This new addition to Wilson's most legendary franchise provides a slightly more forgiving hitting experience to intermediate and advanced players

Introducing the Pro Staff X v14! With this racquet, Wilson puts its legendary Pro Staff formula into a slightly more user-friendly head size. Compared to the Pro Staff 97, it features a more forgiving response along with a lower swingweight for easier handling. In addition to being a good option for intermediates, this 11.7 ounce stick packs enough mass and stability for advanced ball strikers. Technologies include Paradigm Bending, a layup technology that optimizes the flex between hoop and shaft to deliver that classic Pro Staff feel. This racquet also has FORTYFIVE technology, which strategically aligns the graphite fibers at a 45 degree angle to increase lateral bending through impact. The payoff is increased dwell time and pocketing for greater command over the ball.  Additional features include String Mapping, which combines denser spacing in the center for control with wider spacing at the margins for greater off-center comfort. Ultimately, by putting classic Pro Staff precision into a slightly larger head size, this new addition to Wilson's most storied racquet family checks all the right boxes. Intermediate and advanced players looking for a speedy player's racquet with controllable power and great feel will love this one.

Excellent UpgradeI have been playing with the Pro Staff line for quite a while. Used the RF97 with great success. Enjoyed the weight on a good forehand and backhand. I eventually moved to the larger head Pro Staff X v14. I was concerned about it being lighter. After playing with it for the last three months, it became a really enjoyable frame. It still has all the great qualities of a Pro Staff, but it's more forgiving. Good shot control and maneuverability are the main attributes. I'm using a hybrid of Luxilon 4G 16L in the mains and Wilson NXT Power 17 gauge in the crosses at 50/55 tension. If you are using the smaller headed Pro Staffs, you should definitely give this frame try.

Better than the ClashI bought one about three weeks ago. As a 4.0 player I found it to be way better than my Clash. When you hit the generous sweet spot the ball stays on the racquet or pockets in the racquet. It feels great! My returns as a 65 year old with traditional grips are also much more solid. Get one and enjoy it.

Solid feel, but quite heavyI'm somewhat new to tennis and play at around a 3.5 level. I had seen some improvement in my game and decided to upgrade my racquet to the Pro Staff. The racquet has great feel and really provides a lot of power and accuracy. However, I just feel like it's a bit too heavy for me. I'm 41 years old and in decent shape, and I play a couple of times per week for about one-two hours in duration. I felt like after an hour my arm was noticeably sore and the racquet became harder and harder to swing. These days I find myself gravitating back towards my old Babolat, which is lighter with a softer feel. If you can swing a heavier racquet, this thing definitely rips the ball and has gorgeous feel.

Modern Pro StaffThis is a great Pro Staff for the modern game. I played high school tennis 20 years ago with Pro Staff 6.0 95 (probably a 4.0-4.5 at the time). I played casually throughout college and my 20’s. I thought I could be like Fed and played with a couple Pro Staff Tour 90s. I have gotten back into it in the last few months, and I had to accept the fact that my game was not at the point to plat with the Tour 90’s consistently, as much as I loved the feel when I was hitting the sweet spot. I set my ego aside and demo’ed a lot of racquets: PS v13 97, Tecnifibre TF40, Dunlop CX 200 Tour, Head Gravity Pro, Yonex Ezones, and Yonex VCores…and finally the Pro Staff X v14. To my surprise, I hit the best with the X. It had a familiar Pro Staff feel for my now “old school game” with my long, flat strokes. But I can also adjust when I want and dial up more topspin as needed. The 315g unstrung weight is heavy by modern standards but it gives me stability and a lot of weight behind my serve. Racquets are totally personal, but give this one a shot if you have historically loved the Pro Staffs but may not be able to wield the weight of the RF.

Bigger & BetterLongtime Pro Staff user. PSOG 85 & 95, Classic 95, Nano 90, BLX 6.1, PS97. I had tried the Blade v8, and liked the feel and control, but it didn't have a high enough launch angle for my liking. I was looking for a cross between the PS 97 and the Blade 98. Great feel and control with a tad more power. The X hits the mark. Solid, stable, controlled, with a little pop. This new X is close to the old feeling of the 6.0 95. However, the new X has more free power and better control due to the stiffer upper hoop lacking in the original. Yes, it takes some getting used to, but so worth it! The first couple of hits were juuuuuuuuuust a bit long. But, after a couple of hours of hitting, you will adjust. Able to drive, slice, rip, or loop shots at will. The backhand slice is fantastic. Serving with the X is a weapon. Spin, slice, or flat; the X can hit them all. I have added weight to 12 to get the tip to come through better. Worth a try if you're looking for a Blade or Pro Staff with 10-20% more power.

Pro Staff with modern feelBeen using this racquet for 3 weeks interchangeably with the PS 97 v13. PSX can generate more pace and topspin on groundstrokes than the 97, felt solid especially on my backhand (2-handed). The only downside is lack of crispness feel when volleying. While precision is there, PS 97 v13 definitely had more edge to it. Overall a good update. Strung with Solinco Confidential 17 on 52 lbs.

A little disappointedI've played with Pro Staff for decades. I like the V13 97 and demoed the V14 97 and the X. People told me that since I'm older now the X might be the perfect racquet for me. I found the tradeoff was not good. If there was more power I didn't see it versus the 97. And the larger head makes it a little harder to control the ball. So I had less control and no real improvement or power. If the sweetspot is bigger I certainly did not feel it. I hit the 97 much more effectively. Perhaps it's because I'm used to it but if Wilson thought the X would appeal to older 97 users like me they may be disappointed too.
