Customer feedback
Comments: These shoes look nice, but they are very stiff and hurt your feet and ankles if you play everyday.
Comments: Had this shoe for just about two months. Feels great when you play, but soles are not very durable. I am about to have to buy a new pair already. But overall, great shoe
Comments: These are not true to size! Buy half size smaller if you had the previous
vapors. These are bit more "slippery" on the hard courts and allow you to slide on
hard stops. It took me a week to get used to it but I think it's much easier on my
knees. It feels soft, maybe too soft. My heels feel bit of pain after 2 wks. Front toe
area is bit wider and I need to wear 2 socks to keep my toes from moving. Had to cut
out a blister due to the shoes. If you're 4.0 or lower, older, don't run around much this
shoe is very comfy and nice. Otherwise I like the previous generation, more support,
better traction, and they are on sale now!
Comments: When I got the shoes they looked spectacular. At first they are kind of stiff, but they start to loosen up after you play in them a couple times. I have had these shoes for about two months and they look just like they did the day I got them. They run about a half size big, so I would step down to your size. Overall this shoe is a great choice and can help improve your tennis game.
Comments: I think the comfort in this shoe is okay. Not bad at all though. I waited for the new shoes to come out so I bought these at the cheaper "sale" price. I really like the lightweight of all the vapors. I have not had them long enough to see how the durability is but hopefully they last a while but I would recommend to everyone.
Comments: I only had 130 dollars and wondering if these shoes were actually worth it. When I first bought the shoes it looked wonderful. Then when I first put my foot in and started walking; it felt like walking on pillows! I cannot believe how amazing this shoes are. It is worth the money trust me. Don't worry if the shoe is a little to big. I would get half a size bigger than you would get. Don't worry you wont crease them.
Comments: I got these shoes about a month ago and I think they're great! They are actually very
durable. I think this is because I got them at a later period which means Nike could improve
any flaws in the shoe. The shoe is also very good looking. So far they are AMAZING!!
Comments: When I had first bought these shoes, I found them a bit too stiff and inflexible. But when you broke into them, they felt very flexible and very lightweight. Their durability good be better and I wish Nike could make the vapors a little wider. I also wish Nike could make them softer like the vapor V's. Overall, very good shoe. I would recommend this to all.
Comments: I got this shoe like 3 weeks ago. I have a very wide feet. I thought it was a bad
shoe on the first three days and thought of bringing it back but I realized in the 4th day it
was the best tennis shoes since the breathe cage 2. Its very comfortable and durable. If you
have wide feet you should try this and don't be alarmed of it. its a good shoe. just try it. i
have the gold version.
Comments: I just got this shoe the other day in white/black and I must say I am very happy with this product. The shoe is not as stiff as others have said. The shoe is made of a very durable strong material, which makes it a little stiffer than other shoes but the shoe is quickly broken in and in no time it becomes very comfortable. The shoe has a smooth and comfortable fit and fits like a glove. Another thing i like about the shoe is that it has a higher toe guard than most other shoes. I myself drag my toe and side of shoe more than anything so this has really helped. So in my opinion, Overall great shoe. The shoe is overall good looking; I think the black and white version of the shoe looks better if you replace the black laces with white ones, but that's just me.
Comments: If you have flat feet look elsewhere. I loved the Vapor IVs and Vs and the Black and red VIs have better cosmetics than the the previous models. The VIs are great on forward movement but lateral movement kills the medial side of my right ankle. Popping out the top eyelet has helped with the pain.
Comments: I tried Asics Gel GR2 and Yonex SHT 306. Both gave me foot issues, GR2 heel issues, SHT 306- plantar fasciitis. So I was told this shoe was good for people with high arch and has fared better than the other two. I will post an update later but so far so good. They do take some time to break in as they are quite stiff and vary narrow in the toe box which I hope gets better are I break them in.
Comments: When I got these shoes, they were awesome. A bit uncomfortable at the start, but I can't wait till I broke into the shoes. They look great, even better in real life. Nike has made a great shoe, from what I can tell by already. Very stylish, and very well in performance.
