Customer feedback
Comments: First off these shoes are not, I repeat are not for the competitive player who competes at a high level, or is exceedingly physical: Yes, the shoes are light, and court feel is quite nice. But why wouldn't it be? The stability of the shoe is surely not equal to the Fed Vapor VI's, which without question are the finest. This shoe is more like a "take down" of the VI's. If you compare the build quality of these vapors against those of the 6's, well there's no comparison. I wore these shoes for three sets yesterday, and about a week ago a vigorous hitting session. After the hitting session I felt a slight bit of tenderness in the knee. After playing sets yesterday, the tenderness recurred, I had slight discomfort in my back, and as well a bit of a tweak in one of my ankles. This morning my feet felt as if they had been beaten with a stick. These shoes, of which I own two pair, will be worn for work, or just styling around shopping for other shoes. Someone earlier, said: "If it ain't broke don't fix it". New does not necessarily mean better. There might be hope for the tour 9, we'll see. Meanwhile I'll stick with my reserve of old school models that work. And avoid the injuries to ankles, and heels that brought me to the Nike, and the Implosion 10 years ago.
Comments: Nike needs to bring back the VAPOR VI. That was the best tennis shoe in my
opinion. I currently play in the vapor VIII's and I find that I have to continually tighten the
shoe laces after every three games or so, and this is while wearing double socks! If nike
wants to continue to have my business for their tennis shoes, they should consider bringing
back some of their older designs...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Comments: This is the best shoe ever. Break-in is fast and easy except a little uncomfortable. But once these get going, wow! Buy these if you need new shoes.
Comments: What can I say, this is an amazing shoe. The lightweight feel on court is like you are walking on clouds. Traction and comfort is exceptional. One dislike would have to be durability! I had the Lunar 8's for 3 months now, traction is wearing thin and the inside of the back heel has been warn down with holes through the back. Overall, great shoe but durability is a concern.
Comments: If you have a wide foot at all, these shoes are not for you. I have had Nike Air Zoom shoes in the past with plenty of room in the toe box, and purchased these since they were advertised as a D width, and also claimed to have more room than other Nike's currently marketed. As soon as I got these I could not wear them, even with the laces as loose as possible. I have since ordered New Balance 1004s, which fit great.
Comments: No other shoe comes even close. The new lacing system is amazing. Comfort, good traction and agility are the best words to describe these shoes. I am a 5.0 player and throughout the last 10 years I pretty much tested most of the top notch tennis shoes out there and this model is my number one choice out of all. The only downside is that they don't come with a 6 months durability guarantee, but they are still worth the price tag even if the outsole only lasts me for about 30 playing days of very aggressive game and footwork. I had tennis shoes which lasted 5 days before my sock replaced the outsole. So, all in all, I think this model has a great durability for its weight.
Comments: These shoes are very nice shoes. They feel like pillows on my feet and fit
my wide feet perfectly! The only complaint I have is the uppers are stiff and slightly uncomfortable.
Comments: With this being my first tennis shoe I was extremely happy when I received it. At first, it seemed awkward due to the creaking sounds it made when walking. During my first tournament it wasn't that bad when running it was just that my foot wasn't used to running with such a shoe yet. Then after awhile when just wearing the shoe the upper material started to press on my big toe (maybe because of the way it creased). It wasn't painful but it started to just hurt a little. I was thinking of returning the shoe but I decided to give it a second chance. I fixed the way the shoe creased and started to somewhat break in the shoe. Now all is well. I recommend this shoe to players who have patience in tennis and can find to solve problems. The durability isn't that bad but only being said from being used in one tournament. Comfy and snug fit and bouncy when running.
Comments: I love these shoes. They are light, comfortable, and good looking. I also bought the adidas Barricade Murray's and I have to say, I sacrificed all of the above for durability. I couldn't run down as many balls as I would like with the Barricade's. I would say buy these Vapor's for tournaments and use Barricade's for practices for it comes with a 6-month warranty.
Comments: These shoes feel very cushioned. It feels good to wiggle my toes. They're really light too.
