Customer feedback
Comments: If these fit your feet, there's nothing else on the market that even comes close. The Vapor VI is roomier and not as comfortable. The Adidas Feather IV RG is totally different, too much room in the toe box, can't lace the thing tight enough, and when I do get them semi tight they leave sore red spots up and down the top of my foot, and they have no support for hard lateral movement. Nike, please bring back the Vapor Vs.
Comments: Best shoes made by nike, the vapor iv were good but these are amazing. Light, quick, easy to break in, flexible, not to mention the best looking black tennis shoes made by nike. They offer a great amount of support, I would recommend to anyone. I only had a problem with the durability and also getting them. They were sold out at one stage but I need another pair.
Comments: I've bought two pairs of the vapor V and I love them. The break-in time is minimal. Give them a few hours and they'll feel great. On the court they feel like they were made to move! Very quick and maneuverable. They look better in person as well!
Comments: These shoes look like golf shoes. You can probably play a match right out of the box. However, durability isn't its strong point
Comments: This shoe was great at the beginning, very light and great ability to change direction. Once I began to wear through the soles, IJ found that my feet began overheating to the point that I almost had to take them off even on days when it wasn't very hot. Great shoe but careful about the durability.
Comments: I had the IVs and loved them. Figured I would upgrade to the Vs. They felt much stiffer than the IVs. I took time to break them in, and the first doubles match I played I wound up with a stress fracture in the ball of my foot. I don't recommend these shoes to anyone who has issues in the balls of their feet
Comments: After reading numerous reviews that the Vapor VI lost the V's "glove-like feel" I ordered another pair of Vs. I absolutely love these shoes and am sad they will not be around much longer. For me there is a 1week break-in period; my feet measure exactly size 43/9.5 D width, but when I put the shoe on it feels very small in the toe-box at first (so much that I almost returned my first pair), this is entirely OK as after the break-in it fits like a glove. I've never had a shoe fit so good in my life. I use a Scholl's arch support to increase the arch. Very responsive, never rolled my ankle (and I do lots of lateral speed training drills). Super low to the court. They are quite style-ish too, I enjoy wearing them off the court with a pair of jeans. Nike, PLEASE don't discontinue these!
Comments: Great value but if you have wide feet, stay away from these. I played twice in
them a total of 4 hours and had blisters on both feet. I am going back to the Nike Max Breathe II.
Comments: Excellent shoe. These were very comfortable, they had good support. Overall, a very good shoe.
Comments: These shoes are probably the most comfortable shoe I've owned. No break-in time required. My only gripe about them is that after two weeks of playing in them 5 days a week, I have noticed the outsoles are wearing down.
Comments: Personally, I think the Vapor V is an improvement over the Vapor IVs. The shoe is a little less stiff and appears to have a bit more room for orthotics. Very classy looking shoe.
Comments: Great out of the box feel, and they're extremely light. They fit perfectly around your foot. I'll add more feedback after I play in them.
Comments: I have now used these and WOW!!! They are awesome!!!!! They have amazing lateral support and every other kind of support you could ask for in a tennis shoe, they did require kind of an extensive break-in, but once they are sufficiently broken in they are SO totally awesome!!!!!!
Comments: I just got these shoes today and they fit like no other tennis shoe on the market. I haven't used them yet but they have amazing lateral support and traction (or so it seems, I'm not sure what they're like to play in) and they look AMAZING. If you buy them online buy with confidence, they are slightly narrow and I normally wear a size 8.5 or in some cases a 9 and in this shoe I got a 9 and it fits like a glove. overall (at least so far) AWESOME shoe!!!
Comments: These black mesh versions of the Vapor V are very light. As light as my tired Asics Gel Resolution and lighter than the Vapor VI (!) I recently returned to Tennis Warehouse. They formed around my feet perfectly from toe to heel but the plastic upper with flywire technology was too stiff and pinched my forefoot during flex. The fit and flex of Vapor V is excellent. They are snug for my medium D width foot with normal arch. Comfort is up there so please don't stop making the Vapor Vs. I conclude by saying it's at a compelling price point of $90 a pair.
Comments:This is quite possibly the best shoe that I have ever had. I have had them for about a year and a half and they are still in great shape. They are very comfortable and also they have a great design and colors.
Comments: The primary problem with Nike shoes at present has nothing to do with aesthetics, comfort, or mechanics. There is no question that these shoes look fantastic, feel great, and are well-designed. I've played with the Air Vapor IV, V, and the Air Max Breath Cage II (which comes with a six-month warranty) and am a huge fan of all three shoes' style and comfort. No one on the market is as innovative as Nike when it comes to style, but the average player, such as myself, can't get by on style alone. A shoe's durability is its ultimate measure and this is particularly true when it comes to singles' players. If you play a lot of singles, are a baseliner and grind for every ball and are on a limited budget, this MAY not be the shoe for you. Just sayin... I've blown through three pairs in what I feel is an inordinate amount of time for the price tag and have resorted to playing in Adidas Barricades of late, which, despite being less attractive, undeniably offer greater stability and durability. The bottom line: Nike should either build a shoe geared for more durability or make them cheaper, so serious players can afford to accommodate their style jones. I'm not going back to the well--substance before style from here on out. One last thought: it has occurred to me that not many professionals signed with Nike--at least those whom I've seen playing on the Tennis Channel and ESPN--wear the Vapor series. I'm curious why. Maybe these shoes are geared more specifically for someone with the inimitable Federer's grace and precision. I'm afraid I'm not that guy and as a result I'll be playing in Barricades.
