Overview

Please note: Kirschbaum has changed the name to Pro Line Rough. Same string, different name

With Pro Line Rough Kirschbaum adds some texture to the surface of one of their most popular co- polys. Like the standard Pro Line II, this string's low-powered response allows big hitters to take huge cuts at the ball without fear of overhitting. This not only enables the player to swing faster in the service of pace and spin, but it also makes it easier to close out points with ambitious shots. Although this is a firm string, our playtesters loved the feel and reported zero problems with discomfort. Big swinging intermediate and advanced players looking for control and durability should give this string a serious look.

Pre-stretched for added tension maintenance.

  • Gauge: 18/1.20mm

Comments: I am a nationally ranked junior in the 16s. I have been testing polys for a few months nee trying to find the right one fore my game. So far PL2 rough 18g is the best one I have found so far. In the first few hours of hitting, the string feels very dead and stiff, but soon after it livens up and plays drastically different. The playability lasts for several weeks for me before it breaks. If you are looking for a great, spinny, comfortable poly, look no further. I highly suggest that everyone give this string a try. The break in period is worth the results. I play with a yonex EZONE DR 98 strung at 51 lbs.

Comments: Excellent string. Soft on the arm. Very little wear after months of use. Definitely adds some extra spin. Not too powerful with decent control. Highly recommend people try it.

Comments: I am a 4.0 I am a hard hitter but I utilize various spin shots. This string does add spin to the Pro Line II sting. Additionally the 18 gauge is as durable as Pro Line II. I really like this string. It can give you that extra edge to win matches.

Comments: I used these in my Yonex Vcore Tour 89. I am a 5.5 player. My serve and ground game when compared to the stroke styles of most top 100 players worldwide are extremely similar. I strung a full bed of Kirschbaum Pro Line II Rough 18 into my Yonex with the mains at 29 lbs and the crosses at 26 lbs. It performed better than any string I have ever used. It took about 2 hours before the feel started to drastically improve, but other than that, the tension lasted for excessively long periods of time. When compared with the Polyfiber Cobra 17 string, the spin potential was incredibly similar to this Cobra string, however the Cobra's ability to maintain placement on sensitive aiming shots decreased over time, where as the Kirshbaum Pro Line II Rough 18 did not. Whenever this really talented player would hit a well placed defensive shot at me, my instincts immediately told me to put as much spin as i possibly could in return, and by brushing up as much as i could, I was amazed by something that I have never been able to do in my life, I made one of my forehands kick up to a height of 9 feet after I hit a winner in which bounced 1 inch inside the baseline. The majority of my shots against this very conditioned player were on dropping in about 1 to 1 and a half feet inside the baseline wherever I directed my aiming. This string is meant for the ATP 1000 Circuit, however I have yet to combine it with Natural Gut, so I don't have a clue about how it would do. In a full bed, the string performed as though I was the 2009 version of Roger Federer. Crisp, clean shots after the first 2 hours. The comfort was as plush as i have ever felt in any string. Much more comfortable than the Luxilon Ace 18 gauge strung at similar tensions. This string is heaven sent and I am so very thankful to those at Kirschbaum for answering my prayers that I've been making for several years now. My game has increased 4 fold in only 2 months because of this amazing string. I regret cutting them out in order to try out other strings. They were my pride and joy and now i have to wait to buy some more. Thanks again Kirschbaum. You have my warmest regards and eternal respect for what you have manifested into existence.

Comments: I ordered 3 sets of this string. 2 sets broke within a week hitting with it. One broke while stringing (just snapped while tensioning). I get that 1.20 is thin, but these were not durable whatsoever.