Comments: I found this shoe uncomfortable when flexing my foot. The upper material painfully digs on forefoot; the synthetic material is too stiff.
Comments: The best, best, best tennis shoe ever made. They are so comfortable
right out of box, light and quick on the court, more durable than the
last version, and surprisingly easy to clean. I can't imagine how Nike can
make the next version better.
Comments: This shoe was so uncomfortable. Where the shoe breaks dug right into the top of my foot. I never made it onto the court with these sneakers as they were painful to wear. I boxed them up and sent it right back to Tennis Warehouse.
Comments: These are great shoes! I came from the Barricade's and I enjoy running in the Vapor's a lot more. I'm usually a size 8.5 in other Nike tennis shoes but went down half a size which made the Vapor's fit my feet like a glove, but not too constricting. There is great traction, support, and comfort. I got the Black/Red colorway which looks even better in person! Overall, a great shoe.
Comments: This is an awesome shoe. There is no break-in time required whether or not the shoe is on the bigger side. This is a great shoe but too expensive for me.
Comments: This is high quality shoe. They are very comfortable. My feet are wide and it fits my feet well. This shoe is a must buy for anyone who enjoys tennis. I found these shoes much better than the Air Court Ballistic 1.3 and 2.3.
Comments: I have wide feet and these shoes fit pretty well. They are a bit tight on the sides and they are comfortable. There is high levels of support. They look great too.
Comments: This is a fantastic shoe. There is high amounts of support plus they are extremely light and very comfortable. Also, they look good too. A must buy!
Comments: The 8's look great and feel great right out of the box, but performance
drops each time you wear them. The bottoms wear down fast, and the forefoot
uppers offer minimal stability. They get too flexible and give very little lateral support. I would recommend checking out the new Zoom Breathe 2K11 instead. It's a solid, light, supportive shoe.
Comments: I absolutely love the Vapor 8's. They have superb comfort for a lightweight
shoe and perform very well on all surfaces. I love that they are slightly wider than the Nike Court Ballistec 3.3's and also have had excellent durability too.
Comments: Horrible shoes. They're just slightly altered versions of the Lunar Vapor 7's from last year. That krinkly, brittle upper material is a thinner, less excellent version than what was used on the Zoom Vapor VI's from two years ago. Vapor 6's are still the best, from style to performance.
Comments: This is an awesome shoe. I've been wearing the Ballistec 3.3's and these are so much lighter and more cushioned. I didn't need any break in at all, and I got good traction. As for durability, I can't say anything yet because I've only worn them for one tournament, but I do know that I will only be wearing them for tournaments, not practice. These shoes aren't made to last, they're made for comfort and performance, so if you want to avoid wasting a lot of money, just use them for competitive matches.
Comments: Love the way these shoes feel straight out of the box; light weight and fast. But Nike, PLEASE give the shoes better traction! I don't want to be sliding on hard courts like it is clay. I need a shoe that will grip the court and allow me to turn on a dime. Add a little more rubber to the outsole. You might sacrifice durability, but this is a competition shoe. Performance is paramount!
Comments: I like these shoes but they are a little too narrow for me. I have slightly wide feet, but not real wide and these shoes still pinch my feet. They don't really stretch out like leather either. So I don't think I will get a second pair. They do look nice and are by far the lightest tennis shoes I have ever worn.
Comments: This shoe is very comfortable and has fairly good breath ability, however the outsole wore out within 2 weeks of purchase. I play 4 hours a day, 5 days a week at a high level and this shoe was a huge disappointment and a waste of money. I highly recommend not buying these shoes.
Comments: This is an amazing shoe. I love everything about it. At the beginning, it gave me one small blister during break-in. But after that, it was perfect. I would rate this shoe an 8 out of 10.
Comments: These are very nice shoes. They're light-weight and comfortable. Unfortunately, the outsole wears out too quickly. I play 3 hours a week, and got a hole in the sole after 2 months. Great shoe, but bad value for money.
