Customer feedback
Comments: Nice racquet as far as control and OK spin. Not to be as revered or feared as I think it is sometimes. Good for experimenting with lead tape; you can put lots around the head without stuffing your arm and shoulder.
If you're a one type of racquet person I don't recommend it as you'll need to go to your bag for an alternative when you can't get what you want out of it during a match. If you're over hitting with everything else this might be ideal for you. (Although bad strings make it a trampoline like any other racquet).
Comments: I have enjoyed playing with ProStaff 6.0 for several years. Then I tried playing with the newer K Factor Six-One 95 racquet with the idea that the newer technology should improve my game. I was very disappointed. Both racquets feel similiar with good control. I can serve much better with the PS 6.0 with faster snap and greater accuracy. The baseline play feels similiar on both racquets. The Six-One offers a slightly larger sweet spot and more power. However, with the extra power, I was hitting the ball long more frequently. Therefore, I am switching back to my trusty 6.0. I also purchased another 6.0 before they run out.
Comments: The Pro Staff 6.0 85 is THE racquet to buy if you are looking to improve your game. The "weak" should not apply! Generating your own power is a must. This is a very heavy stick and it takes time to get used to it. The racquet is a servers dream. Once you become familiar with the racquet it begins to work for you. It forces you to perfect your timing and keep your eye on the ball. This means you will get more serves, volleys, and passing shots in. The only downfall to this racquet is that it can wear you down during a long service game. Thanks TENNIS WAREHOUSE for continuing to sell the PRO STAFF 6.0 85.
Comments: An outstanding switch for me. I used to play with the Flexpoint Prestige Midplus (98 sq. in.) but switched a couple of months back and my game has just tightened up a huge deal. I must warn everyone that this is not an easy stick to hit with. You will need to supply all of the power, and you will not hit the tiny sweet spot 80% of the time in the first few weeks. But as you get more and more comfortable, there is not a better feeling than when you crush a forehand down the line into the corner, or hit a perfect serve or a sublime volley. My biggest improvement was in my serving because this baby keeps all my big serves in. I would recommend this to anyone who is serious about improving their game.
Comments: I'm 13, and I just switched to the ProStaff 85, and it's awesome! I love it because it improves your serves so much and the graphite system is awesome! This is my favorite racquet.
Comments: I'm a 4.5 rated 57-year-old male and have been using this racquet in the 95 head size for 12 years. I felt as I got older I needed a little more pop. I've been using Prince synthetic gut for years. I tried Luxilon Big Banger Ace with very little luck. The string seemed to slick. A 5.0 friend told me to try Luxilon Big Banger Rough. The combination is perfect for me. I string at 60lb. My dependable old friend has new life. I've tried the nCodes, and they are no better than this.
Comments: I cannot say enough good things about the Prostaff 6.0 because it's simply one of the best or if not, the best racket ever, in my opinion. Since the racket has a smaller sweetspot than most rackets today it makes you work even harder to hit that sweetspot. Once you're use to the racket your opponents will be in for a rude awakening because this racket has exceptional groundstrokes and amazing net plays. I've been playing since I was 12 and now I'm in my early 30's and the Prostaff Original 6.0 is by far the best of the best. It's no wonder Pete Sampras stuck with this racket throughout his career and carried home 14 Grand Slams.
Comments: I played the with ProStaff 85 old version for more than 15 years. This racquet feels same as my old one. Lovely! No racquet in the market can gives you more feel than PS85.
Comments: Best Racquet I have ever played with. More control, although you have to generate your own power, this is the best stick I have had in years!!
Comments: I switched to the 95 version of this racquet when my Hyper Pro Staff 95's were getting a little long in the tooth. I bought two 95's blindly without demoing them, just reading the reviews here. I bought them with 16g Luxilon rough strings and I immediately noticed better pace and movement on my shots even though I'd been using Luxilon 18g in the old sticks. The only problem I have with this racquet is that I've got so much more feel on my backhand side that I'm now developing a topspin and drive I never had. A friend who uses the K90 even said to me last weekend that "the ball just sounds nice when it comes off that racquet." I'm buying two more strung with 18g Luxilon today in case they discontinue them. You just can't grasp the amount of feel this racquet has when you play with it.
