Babolat Woofer
Woofer

*Woofer Technology from Babolat

THE FIRST DYNAMIC SYSTEM WHICH MAKES THE FRAME AND THE STRINGS INTERACT WHEN STRIKING THE BALL

A tennis racket is a frame with strings. The frame is basically static and holds the driving force of the racquet - the strings - in place. The strings are attached to both sides of the frame. Only some strings are active when struck by the ball. This means that racquets do not deliver their full potential. Babolat set out to imagine a racquet optimizing the frame and the strings - to invent a frame which permits all the strings to work together to their full potential when striking the ball.

PULLEY FUNCTION

  • The WOOFER eliminates string lock-up: the strings are free to move.
  • The whole surface area reacts on impact: with the WOOFER, more strings work together when striking the ball. The strings are interactive. This increases sweetspot size, improving forgiveness during off-center shots and absorbing much of the shock produced during ball impact.

PISTON FUNCTION

  • Increase in the Trampoline Effect: The piston function enables greater surface deformation on impact, delivering 10% extra power and ensuring that the strings retain their energy for a longer time.
  • Shock Absorption: The pistons act like a suspension system to dampen unwanted vibration.
Babolat Aerobeam Technology
Babolat Aerobeam

The world's most aerodynamic racquet. +15% air penetration thanks to the aerobeam technology.
Babolat Cortex
Cortex

Babolat's Cortex shaft vibration dampening system is designed to offer greater comfort during play. Available in two versions, the Cortex system used in the Pure series of racquets reduces harmful racquet vibrations without filtering out the feedback required for feel. The result of filtering unnecessary vibrations results in what Babolat calls a "pure feel." The Cortex system used in other Babolat racquets filters and dampens for maximum comfort.

Babolat Smart Grip
Smart Grip

Babolat's Smart Grip is contoured to fit the shape of your hand. The special shape of the grip places the entire hand in contact with the racquet resulting in more power with less effort, more control with less racquet twisting and more comfort due to the way the grip fits the natural shape of the hand. Smart Grip is the first racquet handle shaped to fit your hand, because your hand is not flat.

Babolat Graphite Tungsten Technology
Graphite Tungsten

Hybrid material, combing braided carbon fibers and tungsten filaments, throughout the entire racquet. Improves racquet performance, based on the concentration of Tungsten fibers at various strategic parts of the frame.

Main Benefit: Control and feel. Value-added aspects of GT technology: A greater concentration of Tungsten in the core of the racquet. 10% additional energy recovery for even more power.

Dunlop Aerogel Technology
Aerogel

Aerogel is the world's lightest solid. It has strength up to 4,000 times its own weight. Aerogel's nanometer-sized molecular network delivers an unmatched strength to weight ratio for enhanced stiffness and power. Aerogel racquets offer incredible power with touch and feel without compromising weight.
Dunlop 4D
4D

4D stands for 4 directional braiding.

It is contructed using four braided fibres of superlight S-glass fiber wrapped in an aluminum alloy sheath.

The fibres are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and-22û orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multi-directions whereas standard carbon sheets are only orientated in one direction. This means that one layer of 4D material has the equivalent properties to four layers of standard carbon layed up at orientations. Consequently 4D material is four times more effective than standard carbon. Furthermore, by using one layer, 4D is also softer and less bulky than 4 layers of carbon.

At 5 and 7 o'clock the multi-directional properties of the 4D braided cloth help stabilize the torsional twist at key points of the racquet.

At 3 and 9 o'clock one layer of 4D braided cloth provides the torsional stability previously only achievable with several layers of carbon fibre. As a result of only one layer being used instead of several this softer material also provides superb touch and feel at ball contact.

Fischer Magnetic Speed
Magnetic Speed

When the ball hits the strings the racquet frame is naturally deformed as both sides move together. In a Magnetic Speed racquet, equally polarized magnets at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions return the frame to its original position faster than conventional frames. The result is more power returned to the ball and greater ball speed off the stringbed.
HEAD Flexpoint

FLEXPOINT
Flexpoint racquets feature two precisely-engineered control holes in the racquet's head. This creates a new point of flex, which cups the ball and improves control without losing power. The patented HEAD Flexpoint technology breaks the rules of traditional racquet design by not making racquets stiffer, but by engineering them to flex in a new and revolutionary way.