Comments: After falling in love with the Flywire technology by Nike on the Kobe's and on their Lunar Glide 2's, it was basically a given that I would buy the Lunar Vapor when I needed new tennis shoes. They were given to me as a gift and the original size I received were perfect except when the shoe flexed the material dug into my foot, so I got a half size bigger. When I first wore them on the court my feet started hurting as they were too stiff and just didn't feel right. I wore them around everywhere to really break them in. After a couple weeks of breaking them in I took them back out to the courts and they felt completely different! They felt extremely light and were easy to move around in. The shoes are very durable and not to mention an awesome looking shoe. The only qualm I had with it other than the break in was that it feels there's a little thing on the sole where its hard to feel the court.
Comments: This is a good shoe but not nearly as stable or has the quality in materials that the Vapor 6's used to have. They are still better than the Lunar Vapors though. Good going Nike!
Comments: This is very comfortable, light, and fits extremely well. But like someone else has mentioned, they wear through very fast. I play two to three times a week, and I've worn through these after a little over a month. Like I said, they are an extremely good shoe, but they wear through way to fast.
Comments: Unless you have wide feet do not get these shoes. They are very wide all around and do not offer much arch support. On the plus side though they are very light weight and maneuverable. Not the most durable shoe ever but they are holding up.
Comments: Very nice shoe, great out of the box feel. Just played a tournament in these shoes and they held up pretty well. I slipped a few times but other than that these shoes we're prefect all around.
Comments: Worst tennis runners I've ever bought. Not comfortable at all. When are companies going to put some real cushioning in their shoes? And the rubber on the tongue rubs the laces and makes a creaking sound with every step like I'm walking on creaking floorboards. How do I get my money back? Poor design Nike and all the blingy space-age shiny outer can't make up for that! Adidas here I come!
Comments: I like these shoes and the fit. I am not happy with the fact that they wear out too quickly! I play 2-3 times a week and I have had them for about 5 weeks. I am
just now wearing into the insole......not good. I don't drag my toe much but 5 weeks for a pair of shoes at $120 is a bit ridiculous. I didn't buy the new Court Ballistec shoes because they didn't fit my foot well, but I will definitely be shopping for a shoe with the 6 month guarantee. I knew that they wouldn't wear as well as the Ballistecs but I never figured 5 weeks. They were just getting comfortable!
Comments: YES! finally Nike got it right. The width is finally the correct medium width. Hooray! now I can finally wear these. So much more supple and softer than the previous versions. Fits like a glove perfectly but has very little arch support. So I bought some Spenco total support insoles and that helped out a great deal. I'm still not going to make the switch from my Barricade 5's but these I can wear when I play doubles just to switch it up a bit.
Comments: This shoe is more for the masses. These do not provide the support of the earlier V's and VI's which Federer still uses. Oh how I wish Nike would bring those back (firm fit and support for people who actually play at a high level regularly). These are lame at best in comparison.
Comments: I have wide feet and was happy to find a shoe that fit. However, these shoes lack stability and my feet tend to "wobble" in them. Definitely nothing compared my previous NB 1004 or even my 800s. I had a pair of Nike Court Ballistecs but the inner lace came out after 2 outings on court. Probably my last pair of shoes I get from Nike.
Comments: Good to go out of the box, but BRING BACK THE VAPOR VI that was the best Vapor in my book, the break in period is worth it. I found that after the first 3 or so wears it just became too loose for my taste.
Comments: Do not buy!! At first it took a little while to break it in. It's a pretty wide shoe and quite a bit of movement, but after breaking them in I could lace them tighter and loved the feel, grip, and weight. However, 4 months into using the shoe the side ripped just above the sole, 3" on one side 6" on another. Sent to Nike at my expense, only to receive it back and rejected. Soles are fine and wearing normally, but they won't cover the rest of the shoe. Never again, am I buying Nike! Disappointed, thought I had found a great shoe.
Comments: I have to agree with Eric and Anon on this one. While the Vapor 8 initially does offer great comfort and increases your foot speed around the court - especially compared to
the CB 3.3, the shoe is simply not very stable and (like Eric) I found the they induce back and
knee strain. Nike needs either a more stable Vapor 8 or a lighter more comfortable CB 3.3.