Comments: Nike outdid themselves again. I thought this shoe would be extremely
stiff and uncomfortable, but I was completely wrong. They are so
amazingly light and fit, it is an honor to be wearing this shoe. Have
not played with them yet, so I'm not sure how durable these shoes are.
Comments: This shoe wore out in 2 weeks. I play 4 times a week for 2 hours. After 8 practices
it was time for a new pair. Ridiculous! Not recommended. Babolat Propulse 2 are the best
shoes for me.
Comments: This shoe looks really good on. Comfortable and light but the sole wore out on me in a couple of weeks. Literally I had a hole in the bottom of both shoes after only a few weeks times. Bummer because I really like them just wish they were more durable and a little less expensive.
Comments: In my opinion, this is the best tennis shoe ever made. After recovering from a broken foot this is the first shoe that I've played in that my foot hasn't ached in after 4+ hours of tennis. This shoe is better than the barricade V and the court ballistec 1.3. Other than durability and a slight break in period, this is a flawless shoe.
Comments: I put off buying the Vapor VIs even though I have loved the previous three models because of all the negative feedback they were first getting. I decided to get them anyway because of some of the feedback people that actually broke them in were giving, and I am glad I did. These shoes remind me of the way some older basketball shoes used to have to be worn around for a week or so to soften them up before doing real physical work in them. These weren't that bad, just harder to loosen up than other tennis shoes I've had. After wearing them around the house to string a few racquets and a couple long practices they were great. I actually didn't think they were even that bad right away! The shoe has the slim Vapor fit which I love, the low to the ground but cushy feel, and they are light as a feather on (especially compared to the ballistics, which do feel heavy on). I know this is a great shoe, so I wish people wouldn't start rumors, ha!
Comments: As most have said, the shoes require some break in, and the top eyelets rub at first. I have now worn them 4 times and they do feel better with each wearing.
the fit frame really seems to help stabilize my foot and relieve my achilles tendonitis. roomy comfortable forefoot, and really gives a firm supportive feel in the heels. Firm support without weighing you down!! I like 'em!
Comments: Good looking shoes but not very comfortable esp. when compared to Adidas Barricades.
Comments: These shoes are GREAT! I love them. I can stop on a dime, they look very sharp, and they are 4 out of 5 comfortable after breaking them in. (I wear inserts in my shoes, so I have no problems with most of my shoes anyway.) But, these are very fast shoes. You will get to balls you can't get to. ;) Roger would be worried! These are not for people with very wide feet. I'm about an E width, with an average arch and they fit me fine. The top of the shoe at the back does rub your Achilles a bit at first. Do not go without socks and wear a substantial sock, like Thorlos, and you will be fine. Please, Nike, do not stop making this shoe, and make it in RED next time. Or, Purple!
Comments: Quite uncomfortable shoes, difficult to play with. Bruised my ankle while playing it.
Comments: Not very comfortable at all.
Comments: Definitely takes a bit to get used to, very stiff to begin but is worth persevering with as they feel great once worn in. Only down side is that there sole wears out pretty quick and they have limited breathability. If you are after a shoe that feels glove like once worn in then these are great, I have them tied right to the top and never have any foot movement inside the shoe. While the sole wears out fairly quick it does seem to be fairly soft rubber and allows me to slide even on hardcourt which I love.
Comments: Don't like the initial stiffness of the shoe, but once they break in they're fine. Good support. Here's the BEST part though. Playing on hard courts in Barricades I suffering flare-up of patellar tendinitis. In the Vapor VI, my knees feel 200% better. I also feel a half-step faster and nimbler. Durability of the shoe may be an issue. But durability of the knees is much better in the Vapors than in the Barricades. (I'm 49 yrs old, so the durability of the knees is a bigger issue for me at this point.)
Comments: I tried on these shoes and instantly hated them. They were narrow compared to other Nike shoes that fit me well. I currently have the cage II. These felt like I was putting a piece of Tupperware on my foot. Way too much plastic and not much room for breaking in to fit your foot and breatheability. I guess if they fit your shape of foot they might be ok, but not for me.
Comments: I bought these shoes a few weeks ago, the shoes are stiff in the beginning, but it is ok, nothing a tennis player can not overcome, upper materials are good, good stability and all, what surprised me the most is the low durability of the outsoles, I play mostly on red clay and already feel the shoes do not have enough grip because the profile looks already shallow. I have to say that if you are serious about your tennis and serious about your feet, stay with the Barricades.