With a conventional racquet, the ball strikes the racquet at 90 degrees, but due to the racquet flexing it leaves the racquet at a different angle. A Flexpoint racquet is designed to cup the ball by flexing at the Flexpoints. The cupping effect reduces the angle at which the ball leaves the strings and promotes more accurate hitting. Flexpoint technology increases the dwell time and ball pocketing due to its cupping effect which increases feel and provides a larger sweetspot.

Flexpoints are made up of two complimentary features and are located at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the racquet head. Each Flexpoint features an engineered dimple to create flexibility by reducing the beam width by a maximum of 25%. Each Flexpoint also features a hole in the center of the dimple which reduces sectional stiffness by 50%.

Head LiquidMetal

LiquidMetal®
Developed by the California Institute of Technology (CalTech), LiquidMetal® alloy provides 29% more power than Titanium. Just as its name implies, LiquidMetal® alloy is different from conventional materials because of its liquid (or "amorphous") atomic structure. This means that LiquidMetal® alloy does not deform on impact, resulting in ultimate energy return.

Head places LiquidMetal® at four strategic areas of the racquet's head, integrated in the main layer of the frame's construction. This allows all of the energy from ball impact to be used for a power return - so what a player puts into his or her swing is exactly what they get out. The result is what Head calls Pure Energy. Perfect Power™

Integrated String Dampener (ISD)

Integrated String Dampener (ISD)
Affixed to the grommets at the base of the head, the (ISD) absorbs string vibration. Now even the most powerful racquet is easy on the arm and completely comfortable, no matter what style of play.

Total Sweetspot Construction

Total Sweetspot Construction
Total Sweetspot Construction increases torsional stability in the racquet head and extends the sweetspot throughout the entire racquet head, resulting in ultimate control.

Head Intellifiber
Intelligence Technology

FEATURE:
Intellifiber is a new fiber created from piezoelectric material. Extraordinarily different from conventional materials, this fiber (according to Head) transforms the mechanical energy from ball impact into an electrical response that stiffens the racquet for ultimate power. Intellifibers are integrated on both sides of the throat area. An electrical impulse actively changes the shape of the fibers - in less than a millisecond - at ball impact.

BENEFIT:
According to Head, in less than the first millisecond of ball impact, Intellifibers stiffen and reduce bending in the throat area for unmatched power in current racquet design. Unlike mechanical energy, electrical energy does not create vibrations. Therefore, 20% of the vibrations are immediately eliminated upon ball impact for optimum comfort.

Head CrossBow
CrossBow

HEAD's CrossBow is the world's first and only dynamic bridge racquet construction. CrossBow racquets are two pieces: the frame and the bridge. The bridge is suspended from the frame and moves independently.

CrossBow acts like a spring and is loaded during ball impact. It stores that impact energy in both the bridge and stringbed. The stored energy is released as the ball accelerates off the stringbed for maximum power.

CrossBow enlarges the sweetspot because it has 10 main strings going through the dynamic bridge.

HEAD InteGrip
InteGrip

HEAD's InteGrip consists of a new dampening material that fits between two brushed aluminum connectors and the shaft. The material is made up aluminum, elastormer and polyurtethane foam and is visible between the two InteGrip connectors. The InteGrip provides significant racquet vibration reduction for maximum comfort.

HEAD MicroGEL
MicroGel Technology

FEATURE:
When combined with carbon composite fibers in the racquet head, MicroGel deforms and compresses upon ball impact, uniformly absorbing and distributing the impact load around the entire frame.

BENEFIT:
According to HEAD, MicroGel creates a rock-solid feel and improved comfort while offering extra stability against twisting.
Head d3o
d30

d3o belongs to the "smart materials" category, which is a futuristic material with abnormal behavior characteristics. More specifically, d3o belongs to a subcategory of "dilatant foams", which dramatically change their behavior under dynamic loading or impact. Integrated in the lay-up and positioned in the shaft of the racquet, d3o offers new possibilities for tennis players.

