Summary
Green means go, and the new bright green Super G 7 from Volkl is definitely a racquet we feel you should go demo. Volkl has updated this lighter 7 series racquet (11.2 ounces strung) by combining its new Super G grommet system, which allows the strings to move in every direction, with V-Sponse material, which creates more snap back and increased energy return. Our playtesters raved about the maneuverability of the Super G 7 from all areas of the court. They found a perfect amount of power and control from the baseline, which allowed them to play their best shot whether they were on the offensive or defensive. At net, the crisp response from the Super G 7 allowed our playtesters to take control of the point without having to sacrifice comfort. It didn't matter if the TW playtesters were serving or returning, they were able to start the point off on offense with this stable, solid racquet. Overall, the forgiving Super G 7 is an excellent option for intermediate and advanced players looking for an easy-to-use racquet with plenty of stability.
Groundstrokes - 85
The Volkl Super G 7 was a hit with our playtesters from the baseline. This racquet fit Brittany's game style. She raved, "This was just a fun racquet to play with and it was in my wheelhouse when it came to specs. It was so easy to use from the baseline. I had easy access to power with the large sweetspot and headsize but still had enough control to go for riskier shots or change the direction of the ball. I loved how easy it was to get depth on my groundstrokes even when I was on the defensive and reaching for balls. This racquet fit my game style perfectly. I could be aggressive when I needed to be, but I felt comfortable playing a more neutral, consistent style as well."
As Chris found with other Super G updates, the Super G 7 played with more control than the racquet it replaces. He said, "The maneuverability was the same, and I also had the same access to easy power and spin. However, feel and control were both improved. I felt better connected to where the ball was going with this Super G 7. Having improved accuracy is always a good thing when you are working with a 104 square inch head. I got added feel from its large and forgiving sweetspot, which meant I never felt disconnected from my shots. I was hitting with solid pace and spin from the baseline. I liked the power level, and I could rally pretty effortlessly with it. When I was stretched wide it helped me add some depth to defensive shots."

Volleys - 83
Both of our playtesters enjoyed hitting firm, crisp volleys at net with the Volkl Super G 7. Chris had nothing but positive things to say, offering, "I found a surprisingly crisp and clean response from this racquet at net. I also thought it offered a solid response that's usually only found in heavier racquets. Again, I was getting some nice spin on the ball, and I found it easy to carve angles. Anything high could be punched away thanks to the easy access to power with this racquet. I had a lot of success attacking the net in both singles and doubles."
"This racquet was maneuverable at the net, yet still stable on heavier hit shots," Brittany agreed. "The feel was on the crisper side, but the Super G 7 didn't feel harsh or play like its stiffness rating of 73. I felt very comfortable at the net whether I was having exchanges in doubles or trying to close the net after an approach shot in singles."
Serves - 84
Power and maneuverability were highlights when serving with the Volkl Super G 7. Confident while serving Brittany said, "With plenty of racquet head speed, I could easily generate power on my first serves. I have a tendency to go for big, flat serves on my first serve, but if a match gets tight I tend to rely on my slice serve into the body for a more consistent first serve. With this racquet I didn't have to choose because I was swinging with confidence no matter which serve I was hitting. Additionally, I had enough mass behind the ball to keep my second serve from sitting up or being attacked. My serves were also landing deep in the service box."
Chris agreed. He said, "I served solidly with this racquet. I was getting exceptional pace, and when tracking my average serve speed with our PlaySight Smart Court, I found I was right on the mark. I liked the level of spin I could generate with it on both topspin and slice serves. This racquet came through contact so easily that I never got tired. Even toward the end of a match I was able to keep my serves on pace. Along with the new Prince Textreme Warrior 107, the Super G 7 has been one of my favorite racquets to serve with as of late."

Returns - 86
Both of our playtesters were able to start on the offensive when using the Volkl Super G 7 to hit returns. "Surprisingly, I was able to take a good rip at the ball with this racquet on returns," offered Chris. "I found ample control so I could confidently swing away. In doubles I was driving cross court returns with good pace and spin. When I was looking to scramble back a big serve I liked that this racquet offered up enough power for me to block the ball back with good depth. I also liked that this racquet felt solid and comfortable even when I was returning big serves."
This racquet helped accentuate one of Brittany's favorite shots, the return. She said, "I could be aggressive when I needed to be on second serves and could step in well in front of the baseline and take big cuts at the ball. When I was returning a heavier first serve I was able to keep the point neutral by using the server's pace and blocking back my returns deep into the court. I had enough control that I could aim anywhere, which allowed me to go for riskier shots."