Comments: This shoe feels great and is not as heavy as the Nadal shoe which makes it lighter and you can move well. Durability is great and feels very light. I'm 12 years old and I play tennis everyday for 2 hours and these shoes are great.
Comments: I love these shoes. They are so much more durable than the previous vapors.
The whole plastic outside of the shoe helps for no tears inside of the foot part of
the shoes. I drag and slide on hard court, so I always seem to burn out through the side of
the shoe before the bottoms. I have always gotten vapors, but these are definitely the best
yet, although the plastic is quite hard for about the first 6 hours you play in them. A little
pain for the first time wearing them, but if you stretch out the shoes by hand, I have found
from the 3 pairs of vapor VI I have had, makes for a much better initial feel. BUY THESE SHOES! THEY ROCK!
Comments: Once I put these on I felt like I could fly outta the store. These shoes have that
fast feel, very good on the balls of your feet...and then I moved laterally, somehow this
shoe thinks my heel is further back than it currently is. Side shuffles made my ankles hurt.
Once I took these shoes off my feet hurt. Needless to say if 5 minutes in a store does this to
my feet, I'm not going to risk finding out what 3+ hours on the court will feel like. Great
looking shoes, superior performance, but I don't think my feet were made for these shoes. I
was sad about it.
Comments: I very much agree on Craig from Huntsville. I do believe he is talking sense. As I
can tell from the previous V.5 I felt much move active on either lateral or dash-to-the-net
movement. The shoes encourage you to RUN. And I reckon this is the total point of having
both Vapor and Cage on the market, one is for those players who play flexible tennis, and
one for those heavy baseliners. As well for my feelings, the 6 is very supportive at the heel,
especially when doing the lateral movement, or saving some drop shorts, they will keep your
ankles stand, will not tend to break them. If you pay attention to Roger's games this year, he
uses lots of sliding shoes, even on hard court. that might be part of the reason. As for those
amateur players, let's just give some credits to the look, at least you can impress your
partners by the way the shoes appear to them
Comments: I have been reading many of the posts written here about the new Vapor VI's. While many of you who are complaining about the shoes stiffness right "out of the box", this exactly what any semi or pro level player wants from a shoe. As a professional tennis coach for many years a shoe with this level of support may not be for everyone who is not used to wrapping or bracing their ankles and or feet. Nor is it for players with fat feet of with a fair amount of supination or pronation. And more in likely those with very flat feet will not be as comfortable in this shoe as they would in maybe the 'Cage'.
This is a shoe for the well balanced tennis player. One who stays on their toes and possesses quick reflexes. Heavier players who stay flatfooted on the court and drag their feet will not like this shoe and will require a slightly softer and wider shoe.
The other element missing here is knowing how to break a shoe in..."Before you wear it"! With a shoe of this nature you need to flex (bend) the shoe and squeeze and pinch the toe box, sides and heel area. I do this with almost every pair of new shoe I play and teach in. Hopefully this will help those thinking of buying such a high performance shoe designed for a specific type of player!
Comments: Worst shoes I've ever worn in my life. I loved the Vapor V's and they were great. These are the worst ever. Full of blisters AKA Garbage.
Comments: I loved my white Vapor Vs and now I love the black Vapor VIs. No complaints about the breakthrough barely felt a thing. My new favorite tennis shoes!
Comments: I was wondering if anyone has an approximate time, in terms of months, of how long these shoes lasted. 'Cause in the past I've had problems with wearing through my shoes. I'm a toe dragger, so I'm especially worried about the toe area, which is where my shoes usually wear out.
Comments: These shoes are incredible. I have never worn Vapors before, but these shoes are AMAZING. The red and black version looks sweet, and plays even better that the looks. Get these shoes.
Comments: These shoes are perfect except for one thing: I blew through a pair in about 5 or 6 weeks. I love how they feel on my feet, but I would not use these unless I was getting them cheaply or I was sponsored by Nike.
Comments: Great shoes, a little stiff out of the box though. I just want to know, what does Fed really wear. C'mon nike, you can tell us.