Comments: As a devout Barricade wearer [I have worn them from the second model, all the way to the sixth and current] all I can say is WOW! I was looking for a lighter shoe, god knows Barricades are like wearing bricks on your feet, and I found them! The largest quibble I have about Barricades is the [what seems] extensive break-in period... Not so with Lunar Vapors! They felt fantastic out of the box. I did notice that they were a bit thin as far as width of the foot goes, but I do not have wide feet. I have only played two sets with these shoes so far, but as far as I can tell they are fantastic.
Comments: Although this is different from RF's actual shoes, the lightness of these really helped me to always get my steps set up right. The structural protection all around is poor and be advised that you will need extra caution when playing with it.
Comments: I agree with Anon, 5/11 that the Vapor VI was the best vapor line. It does take a little break in but, as all of us who have taken the time and patience know, once it's broken-in it's the best shoe ever. Nike just refuses to listen to its customers and re-introduce it for those of us who fell in love with that model. The heel support (air unit removed) in the two newest Lunarlon models have been so mushy and soft that they are unplayable because they induce back and knee strain. They keep making the VI for Fed but he's not the only one who liked it (he's wearing them again just like last year) So...loud and clear NIKE! BRING BACK THE VAPOR TOUR VI PLEASE! There are people who would buy 4 or 5 pairs at once just to have a back stock of them.
Comments: I also got a half size too big, but it is more a mental problem
than anything. I am usually a 10.5, and I got a 10.5, but I should have
gotten a 10. You should get a half size smaller than you usually wear
with these shoes. I played a tournament in them right out of the box,
and they were great!
Comments: Best shoes I've ever worn on my feet! I cannot believe the comfort! I feel fast, and the low feel gives me a better feeling of where I am on the court.
Comments: At first, the feeling was great it fit snug and comfy. However, when I took few steps, the left shoe started to cut into my big toe, right where the leather bends. After few minutes, I had to take the shoes off, since I am sure I would develop blisters...well so much for Nike Lunar Vapor 8.
Comments: This shoe is super light and real quick on the court. It feels like you have socks on with a lunarlon cushion. I've had BF2's, BF2k10s, Air Max Breathe Cages, Ballistecs, several Barricade versions, Featherlites, Diadoras, but the Lunar Vapor 8 is a superior shoe. This is an excellent combo of comfort, weight, looks, and functionality. It's a great shoe on and off the court.
Comments: I first owned the Vapor VI with the gold and white colorway. Right out of the box, I could tell that this pair wasn't going to like me. There was little give in the plastic upper, the sole was just not flexible enough and, understandably, I began to hate it back. But after spending some time on and off the courts with it, it softens up to you; and in turn, you begin to soften up to it. Before you know it, the two of you fall in love and become inseparable. After a few glorious months, however, you discover that the Vapor VI has been diagnosed with poor outsole durability (which apparently runs in its family). Eventually your partner dies away, and the tragic love story comes to an end. And to add pain to the misery, each update that has come out thus far has done a poor job of replacing the Vapor VI. I'm not saying the Lunar Vapor 8 is a bad shoe, in actuality it is a definite improvement over its immediate predecessor. All I'm saying is that I just haven't fallen in love with it.
Comments: Used Barricade V for a few years but got disappointed by the newer model (VI) - it was too narrow. I didn't like CourtBallistec 3.3 - they felt solid (just like Barricade V), but looked plain ugly and were too narrow in the toe box. Then I discovered the Lunar Vapors and immediately fell in love. They are lightweight, soft with no break-in period whatsoever. They're very roomy in the toes, and they look good enough to use outside the court. I occasionally miss that solid, heavy, boxy, springy feel of Barricade, but these shoes are just as good overall. Let's see how durable they are (I have my doubts regarding durability of soft shoes).
Comments: Great Nike Vapor Tour. It's lightweight. I wore them right out the box to the tennis courts. It has nice arch support and a low profile. I have Air Zoom Vapor Tour also, comfortable through out the shoes.
Comments: I love these shoes. Comfortable right out of the box and super fast, and they look great. Thanks, Nike.