Comments:I love this shoe. Style is great. Durability is not as great. Stability is good. Traction is good. They are a little too narrow though. Other than that I think they are very good shoes.
Comments:Awesome shoe, great look with even greater playability. Good ventilation, and great all around feel on the court. Amazing support of the foot and will hold up for even the most dynamic players. Plus the black looks almost so good, you could wear it with dress pants.
Comments:These shoes are great right out of the box. Good breaking power with just enough cushioning. I used to have Adidas Barricade V and they gave me heel problems. I do question its durability as I began to slide on the court in 15 hours of playing. Does Nike make their shoes less durable or is it just me??
Comments: These shoes are the best. The only bad thing is the fit, it is a little too narrow but I have not seen Federer wear them.
Comments: Great Shoe! Almost no break-in time. I love the way the shoe fits my feet, it definitely makes for fun footwork. However, after wearing a pair for about one month, I have noticed that the highest lace hole on the outerside of the shoe has begun to rip toward the tongue, although it hasn't made its way very far yet. Maybe Nike should think about a metal lace hole!
Comments: I thought all the reviews are really good because the shoes are Roger Federer's shoes not really because of the shoes. But after I got it and tried it I changed my mind. The shoes are unbelievable. I have Adidas Barricade V as well, both are good shoes but most of the time I wanna play with this nike shoes because I feel lighter.
Comments: WOW, is the first thing that came to mind! Recently I purchased my first pair of Adidas Barricade V,and they were the most comfortable, stable shoes I had ever worn (Still might be!) I wrote that I was an Adidas guy now, but I couldn't help it. I liked the way these Nikes looked so much I had to buy them-so I did. These shoes are so worth it, I'm talking 2 or 3 times as comfortable as the Vapor IV. That dude was accurate in saying they are narrow, but if you have narrow feet they are amazing. The shoe hugs the top my foot so nice it feels like Nike made them for me(even with orthotic insole). Also the shoe feels like it rides lower to the ground, but that could just be me. The only negative is no guarantee, seriously what is wrong with Nike-be cool, huh! I would like to see some color schemes like the Breathe Cage, so get on that guys!
Comments: Narrow does not describe how small the width of these shoes fit. Worn once around the house and they made my feet hurt, and I do not have wide feet! These shoes are made for elves and are on their way back.
Comments: The best tennis shoe I've ever had. I recently bought a second pair.
Comments: Very comfortable and is amazingly light compared to my Adidas Barricades. Good ventilation and fits true to size.
Comments: This shoe is amazing, no break in required, super light and great traction. The style is very cool but not as durable. I highly suggest you not to buy these if you have wide feet, but otherwise these shoes are awesome.
Comments: I love these shoes. They have been great out of the box. The only problem is I have worn through the bottom of them in 2 months. Awesome shoe if you don't mind paying for it.
Comments: Just got mine yesterday and they are sweet! I got them in black, and they are by far the best looking shoe I've seen. I haven't played in them yet but they fit true to size and seem to have great ventilation. I'll add more feedback after I play on them for awhile for awhile.
Comments: I just got a pair to try and I can tell you they look and feel so nice. It wears like a glove, low to the ground, very good ankle support (better than IV version), traction is awesome on hard court. However, I noticed it squeaks just like the Cage II, cool inside as well. Overall a very nice game-day shoe because I'm not sure how long it lasts.
Comments: Because I wear a size 14-15 shoe, weight is something I usually don't worry about because all of my shoes are heavy. Not these. They are the lightest and most comfortable shoes I have ever used. I previously used the Nike Breathe Free shoes, and those were good, but would wear out quickly. I play 6-7 hours a day 5 days a week (during the sumer, which is now) and these shoes haven't given out on me yet. They have a perfectly snug fit and are very breathable. I love these shoes and will most likely use them until Nike comes out with a new one in this line. Not to mention that they are very stylish, if your worried about that.
Comments: These shoes are great. They fit true to size and are light on the court. These shoes were broken in within the first hour of playing. I'm loving the heat block technology.
Comments: These shoes were OK I've been wearing them for about a month, and they have started to slip and slide on the court. Also, I've never had this problem before, they started to stink. Maybe it's the Heatblock technology or lack of ventilation. Other than that, these shoes were very comfortable, and had a quick break-in period.