Comments: Stiff out of the box, but after one day of playing, these shoes are very comfortable. I usually have sore feet after a match, but with these vapor VI's I never experience the soreness. These shoes are great. Plus they're the best-looking shoes on the market.
Comments: Can anybody answer why these don't have a warranty and Nadal's do. Comments: These have to be the stiffest most uncomfortable shoes out of the box I've ever worn in my life. I was quite sad because my vapor V's were pretty much perfect. Luckily, after about 5 hours of heavy use they became super comfortable and provided good support. Never had to break in a shoe before. In conclusion, if you are fine with the break in period, these are definitely great shoes.
Comments: I've been wearing Vapors for a few years now and always loved the fit of them. This latest version was a major disappointment. These shoes are much stiffer than previous versions and I'm not a fan of the plastic instead of leather. Unfortunately it looks like I need to find a new line of shoes.
Comments: These are my first pair of Nike Vapors and they are all I had hoped for and more! I must admit, I bought them purely for aesthetic reasons but they have turned out to be very comfortable right from the box as well as looking great. I have experienced none of the problems others have mentioned. Overall, I would recommend these shoes strongly to anyone with a bit of spare cash. I also strongly recommend my regular shoe, the Adidas Barricade.
Comments: For some reason with these, I can wear a 10 1/2 where as in the Ballistec I wear an 11. When I first played in them, I did notice some discomfort around my ankles due to the higher top. The next day I wore them and all I felt was comfort. They are a good shoe, and for me, they flex perfectly. My only real gripe is that they are HOT!!!!! I actually switched to my Ballistecs, not the best shoe for ventilation, to get some relief. That aside, Nike really has made a quality shoe and i will definitely buy these again.
Comments: They feel incredibly stiff and they hurt my ankles (they are swollen and full of blisters! Never had it before with a shoe) I'm switching immediately to the Ballistecs! Much better shoes!
Comments: I posted some pretty disparaging remarks about this shoe a few months ago. That may have been premature... I compared them unfavourably to ski boots on account of their stiffness. With hindsight, I was closer to the mark than I intended. Like my Lange race boots, with which I went through agony and a good deal of fitting modifications and use before they fit, the Vapor VIs have broken in and are moulded nicely to my feet. Unlike the Vapor Vs I do not get the impression that they will soften excessively and no longer provide sufficient torsional stability. While I'm not quite as light on my feet as with the Vapor Vs the added stability (without the clunkiness of something like the Barricades) is a welcome improvement. Nike are clearly onto something here - the stiffness out of the box clearly a manifestation of this - and have clearly not come up with the poorly designed shoe as I felt at the time. Yes I have a few red spots - but, so what?
Comments: I recommend jogging with them for 15 mins first to break in. then they are absolutely awesome. I think regardless of how good something looks, it needs to perform and this version does just that. It looks very nice, but it really performs well on court. good cushioning and comfortable fit. As others have mentioned the problem with ventilation, I played with them for a month now and it's been acceptable(didn't get overly hot).
So i went back to Tenniswarehouse.com and ordered 5 more pairs to stock up.
Comments: This shoe caused me so many problems. I do not have a bad ankles, but after
wearing these shoes for three hours on the court, my left ankle in particular was killing me. Now both on and off the court I have to wear an ankle sleeve. I especially do not recommend these shoes to people with bad ankles. Also, my old shoes, which are warn down to the nub, seem to have better traction than these shoes. When I have to stretch for a ball I slide two
feet and, by that point, the next ball may be behind me. These shoes aren't great for changing directions. All the old vapors (except Vapor IV) were hands down better than these shoes.
Comments: As a 3.0/3.5 tweener, I was looking to get into a shoe that would help me with
my foot speed and look great at the same time. The Vapor VI was the answer, it seemed. I picked up a pair of the black/silver Vapor VIs and have worn them for over a month. I hate to say it, but they're not for me. I've developed several nasty blisters on the upper side of my pinky toe from rubbing up on the side of the shoe. Too narrow in the toe box I'm assuming (my feet are not wide at all). Also, the lack of ventilation has driven me crazy! My feet are sopping with sweat when I finish playing for an hour or so. I think I'll invest into some Breathe Cage IIs for my next pair. Oh well. Great looking shoe if you don't mind poor ventilation and have narrow feet.
