Overview

Introducing the heaviest member of the Boom family! Named the Boom Pro, this racquet combines surgical targeting with easy power and great feel. It also gives you a tad more stability and plow-through than the Boom MP but remains fast enough for the aggressive all-court player. Technologies include a Morph Beam, which combines an elongated box beam shaft with a more powerful construction in the head. The Boom Pro also packs a wider more responsive contact zone in the upper hoop. The result is not only a more expansive sweetspot, but also a more generous spin-window at the racquet's maximum leverage point (think heavy ball). In addition to Graphene 360+ (which helps with power and stability), this racquet includes a uniquely flexible Auxetic construction in the yoke, a feature that optimizes ball feedback according to impact location. On the court the Boom Pro not only delivers the quick handling, easy power and spin-friendly precision of our favorite modern player's racquets, it also feels great at impact, and it does a good job absorbing and redirecting higher levels of pace. The fact that it plays great right out of the box is a nice bonus.

Full of powerThis is the best racquet that I have ever used. It is full of power and speed. I had to do some adjustments to my serve, but I know that once I get used to this racquet, it will be a force to reckon with.

Something Magic About ItGreat control, very forgiving. Everyone says it's very powerful, but I feel that it is less powerful than the Pure Aero. Love the sound it makes and the feel of the ball. Switching from the Pure Aero 100 to this one, I feel that this one has a magic way in which you hit a shot and although you feel its going to go long, in some magic way the ball makes its way in. I really love playing with it and the price is a steal right now.

Beginner to IntermediateI spent the last five to ten years as a weekend warrior relying mostly on 100-104 square inch racquets for the extra buffer that they provided. My go-to was the Wilson Clash 100. But when I started working on improving my game I thought it also might be time to move into a racquet with a little more control, power, and spin. The Boom Pro is the best of both worlds. It's arm-friendly, but powerful. It's the heaviest in the Boom line, but the lightest compared with other Head Pro racquets. I was worried about being able to hit the sweet spot with a 98 square inch, but it turned out not to be a problem at all. It performs really well with multifilament string for anyone who might have tennis elbow issues like me. Now that the 2024 Boom Pro has been released, Tennis Warehouse seems to have the best price out there. That factor made it easier for me to invest in an entry level pro racquet tha'ts a bit smaller and heavier than what I'm used to. Overall, this is an excellent deal for a racquet of such high caliber and it's made my gameplay feel much more interesting.

Boom ProHaven’t bought a new racquet in more than a decade so I jumped on the deal when the HEAD Boom Pro went on sale for $90.30 USD ($129.00 USD with additional 30% off). Never played with the Boom Pro previously but was using an old HEAD YouTek Speed. Nice plush feel with easy power and large sweet spot. The 11.6oz (329g) doesn’t feel heavy. Asked my stringer to put in a hybrid setup (PolyTour Pro crosses, RPM Blast mains). Even with the brutal USD-CAD exchange rate, it’s still a fantastic deal. You won’t find a better price.

It’s goodThe Boom MP was too light for me but the Pro is a different beast. It’s easier to use than the Speed Pro and very forgiving for a 98. My game lives and dies by a windshield wiper topspin forehand and the design of this frame works for me because it is wide. Good feel, very comfortable, and more pop that a Gravity. No arm or elbow issues which is something that plagued me for years with previous Head frames. Only gripe that makes this four stars instead of five is that variance from frame to frame. It’s a no brainer to buy more than one frame at this price, but they will feel different unless you get TW to match 'em.

Well balancedMy journey for finding a balanced racquet for controlled power is over. I’ve played all sorts of racquets through main brands. I would say that it is between the Yonex Vcore and the Wilson Blade/Pro Staff for control. Even though it is a Pro, it’s not that heavy. The upper part copied the Yonex shape that is more forgiving. I can’t tell what the Auxetic does. The shape of the bottom handle gives more stability.

Easy power, easy spin, well balancedI have been playing with the Boom MP since it was released. I had to add eight grams to the racquet to make it feel more balanced, and take away what I describe as the “twisties.” I originally planned to order another MP when they went on sale, but demoed the Pro on recommendation from the racquet specialist. I demoed with multi and the TW poly strings. The combo of the Boom Pro and TW poly strings is perfection, and I’m a die hard Triax fan.