Comments: I have been looking for new 85 square inch Dunlop Max 200g, but couldn't find any. After switching the leather grip to a cushion grip, the 85 square inch prostaff has a great feel. It is not as flexible as the dunlop but much better than the ncode rackets
Comments: I used to play with these racquets back in my college days. I had not touched one in nearly 20 years until last week. Then it all came back to me... It feels like hitting with a paddle board compared to my trusty Prince OS. The PS 85 is not very forgiving, but it's a control freaks' dream. Deft touch shots seem to come at will. You instantly have the sensation of incredible feel and touch on the ball. Volleys are extremely stable and "poppy" due to the weight of the beast (at nearly 13 grams!) Power is lacking a bit by today's standards, but if you have big strokes, who needs power? It's definitely one of the greatest racquets of all time. How can so many pros be wrong?
Comments: I have to say, simply, one of the three best tour racquets ever made. The other two being the new k-factor ksix-one tour 90, and the head i.prestige midplus. The best feel of most, but you have to provide your own power, and you have to be careful about ruining your arm with this. You also have to be a very advanced player to even hit the sweet spot on this, because of the small head size. But nonetheless, it is an amazing racquet.
Comments: Best racquet I have ever played with. After reading the good things about it, I got one right away. Really great feeling racquet with great accuracy. Those say that this racket was almost as if designed to keep the ball in. I find no problem generating power with this stick. Maybe the Gut helped. I actually play better with this 85 frame. The weight feels really good...no shocks upon/post impact unlike most rackets today with the new tech. I’m wanting a second one for back up. I really enjoyed the more head-light feel too…very solid for serve, ground strokes and volleys. After playing with this stick, I'm thinking about selling my APD/Cortex, because I don't think I will ever touch that stick again. Buyers be ready to say good-by to your old beloved stick after getting this classic, one of the best racquet ever made.
Comments: I've been demoing this racquet (the original 85) for a few days now, and it is just spectacular. The amount of control I get out of it and the classic feel of leather under my overgrip really is nice. I am going to continue using my Head FXP Prestige, but will most likely keep this racquet off to the side for recreation, maybe a backup racquet in a match. The accusations of it being too heavy rely on the player. I actually prefer a heavier racquet, so I felt right at home. Also, helping this feeling along is the fact that this racquet embodies my philosophy of being a tool of the racquet. This racquet can get the job done, but it needs you to do all the work for it.
Comments: The ultimate player’s racket. I bought it as a collector’s item, but as soon it arrived I couldn’t let it go. It helps to improve your game because the moment you pick it up you know that you have to be fast and hit the small sweet spot. It develops your swing mechanics and footwork. I’m more consistent and sometimes I produce outstanding shots. It’s pure fun hitting with this racket and a 2 hour game it’s the best workout there is.
I am a faster, stronger and consistent player thanks to this one.
Comments: This is a classic in every sense of the word; no wonder it is a bestseller. It is, however, a bit tough on the arm. I first hit with the original made in St. Vincent (a demo) -- not the Made in Taiwan frames. Alas, I should have bought the scuffed demo when I had the chance because it was a lot more flexible (you cold feel the frame flex). Am thinking of switching the K-factor 90 but will hold on to this until prices drop.
Comments: This is a great racquet. It gives you great control and feel. But you need to provide your own power to hit it deep. And it’s also not that very forgiving if you hit off the sweet spot. Since this is a pretty hard racquet to use you automatically improve over time as you hit the sweet spot more often and develop a good swing.
Comments: I absolutely loved this racquet. I have been playing with the Head Flexpoint Radical and this racquet matches right up with it and then some. I felt a slight power reduction with the Pro Staff 6.0 85. This racquet is extremely stable. My groundstrokes had much more control. You however have to generate a little more pace on the ball than normal. The volleys are what separated this racquet from my Flexpoint Radical. This racquet oozes with feel. I felt extremely confident using this racquet at the net.
Comments: The 95 is a good stick. But it is quite harsh on the arm if you don't hit its sweetspot. Also compared with the modern rackets, it has less power, a lot more touch and a lot more flexible. The modern rackets are not that harsh, thus more comfortable.