Comments: I've been wearing Adidas Barricades for the last 3 years, but decided I'd give these shoes a try. They are very comfortable and light; however, after the first 10 minutes, I twisted my ankle. I do not recommend these shoes for players who supinate or have wide feet. I think I'll go back to Barricades.
Comments: These shoes are very comfortable as soon as you put them on; they may feel heavy when you are holding them but they definitely feel light when you are wearing them.
Comments: I have worn the Vapor Speed, Vapor 3, Vapor IV, and now the Vapor V. My experience has been that the Vapor IV was a monumental improvement from the previous models, and the Vapor V is an improvement on the IV. This shoe is light but supportive and is very well cushioned. I found it to fit true to size. Great overall shoe.
Comments: I have this shoe and and am excited of its good looks and functional design.
Unfortunately I found problems. Left side of the sole shape of left shoe is different from the right shoe. The little toe side of the sole has negative V shape compared with right shoe, which is flat and smooth. Does anyone else have an asymmetric left and right shoes? I believe this is faulty manufacturing.
Comments: These are great. Those who feel these are stiff are not using any standard that makes sense. These shoes weigh 14.5 ounces yet offer comfort, support and stability and are great looking. I do agree that unlike most Nike shoes these run about a half size large. I wear a 10 1/2 usually, but a 10 was perfect in these. Great shoe.
Comments: The Vapor V is a step down from the previous model. I was a big fan of the IV, but these shoes lack the cushion, support and comfort of their predecessor. The new model is stiffer out of the box and digs into my heel. I develop severe foot pain after playing in these. I plan to buy several pairs of the IVs and hold and hope that Nike improves.
Comments: I tried a lot of this year's new models (Cage II, Barricade V, and most of last year's models too) and found that Nike has been the best this year, with this and the Cage II. These and the Cage II were about even for me, with this having a little more traction and just like they say, that low-to-the-ground feel, but I picked the Cage because they had the 6-month guarantee, and they were more comfortable, which is a plus if you're going to be walking around in your tennis shoes after you play. I'm thinking these probably are not very durable, as my Cages have already worn out before I would have expected. However, these are tremendous shoes; you definitely should try them on because they are awesome!
Comments: Incredible shoes. I was using the Asics Gel Challenger (very good shoes btw) before I switched to the Vapor V. The Vapor V fit perfectly right out of the box with no break-in time needed. The stability is great and it feels very light on the feet. I felt my movement around the court was noticeably better after playing in these. You won't move like Federer (no one can) but you'll feel like you can! Finally, the look and design of the Vapor V is just beautiful. The pics don't really do justice until you actually see them in person. Such a classy looking shoe.
Comments: Really good shoe. Good: Really form fitting, shaped to my foot after about two weeks play, pretty durable no tares yet. Bad: I felt that it was kind of heavy shoe, I think I would have rather bought the Air Rafa's
Comments: These are great shoes. My feet feel low and stable, and I get great traction. They're very comfortable right out of the box and still comfortable a month later. Some say "snug," but I think "form-fitting" is a better description. Back on TW.com today to pick up another pair.
Comments: This shoe does not feel stiff as some previous comments mention. To my surprise I broke them in in first hour of play, but I have to say they do not fit to size as the description says. I have to wear two pairs of socks with size 10, when my normal size is 10.5. What really impressed me right of the bat is how well these shoes respond to lateral movements. If you run down the ball this shoes stay so low to the ground and provide such an excellent side traction, that you will get into position without sacrificing the balance. This shoe squeaks more than any other shoe I have worn, but this is my first Nike, so perhaps it is normal for this brand. If youre used to wearing higher riding shoes before that allowed you to gain more clearance of the net, you will have to adjust for these ones. But for excellent balance and classy appearance look no further!
Comments: These shoes are very stiff and feel heavy.
Comments: I think in terms of the traction it is the exact same thing I bought a year ago. I'm sticking with the Babolat Propulse.
Comments: I have worn these shoes for more than 15 hours. They are so stiff. They are still not broken in. I twisted my knee in them during a tournament. In another tournament, I twisted my ankle. These expensive shoes are going into the Dumpster.
Comments: I am very picky when it comes to shoes; however, these are a fantastic pair. The Vapor IVs felt awful on my feet and the Air Breathes felt like I was walking with heels. It came down to the Vapor V and the Asics Gel Resolution. I picked the Vapors and haven't looked back since. If you are in the market for a new pair give these and the Asics a go.
Comments: Continuing upon the vapor heritage, Nikes zoom vapor v introduces a much better overall fit. I found that the shoe no longer fits smaller or narrower, and does not require any break in. Your feet will feel the same from the first time you wear these to the last, as the new heat block tech really prevents your feet from swelling in them. A very low to ground feel and a great shoe for anyone looking for more stability and speed in their game.
Comments: Very comfortable shoes right out of the box. No break in necessary. Snug around the midsole & roomy in the toe box, which I like. Good ventilation.