SolidI have only hit once with this racquet but good feel and good mobility. Plays similarly to a few 98" racquets I’ve hit with. I know it’s been limited play time but great deal when I got it and enjoyable so far.

Great frame, "old" control but "new" spinI have played with the Wilson 95 N-Code, the Head Prestige Pro, and the Wilson BLX (all 16x19) but then took ten years off due to ankle issues. Upon returning I was looking for a racquet combining their playing characteristics with high maneuverability as I have a one-handed backhand. I played with the Clash Pro to transition through arm/shoulder issues. The Boom Pro is outstanding in feel and control while still allowing great spin. My game rocketed back. Bought a second frame and love the pocketing with Head Lynx Touch at 52 lbs.

Pleasantly surprisedThis feels like a more maneuverable & spin-friendly Pro Staff v13, or a more comfortable & stable Extreme Tour. Fits those who hit with lots of spin than a flat hitter. Kick serves are amazing. I play mostly doubles and put-away volleys come easy and the responsive yet plush feel helps with touch volleys. One-handed backhand was mediocre for me in stock form, but that was fixed with a bit of lead at 12.

Great all around racquetThis racquet looks great, has nice weight to it, and does everything well. However, it may be difficult for a beginner or relatively new player to figure out. I use a hybrid string setup (Babolat rpm blast 17 in the crosses, Babolat vs touch 16 in the mains at 55lbs) it hits gloriously.

BOOM ProI demo'ed many racquets and used this solo and against a friend; this one seems a bit better than the Extreme MP and more consistent than the recent, but slightly old Radical; I agree with the Musetti's reviewer above; I'd definitely make the cosmetics better, maybe darker turquoise; leave teal to the Marlins, Sharks, & Rays.

Control and speedAn option among heavier control racquets, however, with good spin and speed in the hit.

Color Blind BoomThis is a good stick, (I'm currently demoing it). It's stiffness takes out the little instability that I found in the Speed MP. It plays like a 27.25" racquet with a 99" Head due to the elongated shape at the top of the racquet, that effectively moves the sweetspot further up the racquet face. Because of the elongated head, the response outside of the sweet-spot can be a bit erratic. The color scheme is awful. It looks like a toy racquet. I'd suggest that Head tones down the teal by adding some gray into the mix to darken the contrast or go bolder and use a neon green color. Otherwise, this is a very good stick and I'm having a difficult time choosing between the Boom and the Speed MP.

Head Boom ProI was looking for something more arm friendly to replace my Head Radical Touch Pro racquet. This one pretty much fits the bill. The auxetic construction adds noticeable flex, and is easier on the arm than the Radical Touch. The racquet offers ample power, and decent control (although I wouldn't call this a racquet with top notch control). It is head light, so I added some tungsten tape at 10 and 2 to add stability / power against heavy hitters. The racquet is comfortable to use even with a full poly setup. If you're looking for a good blend of comfort, spin, power and control, I'd recommend this one!

User FriendlyI am an older player and need to transition away from my Yonex Duel G 330s - great stick, but a 340ish SW is hard for a middle aged player who's not getting any faster. The Boom Pro is a big change, but I found effortless power (but not too much) and easy defense, especially on the backhand wing. Serving was a breeze vs. my old Duel Gs, especially kickers. I think a little bit of lead and a leather grip will get me there, and in a few years I could remove both and still play it. I'm down to the Boom Pro and Pure Strike 18x20 - will be a hard call.

Musetti's racquetThis racquet is solid; it helped my consistency on my bh wing, but did not add anything to my serve. It seems a little lighter than my old Prestige MP and the specs say 0.1 of an oz. lighter. It does have a slightly hollow feel as someone else wrote, but solid enough, and I did not use a vibe dampener as I always use. The big negative on this racquet is the price- too high! I would change the cosmetics slightly to give Coco a unique scheme and Musetti a unique scheme too.

Here comes the BoomHere comes the Boom? Well somewhat, but not a magic wand that leaves your opponent gasping in awe, but a very solid racquet. Well balanced, with enough heft to handle fast pace. Performs well in every area, though not really a full-on player's racquet. It would best be utilized by 4.0 players and up. I demoed it strung with multifilament and was very forgiving, but not unduly muted. Poly might be a bit rough, but I never use it. Head has produced one of the best new offerings on the market. If you are a serious player, it is certainly worth a look. Cocoa Gauff used it to reach the final of the recent French Open.