Comments: Most amazing racquet I've ever hit with. Improved my game greatly by forcing me to use better footwork and keep my eye on the ball (or else you'll miss the sweet spot and the ball won't make it over the net). Once you get used to this racquet you won't want to hit with anything else. This is not for people who want a powerful racquet, you'll need to supply that yourself. I can't buy these fast enough, TW keep them in stock!!! I hit very hard with lots of spin, I'm a singles baseliner with a big serve.
Comments: This stick is not as demanding as other people say. When you hit with too much power on other sticks they go way long. This stick keeps the ball in play for a longer period of time. But to use this racquet it takes a few days for your hand eye coordination to get used to it. And you need some good footwork to be good at using this stick. Overall, good for anybody 4.0+ but it all depends on a players preferences in a long run.
Comments: Do not believe what you read about this racquet not having enough power. I have been using a Pro Staff 6.0 85 for over 15 years ever since I retired my old racquet - a Dunlop Max 200g and it has all the power a player ever needs. The only modifications I have made is to apply lead tape to 3 and 9 o'clock on the frame. You have to have a nice loose grip to play tennis and if you manage to figure out how to use the weight of this racquet, all the power and spin you ever need will be there!
Comments: I can't imagine playing tennis without PS 6.0 95. I have several other racquets and this one is my favorite. Great in the department of serves and volleys; groundstrokes need extra efforts but no problem if you generate your own power. I really wonder why Wilson discontinued this frame in the N-code and K-factor line. Wilson should update PS 6.0 95 with tid bit more stiffness and swing weight. They will sell well.
Comments: I have been playing with the N-code 90 for almost two years and have loved every minute of it. I was about to change to the K-factor until I read the feedback. Everyone said that the K-factor was a lot like this frame. So, I bought this until the prices of the K-factor go down a bit, and it is superb! It has a lot more 'feel' than the N-code. I finally understand that illusive 'feel' everyone talks about with this racket! It is a lot softer feeling than the n-code and a lot more maneuverable surprisingly. If you want the K-factor but don't want the high prices, buy this stick.
Comments: I’m loving this racquet right now. My shots are much more stable. It’s taking me a while to get used to this stick since I just switched from a Head Flexpoint Prestige about a week ago. This racquet seriously feels like it's an extension of your arm and I am able to hit a better one-handed backhand. With this stick, you’ll be able to place the ball wherever you want with power and spin. This will help you develop better strokes and solid footwork. I’m loving this racquet.
Comments: I also started my tennis voyage using a Pure Drive, but didn't like how the racquet had no "feel". I never knew if I hit the ball well or had the control that I wanted. I never felt like I did things on purpose with the racquet. I'm not big on the high tensions either so I felt I needed to demo new racquet's and voila along came the ps 6.0. I never knew what feel was until I hit with these prostaff racquet. It really lets you know whether you will hit a good shot or not just by the feel. Also the control is amazing. To some it my be on the heavy side but you get over the weight within a week than it just feels like any other racquet. Also when people say that this is a demanding racquet they weren't kidding. You really have to watch the ball at all times and continue to watch it as it hits the string bed. Even with all these new racquets out with "black kryptonite," and "mini-gel," nothing will give you the feel and the control of a ps 6.0 85 aka the scalpel of tennis.
Comments: I serve-and-volley a lot and I just got the ProStaff 95 and I must say, it provides excellent feel and control but is very unforgiving. What it did do for me is improve my game right from the moment I swung at a ball. If your form is good, the racquet will reward you generously. Placement with groundstrokes came naturally after getting the swing right. Volleys are, however, the true forte of this racquet. I've never had such an easy time serve-and-volleying. You can see why Sampras loved this racquet - your control and natural execution of touch volleys, dropshots and deep volleys will surprise you, if you get your form right of course. Unrivalled control and feel just make sure to brush up on your basics first.
Comments: I have been reunited with this racquet! I used to own one in high school (an 85), but after it broke, I tried other more affordable racquets. Unfortunately, my strokes suffered and were made worse by my own feeble attempts to hit the power game with wide-body and lighter racquets. I finally bought the 95 just a few months ago. It took me about 1 week to get readjusted to this racquet's heftiness and lightheadedness. These qualities make a great combination for the racquet's comfort and playability. You have to have "classic strokes" to play well with this racquet. I have found that my long and simple take-back strokes are compatible with the PS 95. Volleys are crisp, and although not automatic put-aways, they can set me up for the real kill. I feel that my groundstrokes have greatly improved because of this racquet. If you want a player's racquet that just begs to be controlled by you, try this one.