Comments: I really like these shoes. They are comfortable out of the box. They have a sleek style and are very light. Surprisingly stable for being so light. I love the cushion they provide. Curious to see how the sole holds up. I haven't worn any of the other Vapor line so I can't compare. I am transitioning to these from my last pair of Barricade Vs. I tried the Barricade 6s but they were not for me. Give these a try!
Comments: Very Nice pair of shoes. Nike upped the ante making these. The Lunarlon extends throughout the shoe. They are comfortable right out of the box. I have a Pair of Nike Air Zoom Vapor 6 Tour also, and I find after more than a half of year and many matches, there is very little wear. The toe area is worn a little and should be on the Air Zoom. My new Nike Lunar Vapor 8 Tours look and feel great.
Comments: Super light ans super fast! My only trouble is that I am struggling with the lacing system. Since the first wear, I was just not able to find the right tension. It is either too tight, putting pressure on the ligaments, or too loose and I'm not stable enough in them.
Comments: Upon getting the new Lunar Vapor 8 Tours, I felt like I had made a huge mistake by getting a half size too big (this can constantly bother me mentally). However, after I gave them about 3 weeks to break in (with my special orthotic inserts), I feel like they are an extension of my foot. These are amazing shoes that have a great "toe box" that don't smash my toes/toenails when running around the court. Worth getting.
Comments: For some inexplicable reason, after playing with these shoes for a few days I developed a large bruise on the first joint of my left big toe, that went away as soon as I switched back to my Breathe 2K10s. Not sure why, but other than this the shoes are great! The only issue I've had other than the bruise was a lack of breathability.
Comments: A quality shoe. It has great support on the bottom of your heel and is very light. It would be good if they brought out a herringbone grip for clay or grass.
Comments: Just got my first pair and I really like them.
I feel like they're a little narrower than the Vapor VII, in part due to the sock inside the shoe but people with wide feet would have a nice snug fit. It's a little higher as well.
Comments: Look really cool, really light but not comfortable... overall, not really loving it, think I'm gonna get the breathe or court ballistic.
Comments: Loved these out of the box, beautiful traction, support spot on, and cushioning was all right. After initial break in, which was 2 minutes (?), everything performed better than my previous tennis shoes. However durability is not one of these shoes strong points, I've worn these for a good 2-3 months and the toe traction is worn down to the bone, and the flywire is starting to tear out. Now I'm starting to get ankle pains and harsh landings are starting to hurt A LOT. Overall I think these shoes are great overall but after they start to show signs of weakening anywhere is when the performance goes down the drains.
Comments: Very comfortable, takes some getting used to and it simply is just a great shoe! Great Job Nike!
Comments: The best Vapor shoes ever! Light, comfortable and looks durable so far.
Comments: Well I may be the lone dissenter here but I hate this version and miss the old one. First the fit is a bit sloppy. I feel like my foot sloshes around a bit in it, not the most stable shoe. Also the construction and materials are really cheap looking and feeling. The last version was bullet proof and the construction was amazing. Finally the lunarlite - although it's amazing in weight, was lousy in cushioning and hurt my feet. Even just walking around in them casually my feet would hurt after 60 min of standing and being on my feet. Too bad - I guess you can't always make a great shoe although I feel Nike usually does.
Comments: Any good clay court shoes you guys approve. I don't play much on hard courts because in South America it's all clay.
Comments: Love them, I played 8 hrs in one day and no pain at all. I have wide feet so these shoes are a bonus for me. Very comfortable with lots of support. When will TW review these?
Comments: These are great shoes. I used to use the adidas barricade team but I decided to switch to Nike. I loved them right out of the box. It is amazing how much faster you feel when in these shoes. I play most every day and the soles are O.K. There are definitely shoes that will last longer but they will not be the quality that these are. Definitely worth the money and they were delivered so fast. Favorite shoes that I have owned. Overall rating is 9.5 of 10 because of the soles.