Comments: I bought this shoe for my birthday 8 days ago and I have a very wide foot, it fit perfectly and even though I have a flat foot the hump on the inside edge didn't bother me. Overall I love this shoe and I highly suggest it to other people.
Comments: I love the past generation Vapor. I hate the current version of this shoe. It felt like I was playing tennis in those traditional wooden dutch shoes that curve upward at the toe. These are uncomfortable and stiff and I've never actually gotten blisters on the tops of my toes until I wore these shoes. These are by far the best looking tennis shoes but unfortunately they are too uncomfortable.

Comments: I bought this on July 9,2009. I bought the Red/Black colorway. I have a flat foot, so I had a little pain in that area because of the arch. However, this problem dissipated a little bit later. I had the Vapor 5 mesh Black version from last year. I feel I sit up a little higher in the heel than in the 5's. But I like the stiffer material than my mesh vapor 5's because I feel a little more secure. I would say that this a very nice shoe and I feel it adds onto the Vapor legacy.
Comments: I just got this shoe and it is TIGHT!!:) Probably not the best if you have a really wide broad foot. I'm more of a medium / lean build head to toe and I absolutely love this shoe. It fits like a glove, and has great arch support. I got the read / black. Requires a little break in, but it looks so cool I can wear it out in Manhattan and it goes with a lot of my outfits, no joke. Definitely has a sturdier feel, it's a well supported shoe and you can feel it.
Comments: Very stiff until now, just got them a few weeks ago. There are some people
complaining about red or orange dots on the surface of the show, I don't know why they form, but I still don't see them on my pair.
Comments: What other reviewers have said about this shoe being narrow is true- it feels like it squeezes the foot. Not painful, but noticeably tighter than BFIIs or BCIIs. Haven't had a chance to test the "Fed-Wedge". Great shoe- and much playing is left before I can give a true review, but they definitely feel much different than my usual BF/BC series. Not bad cosmetics though- my wife thinks they're the best looking of my 10 pairs of shoes!
Comments: Outstanding midfoot grip, with just the right amount of room in the toebox. Light enough to feel quick on court. Great court grip. I love the shoe... except when it's hot out, at least 80 degrees F on court. The Big Issue is ventilation. There is zero ventilation with the Vapor 6. Flywire is a fancy name for plastic, and they do not breathe, period, despite the several small port holes drilled into the sides. Now that summer is here, I've got the blisters to prove it. The Vapor 6 feels like sopping sponges on your feet when it's hot out. If Nike would ventilate these, they'd be ideal.
Comments:The Vapor VI's were good. They were many times better than
the Barricade 5's but had less breathability. Vapor's had a normal
break-in period. These shoes make you feel like you have more energy
and confidence. The heel of the sole wore away rather quick after
about 5 hours of tennis. Black ones kind of look like formal leather
shoes...I RECOMMEND JUMP-ROPING IN THESE FOR A COUPLE MINUTES
Looks=8/10
Breathability=4/10
Comfort=9/10
Durability=8/10
Weight=9/10
Overall=8/10
Comments: Don't know why everyone is hating on the VI. I've worn them for a season and love them. Yes they are stiff out of the box, but once they are broken in they are amazing, and look terrific. I felt that the 5s wore awkward looking. Love the new shoes nike.
Comments: Nike, PLEASE BRING BACK THE VAPOR V's!!!!! The vapor VI just are too bulky. They are solid, but I can't move as fast and I feel stiff. The Vapor V's are the most athletic shoe I've ever worn and to be honest, are the best tennis shoe I have EVER purchased. I have to get different shoes now because I can't find anymore vapor V's and I am incredibly disappointed. I play college tennis and when I go to play tennis I don't care about how durable a shoe is unless it wears out in a ridiculous time period like a week or something. The 5's are good for 3 months of absolute 100% quality tennis. Yes, they don't have the best wear, but they are the best performance shoe ever created by any company. The vapor 6's are terrible and I am depressed that I have to switch shoes now. So, Nike, once again, PLEASE BRING BACK THE VAPOR V's!!!!