Comments: I have used the Roddick pure drive plus for years. When I get a chance I will demo a racquet. With this stick I was able to gain the confidence to place the ball anywhere and with power if I prepared early for the ball. This racquet really makes you work hard on each shot, it makes you play better. You can't be lazy with this racquet. This racquet is not meant for beginners or intermediate players, it's for the few who have solid strokes and good footwork. If you have problems with control and too much power I would recommend taking this stick out for a test drive. It will give you control, comfort and the confidence you need.
Comments: After trying various racquets over the years, this racquet and I reunited a few months ago. I used to have the 85 sq. in version and played well with it through high school in the early 80s. After it broke, I tried other (more affordable) racquets. The advent of power tennis in the late 80s didn't help with my strokes either. The combination of the other lighter racquets I was using plus my own attempt at playing the power game just caused a breakdown in my strokes. I needed to get back to the basics of stroke production the way I learned it in high school. Having returned to the form I had before, I decided to buy the 95 version. At first, I had trouble with the headlight-ness of the racquet. The head-heavy racquets I had been using made the Pro Staff feel strange at first. Soon, however, I found my rhythm and groove back. My strokes are now so sound, and the racquet feels like an extension of my arm. The fact that it is in the 12 oz. range does wonders for my strokes since I am from the old school of long takebacks and full follow-through. I'm perfectly satisfied that I purchased two of these babies, and I definitely recommend others to try this racquet as well.
Comments: The right string makes this racquet sing. This racquet is actually very easy to play with if you have the correct string and grip size. I've been using it since 1998, and have tried other racquets. For serious matches, I always go back to this one, with the gut strung around 60. 16 gauge string is probably not a good idea for this racquet, due to its fairly small head size. I don't agree with those who say this racquet is too demanding. The small head size actually makes it easier to keep the ball in play, and makes it easier to produce angles. People marvel at Federer, but they should note he's the only pro who uses a 90 sq in racquet head. That gives him some edge in the angle and control department. Sampras noted that when he changed to the Federer 90, he lost some control and gained some power. It's true that this racquet isn't really powerful, but with gut and with some lead at 9 and 3, it's powerful enough. It also allows you to produce a lot of variety.
Comments: Age age 34, I am relatively new to the game with about 3.5 years of play. I made my way through a Wilson Triad 5.5, then Babolat Pure Drive, and then a nCode 6.1 95, move to less power, and more control each step. I got curious about the 6.0 95 based on the reviews, and finally got to play with one yesterday. Wow, I did not expect it to be so good. Starting in recent years, I had no experience with more flexible racquets, with less 'game improvement' technology. Must say I am really impressed with how the 6.0 made me play better, on every aspect of my game, forehand, single backhand, slice, volley and service. Not too heavy, really good racquet. I am really happy with it.
Comments: I love this racquet! It has great control, and pretty descent power. All around its a great racquet, I’m probably going to get another one pretty soon!
Comments: This racquet represents the game in the days before the Liquidmetals, Pure Drives, Radicals and NCodes. Bought my first PS Classic 6.0 exactly 10 yrs ago, struggled with it for a long time. This is one racquet where you have to be a regular player, if you don't have the proper stroke mechanics you'll be miserable. It actually 'trains' you to develop the right stroke mechanics. If you can use this racquet you can play with almost any other racquet. Now that I'm in my early 30s - I still get a lot of satisfaction beating the younger players using the NCodes, Pure Drives and the Radicals - nothing beats the control, precision and power of this stick. I'm still looking for a stick that will replace this one in time to come as the years start taking its toll on me; but right now there is nothing that makes a convincing case for replacing the good ol' Pro Staff Classic 6.0.
Comments: Excellent racquet good for well developed stroke tennis players. Mainly for the control orientated players.