The d3o technology is able to sense the needs of the players during different strokes (it's able to adapt to you). On high-speed impacts (aggressive shots), the smart molecules lock together within nanoseconds and dramatically increase the stiffness of the whole racquet frame to provide maximum power. On slow-speed impacts (slice or drop shots), the d3o molecules absorb the impact to provide a softer touch for better feel. What does this mean to a tennis player? Passing shots are even harder and drop shots more precise, rewarding your spontaneity and supporting your courageous decisions.

Head Grommets with Teflon
Grommets with Teflon

The HEAD Grommets with Teflon friction reducing polymer provides a low-friction contact surface, enabling the strings to slide through the grommets with nearly no friction. Benefit: Moving without resistance, the strings maintain the energy during ball impact, providing you with more power.

PowerAngle Diagonally-Strung
PowerAngle Diagonals

IDEAL COMFORT with EXCELLENT PLAYABILITY

PowerAngle diagonal strings are equal in length and reduce vibration by dispersing the impact of the ball more evenly around the frame.

Conventionally-strung rackets have horizontal and vertical strings that are unequal in length and unevenly disperse the impact of the ball.

EQUAL-LENGTH DIAGONALS REDUCE VIBRATION BY 40% = EASY ON THE ARM

PowerAngle diagonals protect the muscles and joints of the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, and hand from harmful vibrations and undue stress. The longer, diagonal strings reduce vibration and disperse the impact away from the racket handle, resulting in unmatched arm comfort. Conclusive scientific lab tests, validated by Intel Science Competition, 2008, showed that PowerAngle stringing "significantly reduces levels of vibration (by 40%) without reducing overall performance, and lessened the negative physical effects on a tennis player’s elbow." Doctors and tennis coaches endorse PowerAngle, confirming that less effort is needed to hit a ball solidly and that less vibration is transmitted to a player's arm.

BETTER TRACTION = MORE CONTROL

PowerAngle diagonal strings grip the ball strongly, similar to the way diagonal treads on tires produce superior traction. The tennis ball stays on the diagonal strings longer, guaranteeing added spin with superb control.

EASY TO STRING and EXTENDED STRING LIFE

PowerAngle Rackets have dot-to-dot number markings on each frame, making them as easy to string as conventionally-strung frames. The diagonal pattern forms a more secure weave that creates less friction between strings. As a result, PowerAngle stringing lasts longer than conventional stringing.

Feel better. Play better. Go diagonal!

Volkl Catapult Technology
Volkl Catapult Technology

1. Pre-Load - Activating the Catapult: The Catapult is a spring freely mounted onto the frame and is pre-loaded during the stringing process.

2. Control Phase - Receive Time: As the ball hits the string bed, the Catapult spring compresses and energizes or "loads" the catapult, thus creating a deeper string bed pocket. The increase in receive time (the Control Phase) results in 30% more control and a larger sweetspot.

3. Power Phase - Release Time: The explosive resetting of the Catapult shortens the release time (the Power Phase) by 30%, delivering more power. Power is further enhanced because the ball compresses less and retains more of its own energy.

Wilson Triad Technology with Iso.Zorb
Triad Technology with Iso.Zorb

According to Wilson, the traditional one-piece racquet design may minimize critical playing characteristics (power, comfort, control) when attempting to maximize another.
But what if the hoop and the handle never touched? Not only could you maximize power in the hoop and control in the handle, you could isolate shock and prevent it from reaching the arm. For the first time ever, you could design a racquet that didn't compromise. Introducing TRIAD, a revolutionary tri-component design that (according to Wilson) maximizes power, control, and comfort without compromising one for the other. The hoop and the handle of a TRIAD racquet are designed as customized components. They never touch. Wilson buffers them with Iso-Zorbª, an exclusive Wilson polymer similar to the material used in skyscraper foundations to absorb the shock of an earthquake. Wilson believes this design breakthrough delivers a level of performance impossible in an ordinary one-piece racquet.