Comments: I have had at least 3 pairs a year, and over the last 20 years of grinding it out on hard courts daily, I have NEVER been so impressed with Nike as I have with this model. I never enjoyed playing in their previous trainers so I switched to Reebok. When I saw a yellow pair with Rogers initials on the back, I thought why not, if I don't like it on the court I will wear it socially. Since I have worn it on day 1, it has made the feel of my game so much more rhythmic as I move effortlessly around the court. I definitely will buy this series of Rogers trainers. If Nike makes it for him, its got to be the best, he is the best. Well done Nike, finally a classic, soft, very comfortable tennis shoe.
Comments: This is the lightest shoe I have ever tried out. I've had this shoe for about 2 months now and the traction is great and the fit is even better. I have more of a narrow foot but somehow this shoe fits and is very comfortable. One thing that annoyed me was that the shoe would keep making squeaky noises. Other than that, it's a great shoe. I might buy another :D
Comments: These shoes are really light, the traction is good and the air cushioning generous and comfortable, but man the leather on the forefoot is ridiculously rigid! The first time I wore them for a match the flexibility of the forefoot made me worry and caused me some annoyance, I have worn them on the court and off the court for a few days hoping for the leather to become softer but no way, the right shoe started to hurt every step I took. Impossible to play a match when one of the shoes hurts the joint of the big toe so much. I wonder, Nike has been manufacturing sport shoes for the last 6 decades, is this pair of vapor the result of their experience? Wow. I will wait 60 more years before buying another pair then.
Comments:Wide in the toe box? I did not experience this. They are about the same as the first Vapors, which I was wearing when I tore my toe and triggered Morton's Neuroma. Great shoe; too narrow for me. Back they go...
Comments: I love how sleek the Vapor 8 are, that's why I keeping coming back to them. This is one of the lightest shoes I believe I have ever played tennis in. And yes they have made them a lot wider than in the past. But I fixed that problem by just adding another insole inside of the shoe. I like a really snug tennis shoe but with that said, this is a great shoe but if your looking for a long lasting shoe look somewhere else.
Comments: I have tried Wilson, Head, Adidas, New Balance and Lotto shoes. This shoe more than any other protects my ankles. I have been wearing them since early last year and have experienced zero ankle problems. In the past I tweaked my ankles a few times a month when playing daily.
Comments: Switched from the CB 2.3 to these and could not be happier. These are much roomier in the toe-box (which is a huge plus), and are much lighter. I cannot see any reason to buy any other line of Nike shoe. Good work Nike.
Comments: I am an international student in California. I love this wide width fit because I have a wider foot than most. It is comfortable and it is fast!
Comments: Too roomy. Nike should build regular and wide width fit. Person with narrow or regular foot does fit this shoes, because the risk of injuries. Attention Nike.
Comments: These shoes are great. They are great for cutting and taking long steps! They are also very sleek and fresh!
Comments: I have had my pair for four days and played them twice. I must say that they are light, fast, and very supportive. I highly recommend them as they are an improvement over last year's model.
Comments: Best shoe I've ever owned. Amazing comfort and stability.
Comments: Past Prince T22 user, tried these for a change. Though I really thought Nike was more for a narrow foot, I was surprised at how well these fit. For the first hour on the court I wasn't sure I'd like them, then they broke in quite well. Fast shoe. Light. So far so good. I'm a 4.5 player.
Comments: Switched from Barricades to LV8s. Loved them!! Went straight to the courts to use them. They were very lightweight and comfortable. Have been playing in them for about a little over a week, and no foot pain.
Comments: Best shoes I've tried from Nike. As soon as you put them in you are ready to play on the court. Feels great, looks great and they are light. More colors please
Comments: Finally a Nike shoe that I cannot only wear comfortably but is FAST!! I own the Air Court Ballistic 2.3 and 1.3 and I never like either one of them. The Vapor 8 is true to size and it is wider making it a comfortable feel and not like your feet are squeezed into the shoe. The shoe is lower to the ground, soft, extremely comfortable on the heel, and extremely light making it a fast shoe. No break in was required and my feet felt fast and fresh after playing for almost two hours on hard courts. This is my new favorite shoe and a true keeper. The colors are always conservative and wished they had more aggressive colors.