Comments: I started playing tennis the summer prior to my freshman year in high school, and with no other racquet than the Wilson PS 6.0 85. I can only imagine that my rise to triumph was assisted greatly by this racquet. I joined Varsity tennis and even became a collage tennis player playing with the PS. Then life's journeys took me away from the game, and upon my recent comeback I tried other racquets, Head liquid metals, all the Agassi's, and more recently the Federer nCode six one (85 & 95). Then a miracle happened, I found this site, and with it a great demo program that allowed me to demo the PS 6.0 original again, and with it I found my youth. I found my shots and tricks of old. The reason why this racquet is great is because of its tremendous feel. For most players above 4.0, generating power is not an issue, and thus, using this great racquet allows for amazing communication with the ball. Since playing with it I can finally say that I can hit the ball wherever I want on the court. Serves are amazing. I am beating players with ease now that I usually beat with difficulty. This is a great racquet, I just ordered two and hope to receive them soon. Shame if they stop production. I did go for the 95 this around. I found my self getting tired much sooner than before because you have to generate the power on every shot, and though it is extremely rewarding to swing away the ball to an exact location, the lack of power does take its toll on me because lack of conditioning. I hate to see this racquet go.
Comments: Wow! What a racquet! This racquet is, needless to say, amazing! I got this racquet lightly used and decided to string it with Pro Hurricane Tour 17 (M)/ NXT Tour 18 (C) @ 62 lbs. and I got all of the power I need! This racquet doesn't let you get away with anything. At first when I started using it, I noticed a huge jump in power (surprisingly) in my forehand, but that was pretty much it. My serves and backhands dramatically suffered in power and depth. However, on some solo practice I started adjusting things in my game and now my serve is so consistent with excellent power! I can blast any shot like I was using a super oversize, but with amazing control. Highly recommend this racquet.
Comments:Amazing racquet began using this racquet, as it was my dad’s old racquet. I switched to the Slazenger
Probraided Henman, then to the liquid metal prestige. One day when I broke the strings on both my prestige I decided to use this
racquet and it was amazing. It takes a consistent ball striker to truly appreciate it. I played a full season of college NCAA III
tennis with this and I just ordered 2 more. These racquets have incredible feel and control from any part of the court. I would
suggest stringing it low with a multi or gut. I would suggest it to anyone; even my 2.0-3.0 friends love the feel you get when you
hit with it.
Comments: This is the best racquet I have ever tried. I have 3 of these right now and have broken 2 previous 95s
already. I'm trying to find some more... The Prostaff 6.0 95 has everything: CONTROL, POWER and more CONTROL. Did I forget
to mention I've had these racquets for 13 years.
Comments: I have been playing with the PS 85 for about 3 months after a long layoff (10 years), and it feels just as
good as it ever did. Don't get me wrong, you have to be on your form and technique, or you will not hit the ball well.
That is the beauty of this racquet, it gives you incredible feedback as to what you are not doing, but also as to what you are doing
well. Just look at the quality of your shots to tell if it was a good swing or a bad one. You must focus on your technique on every
stroke. Volleys are a joke-you can put it anywhere you want. Slice it cross-court or punch it to the corner, it's all good. Serves
come off with crazy spin or killer pop with ease-again, it's all in the technique, the racquet does not do it for you. I switch
between the PS 85 and the N-code 95(16x18), depending on how spry I am feeling. If I want to be a little lazier, I use the N-code.
The PS 85 gives me control, control, and more control. If you can supply your own pop, it is a worthy weapon indeed.
Comments: There has only been one racket that feels perfect just holding it. And it plays even better! If you can
get a rhythm with it nothing will reward more. It lacks pop, but if you’re good enough you don’t need the pop. When you hit with
this stick, and you miss, you know it’s your fault. No other racket in the world can tell you that.
Comments: This racquet is just terrific. I was recently using a Wilson Jack Kramer Pro Staff and loved it, but it
looked like it could break any time soon. So I checked out the Wilson ProStaff 6.0 85 and found out its pretty similar; so I ordered
it and its even better! I also was looking for a racquet that would be easy to use during long rallies and this is it. And I'm not one
who supplies loads of power when needed, but when strung at somewhere between 50-55lbs., my shots can explode. I'll
probably be sticking with it for a long time.
Comments: This racquet is ok if used as a recreational racquet. Nice nostalgic feel, but for competition it's not a
good choice. It doesn't have enough juice to go against the newer, lighter, more powerful racquets. It's frustrating trying to
counter punch against a hard hitter. The 95 is less demanding and easier to play with. Recently gave up these racquets and took
up a more modern racquet, the nSix-One 95, to have a chance against any player.
