Comments:
The Wilson Open II are a high quality shoe for sure. They are certainly light. Be advised that they are wide through the toe box, but not so much in the mid-foot and heal. I'd say I have a medium width foot, but slide around in them a little. Also, it's a little surprising how much my feet sweat in them considering all the venting they have!
Comments: These shoes are great! The #1 thing to comment on is how they
feel! They are so comfortable from the moment you put your foot in, I
knew these were winners. PROS: Cushion, Speed, breathability, and
comfort. (THESE THINGS PERFORMED!) CONS: Durability was a bit low for
the out-sole, and insole. When I looked in my shoe, I saw the material
ripping after only weeks.
Comments: Just wore out my first pair of Opens. I play 7 days a week, they lasted 3 months. Don't know if that is average. However, I am in the process of ordering two more pairs. These shoes are like bedroom slippers. Comfort from the moment I put them on. Fit like a leather glove. I am a very quick player and I think I picked up some additional speed, since they are so light. They say the new model is even lighter.
Comments: This was my first pair of Wilson tennis shoes. I am very happy with them. I am a 4.0 player who used Barricade 5s last year. In comparison with the Barricade 5, the Open II feels much lighter and provides more padding in the toe box. These shoes are very comfortable and provide good stability.
Comments: I picked these shoes up on clearance and for the most part I have been very pleased with them. However they did initially give me some problems.
The Good: Light weight, Breathable, Very Stable, and the outsole has lasted just as long or longer than any other shoe I have used.
The Bad: Even though the shoe has a very roomy toe box it is extremely narrow in the mid foot. Not good for a pronater like myself. As long as th laces are tight as can be in the front and very loose in the middle it isn't much of a problem. The only real problem I had with this shoe is the straps from the tongue to the insole. They caused me to blister consistently until I cut them.
Comments: Hi everybody, I just bought a pair of Wilson Open II and began playing and they feel great, nevertheless I have a question: As I play in clay, are this shoes adequate for this surface? Are they designated for clay? Should I keep playing with them with no fear to damage the court? I make this question because everybody is telling me that they are not intended for this type of surface. Thanks for your feedback. The best outsole suited for clay is a full herringbone tread pattern and this shoe is only half. This shoe is best suited for hard court, but it will not damage the clay court. -TW Staff-
Comments: I love this shoe. I had a pair before and also liked them. They take a little break in, but after that they are very comfortable. Also, the arch is great and they breathe well. On court play they are very stable with great traction. Great shoe! I will get another pair.
Comments: This shoe is very comfortable. Good lateral support and perfect for the arch. I am a supinator and these shoes give good traction on hard courts which I play on and my feet feel like they are on sponges. I am very impressed with this shoe. I am sorry that they are going out of production, but I am going to go the distance with this shoe and enjoy them while I have them. Thanks Wilson for creating a shoe that fits and feels like a glove. I know they are being replaced by the Wilson Tour Spin shoes which I see are having good results also.
Comments: These are my favorite shoes. The arch supports my high arch perfectly. Previous to wearing these shoes, I had platar tendon issues which required me to tape my feet before playing. No taping needed with these shoes. Light weight suits my speedy allcourt game. I am stocking up on them in because I think Wilson has discontinued them.
Comments: These may be the best shoes I have ever used. The breathability is incredible and they are really light. Unfortunately not everyone can wear them since they are better for narrow feet. I play 5-6 times a week so I need a good shoe at a good price and these are the best. They do run a little long though.
Comments: Excellent shoes! They have a small problem in the arches, but weight, support, and ventilation is top-notch. Great for all types of players. It's just disappointing that none of the top players use these shoes. They would probably fall in love with these shoes.
Comments: This is the WORST tennis shoe I have ever owned. I've bought $20 clearance shoes which were infinitely better. I have been wearing the "original" Open shoe for the past several years and was blown away by the comfort. I tried these shoes, and could barely even finish a three-set match... even putting them on I instantly felt the discomfort. The high inside arch has some kind of rigid material that rubs bad enough to remove skin within hours, even with an extra padded insole and double socks. Plus the toebox is cavernous and allows for way too much movement. There could possibly be people for whom these shoes fit, but to call them the "Open II" is beyond misleading, and cost me time, money, and matches.
Comments: These shoes are decent tennis shoes. The have excellent ventilation and are very light. However, I can't wear them for long periods of time because of the pain they give me in the arch of my foot. Hopefully Wilson will go back to the drawing board on this one. Until then, I can't recommend them.
Comments: This shoe is very unique. The material is not very durable as I wore through the soles in less than a month. However, it is very light weight and there is great breathability. I would give these shoes a 7 out of 10 for comfort a 9 out of 10 for cushion. However, the durability is poor.
Comments: Great shoe! I love how they are very breathable, similar to the Nike Breathe Free II's. The only problem, if you could call it that, is a very high arch. It feels kind of like a lump. Im going to buy some insoles however. I love them!
Comments: I love these shoes. Very comfortable. I have a really bad bunion on one foot and these are the only sneakers that I like wearing.
Comments: Nice lightweight shoe. They DO have a slight rise under the ball of the foot that feels odd at first but you get used to it. Despite the mesh, which would make you think the shoes wouldn't last very long, my soles ran out before the sides (I play on several rough-surfaced hard courts). Wilson makes a great shoe and this is probably their best lightweight attempt.
Comments: This shoe is bittersweet. The lightweight construction and breathability being the sweet, the uncomfortable sole being the bitter. But all can be fixed by one thing. I bought a Doctor Scholls athletic insert, and now the shoes are not only light and breathable, but very comfy. By just spending an extra $14, these shoes are now my favorite tennis shoes out there.
Comments: I was wearing Wilson Challengers. Both need no breaking in. These seem to have a rise under the ball of the foot that is odd. It's not uncomfortable, and may just be extra padding, but it feels weird at first. The light weight is great -- hardly notice them on my feet compared to the Challenger.
Comments: Unbelievable! Great pair of shoes. I love the lightweight, it really helps me move a lot quicker on the court rather my barricade V's. It took them about 30 minutes to get them loose but have been flawless since.
Comments: These shoes are probably the worst shoes I've ever put on my feet. They are uncomfortable and have horrible durability. I bought my pair in early April and I already have severe wear on the soles. Definitely sticking with my Vapors.
Comments: These shoes are great! I just received a pair of these, and after playing about 20 minutes in my Barricade Vs, I switched over to these and I was flying! The breathability is great, and they only weigh about 13 ounces. All in all great shoes for speed, cushion, durability, and breathability. 10+. Great job, Wilson!
Comments: I just bought a pair of the White/Blue/Silver model. They felt very supportive considering their light weight. The review says they run long and they do. I'll be purchasing another pair at least 1/2 size smaller. They also run wide in the forefoot, even more than my current Breathe Free IIs.
