012 model.

Comments: String has good spin but a lot more power than expected. Can't keep the ball in the court. Will cut these out and put in ALU soft or RPM in. Feels like a trampoline in my hand.

Comments: This is one of the best string out there. I have strung it in a poly poly hybrid (S.T.B.S with MSV Focus Hex 1.23) -- for the first few hours you could basically rip ball with heavy spin at total comfort. After a few days of hitting tension drop significantly and string is less lively. Spin potential also drop but thankfully my stiffer msv focus hex stabilise the total tension of the string and still making it enjoyable gameplay. Compared to ALU Power this string is much better and is at least 100x softer in feel, 10x the tension stability, 30x more spin capability. The string is still playable after a month compare to ALU Power which becomes a stiff trampoline after 2 weeks. Strung at 61/59 lbs with MSV Focus Hex mains and Solinco Tour Bite Soft in an RF97.

Comments: Excellent power, control and spin. This string is much better than Luxilon ALU Power strings.

Comments: If you have elbow issues with other spin strings, this is your fix. This string is very soft and still has the bite and pocketing you want. The only thing I noticed is that the edges do wear down faster than stiffer strings. Can't complain though as it is a softer string with good bite that lasts fairly long. This string will lose some tension unless you pre-stretch it. No more elbow issues for me. Pair it with the Technifibre synthetic gut 16 black, and you will be in paradise.

Comments: Awesome string, tons of spin!
From:Justin, 6/13

Comments: Wow! Very powerful string on the serve and in general. I had to string my racquet 4 lbs tighter than normal at 57 lbs. Very good spin as well and it is similar to Alu power but this one is cheaper and has more pop. Best string on the market so far! Get it!