Comments: These shoes were great. They were stiff out of the box, but they really broke in. The only thing is that your feet start to hurt when you play for 3-4 hours. You feel like you have so much more speed, range and quickness. I have no idea what people say with the red dots because I have never gotten any.

Comments: Love the fit and feel of the VI (am a big fan of the Vapor V), but durability stinks. The VI is also too hot for summer play. Please bring back the V or make these with some ventilation.
Comments: When I first bought these shoes they were great light shoe and it was awesome. After two months my shoes started to get these red black and green spots. I tried washing them but it made it worse. Send the shoes back I did and I get a 120.00 credit to the store.
Comments: Not good overall. Only positives are the flashiness and the light weight. The shoe is too stiff and not breathable. Durability was awful - 2 months and I was done with these shoes. I lasted 6 months in the vapor 5's playing the same amount. I will be not buying these again the vapor 5's are much better.
Comments: The lightest performance shoe on the market. I'm a usta pro circuit player so I hit my shoes hard. I can glide around the court with ease. Not sure on the durability, though, they do look a little thin in areas can someone who has had this shoe for a while shed some light on the durability of them.
Comments: I bought the black version of the V6. It's definitely stiffer than V5, however, it's not a downside. The stiffness has a supportive feel to it. If it doesn't fit you out of the box, then trying to break them in will be painful, and these aren't for you. Overall I'm happy with my purchase.
Comments: At first the shoe is very stiff, and makes you think twice about buying them, but once you begin to break them in, they are some of the most comfortable shoes you will ever have. They maintain their sense of stability but also feel light and contour to your feet. I have owned previous models of the Vapor line and they are a little short on durability, but these have lasted me as long as any pair of the Vapors I have had.
Comments: No question, they're stiff out of the box. Wear them to work out or whatever for a week or two, and you'll be cool. The arches don't match up with my feet, but a high end replacement insole fixed everything. Let me say for all of the people whining about Ballistec weight and breathability, there are no such problems here. You feel so quick on the court with these shoes. I dunno where the red dot problem stands with the white versions, but my black ones are still looking sweet. Just give them a week or two and you'll get the payoff. I can't speak to durability yet, but I think they will be just a notch below the super high end maximum durability kicks, which is just fine for Vapors. Also, ignore that Roger is apparently using Vapor Vs. Whatever model he wears is a nothing like the actual shoes we commoners sport.
Comments: When I first wore this shoe, it feels higher on the heel and shock damping is better than previous vapor. But this shoe developed red spots on the front of the shoe and soon also developed black spots under the toe part of the shoe, these stains comes from the nylon lining underneath the plastic shell and cannot be cleaned, I consulted with Nike in Asia, they have recalled this shoe and pulled it from retail stores and will provide a full credit for the purchase price of the shoe.
Comments: This shoe was very stiff right out of the box and I constantly slammed my toes into the front when trying to stop quickly. Once I played in them a couple times for my high school team they loosened up. Good shoe overall. The back corner of the shoe starts splotching several different colors on both sides. Also, on hot days, the soles of the shoe become so hot they're almost unwearable. As a 4.0 player I would recommend this shoe if you have time to break them in and don't mind the splotches.
Comments: The shoe was stiff at first and continued to be stiff. The midsole was terrible and my right foot started hurting after 4hours with it.
Comments: These shoes are horrible... most uncomfortable tennis shoes I've ever worn. Though the design is pretty appealing, the color fades and red spots appear on the surface of the shoes. The shoes are nothing compared to its predecessors.
Comments: There is a reason Federer is still playing tournaments in the Nike Vapor V's. They were amazing shoes (especially the more flexible black mesh ones). Nike really ruined a great
thing with this latest version. The feel and quality just doesn't come close to the previous
versions.
Comments: I was nervous to buy the shoe at first because of the red dot problem. I found a solution that so far has worked for the past month of owning them. All I did was go purchase scotchguard from my local hardware store. I applied it generously inside each shoe and let it dry. At first the shoes were very uncomfortable but all they needed was adequate break- in time. I played in them 3-4 times before they were completely comfortable on my feet. Now I love them and could not be happier.