Amazing racquet! After a thorough playtest I made the switch to this racquet. The weight paired with the head shape resulted in deeper shots from the baseline (easy power) while providing a very stable and comfortable feel. It moves great through the air and this allows me to keep up with big hitters and actually punch back with some "boom" of my own. I would strongly recommend it to players which typically prefer control over power because this stick will provide a little bit of power. I switched from the Prestige Pro.

Head Boon ProSo I've been on a 7-year hiatus from tennis. The last racquet I played with was from High School (2010-14) which was a 2006 Dunlop M-FIL 200 plus. I've always wanted a head racket when I was in high school but they were too expensive for my budget (given I was a fan of Andy Murray, and Radicals were around $160-180 back in 2012-14). I picked back up because I'm a high school teacher and was offered to be an assistant coach for their boy's tennis team. Now that my budget has increased drastically from my high school years, I immediately started searching for the best new racquet to play. On top of the color-catching teal and black, I heard great things about the new Head Boom Pro racquet. Coming from my dinosaur Dunlop racquet where all my shots had to be precise, or I'd suffer from tennis elbow. The new Head Boom Pro felt like walking on clouds (in a racquet perspective) this racquet is so user-friendly. I also bought Head Lynx Touch (which I do not recommend btw) strings. Unfortunately, those strings didn't even last three weeks, maybe because I was so used to my dinosaur racquet. Come to find out I am a heavy hitter, after an hour of serving, I noticed small little slits in the strings in the sweet spot, and after two weeks those slits turned into busted plastic hanging on to dear life on the bed of the racket. Anyway back to the racquet, I immediately noticed just how comfortable this racquet was just by serving. I was so used to getting a slight tennis elbow in high school when I would hit hard serves; with the Boom Pro, it was almost effortless. Again, coming from a dinosaur racquet like my Dunlop this new Boom Pro would feel like prime Larry Bird hooping in pair of LeBron's space jams Nikes. I didn't need every shot to be precise, or constantly think about my racquet placement for slicing, overheads, or volleys. I truly believe anyone new to tennis could pick this racquet up and enjoy learning the game. It's not the best in terms of control, but it's effortless and has the potential for so much power in your shots. I feel like it best supports players who like to hit flat, which I will do occasionally when I get lazy or worn down after a couple of hours of play. I recently put Solinco Confidential in the racquet after I got tired of seeing the busted Lynx Touch strings. Now the racquet plays as if it were taken out of my dreams, I'm able to get great spin and better control, with the power and ease of use it has on the arm. It's a match made in heaven for me, it made this 26-year-old feel like I was in high school all over again.

Terrible Name / Great RacquetI was demoing racquets this spring, and thought I'd try this racquet just for fun, thinking it was going to be a stiff power racquet based on the name. It is definitely not. It has a plush feel and offers great control, with decent pop and easy spin. It is really good at just about everything, but not truly great in any category, so it may not appeal to specialists. The Boom Pro is amazingly forgiving, and not nearly as demanding as the racquets I normally play with, which should appeal to a broad group of players. Head should rename this racket the Easy Button.

The Best Racquet from HEAD! I compare this Head Boom Pro to my old Yonex EZONE DR 98 because it has great feel and power as well! I would recommend any NTRP 5.0 player out there to give this one a shot!

Previous Feedback

Comments: The best racquet from Head! I compare the Head Boom Pro to the EZONE DR 98 because of the amazing feel and also the power that it has. I could get excellent top spin with the my shots, and it was awesome on serves. I felt like I could get enough pace and speed. Overall an awesome frame from Head- Boom Boom!

Comments: Great racquet. Fits between the softness of Galaxy and crispness of Speed. Good power with control enables you to swing out without holding back. Actually you have to swing out, the racquet is very muted and neutral to the point of not knowing whats happening on lesser swings. A great stick, not enough to get me off my Prince Tours, but definitely worth looking into for an all court player.

Comments: Epic power for the racquet specifications.