Comments: This racquet is just great. I was using Head racquets and I played very well with them, but this racquet
is just the best of the best. I don't even have words for it, the ground strokes are the best, it’s stable and accurate at the net, the
racquet is just so well balanced it feels like you're swinging a 10 oz racquet. Everything is just great, I will stick with the racquet
forever!
Comments: The first two days were brutal. Although I noticed that all the ball fuzz was in the center, the racket
was not working for me. You must be focused on every shot. Then on the third day, I went to the courts ready to work. Then,
everything paid off. I was acing my opponents and ripping my shots with good depth and spin. I'm a 14 year old junior and this
by far beats those Pure Drives.
Comments: I know there are many advance players who like this racquet, but for all you 3.0 - 4.0
players who want a game of power and artistry, buy a few of these and work, work, work. It trains you as you
train it. I've fallen in love and now have 3 of these deadly assassins. It is for the patient, calm, controlled, yet
powerful player who likes that scalpel like feel for performing surgery on court. Don't worry about your NTRP
rating; just make sure you demo this puppy!
Comments: A truly great racket and following my conversation with Pete he said the same thing.
We were warming up and hit for about an hour. The arm never feels anything. All the control, power and
direction you will ever need.
Comments: Let's just say that it's been a while since I've picked up my racquet and I was a little
hesitant when my son asked me to play. Although I did play ("back in the day")singles as well as doubles, that
was like about more than 10 years ago as well as 30-35 lbs less than what I weigh now...but when I did heft my
ProStaff 95, it felt great using it again! Memories of great games, sad losses & everything else in between came
right back. The racquet still delivered what I expected it to do even in this stage of my tennis game. So much so
that other players on the court asked to try the racquet and were still ecstatic on how it felt. In my opinion, when
Wilson created this racquet, they hit the target dead on!! With that said, I would say that although this racquet
might not be for everyone, once you've acclimated yourself to it, you'll feel the same as I do.
Comments: This is one of the greatest racquets ever made. I absolutely think that developing
players can progress at a better rate by using traditional players' racquet like the 85.
Comments: I have been playing with nSix-One Tour 90 with NXT Tour 16 and usually string it at 60
lbs. With curiosity, I switched to Prostaff 6.0 85 and used the same string and tension and I love it. The 6.0 85 is
heftier and has more pop than the nSix-One Tour 90. The result is that I get more pinpoint accuracy on every
stroke. However, the 6.0 85 is weaker than the nSix-One Tour 90 in terms of spin and power but that is not my
problem. What I like is its control-oriented aspect. If you are a serve-and-vollier, I recommend the Prostaff 6.0
85. If you are baseliner, I recommend the nSix one tour 90.
Comments: I use the nCode Six-One, but my curiosity led me to demo this classic. However, it felt
very weak even with my fast swings. The nSix-One is much better.
Comments: I played with this racquet over ten years ago and went to the 6.1 and played with that
throughout the 90's into today, but I always felt I lost some control with the 6.1. So decided to get another 6.0 85
and swing it. You definitely need some strength to swing this club. But the feel and steadiness of this frame are
unlike any stick on the market today I believe. If you have sound stroke mechanics you don't have to generate a
big swing, the racquet will do it for you. Took me about two days of about 5 hrs of hitting to get back into this
frame again. Pinpoint accuracy and serves are deadly with it.
Comments: Well, after all these years of playing with the 6.0 I'm still in love and faithful to these
babies. Once in awhile I get the urge of playtesting some other rackets but I still go back to these puppies, I
guess it's true when they say first love never dies, you might have a fling once in awhile but you tend to come
back to the one that's faithful. Just an advice to people who want to try this racket, it can be very frustrating but
you have to give it a lot of time to unlock the potential of this racket. I've been playing with the 6.0 for years now
and I feel that there's still some hidden potentials that I haven't discover yet, yes it is a magical racket. Happy
hitting.
Comments: This is a very hefty racquet that is pretty useful when I would like to correct my swing
forms. A lot of today’s' racquets are so light and easy to wield, Hacks like myself tend to develop unhealthy
habits in swings, especially in volley. It happens because I do not play tennis as often as I used to be able to
back when I was in high school or college. When I think my swing forms are getting out of hands, I come back to
this original ProStaff. If you can do volleys comfortably with this racquet, you have to be pretty good (at least in
my league).
