Nike Air Zoom Trainer White/Red Men's Shoe Customer feedback
Comments: These shoes are just OKAY. If you play hard, these are not the shoes for you. I
still have a pair of half worn, original air trainers in my closet and while they fit better, the
soles and toe of the new version have lasted much longer already. The velcro strap on the old
model was more robust and the velcro was thicker and felt more stable. The newer model
does not have the support of the originals, but hey, they look great and bring back the days
of denim shorts and Agassi's monster forehand when it was a novelty in 1988!
Comments: Mixed feeling with this tennis shoe. As a positive, the shoe provides a good support to your ankles. On a negative side, the sole wears out really quickly, as most of the Nike's tennis shoes, but this specific model even broke above the velcro.
Comments: I disagree about the assessment that they are a "true fit." I bought a pair of size 13, and could tell they were too small before I even took them out of the box. And they don't make a 13.5 ...
Comments: I bought these shoes out of nostalgia and thinking that I would only wear them as casual, rather than athletic, shoes. However, they perform very well on the tennis court, and have replaced my K-Swiss Ultrascendors for the time being (the Nikes are a little more roomy in the toe box, while still fitting snuggly everywhere else). The soles are fine as well -- I wear them primarily on hard court and yet they seem to be holding up relatively well. I highly recommend these shoes.
Comments: These are the best shoes I've ever owned. I've been through like 9 pairs of them in the past 7 months. They wear out rather quickly but make great off court shoes when your done with
them....
Comments: They are stiff around the ankle until broken in. I had some problems with traction on the hard courts I play on. When doing agility exercises on the court, sometimes it would take an extra step to get to a spot due to sliding when stopping and starting quickly.
Comments: This is a very poor re-creation of the original Air Trainer that Agassi and Mac wore 20 years ago, that I wore back in the day and loved! The leather uppers on the original were soft and glove like, these reproductions are very plastic, stiff, and cheap feeling and looking. Very disappointed, will be sending back.
Comments: I like these shoes. Great fit for me. I need a narrow fit in heel and wide fit in toe box, and these are just perfect. The only complaint I have is the cushioning could be better, but I kind of expected that from a light weight shoe. I will buy some sport insoles and they should be fine,in fact I'm going to order two more pair today.
Comments: I originally purchased these as casual shoes and had no intention of wearing them on the court. After wearing them to practice a few times, I realized that these are terrific shoes. I just received my second pair, black ones this time. Great cushioning, light with a low ride (that defies the old school look), roomy forefoot and a snug heel fit with no slippage. Oh, will work on clay as well as hard courts -- the black colorway should hide the clay reside, too.
Comments: These shoes are pretty awesome...everything except the 5/8 height. I am sure with a bit more break in they will be fine, but they seem to hit me in just the wrong spot making thick crew socks a must.
Comments: Excellent shoe! A better tennis offering than the original. A few years back, I found a reissue of the light gray/dark gray low cut model. I was disappointed that the shoe just didn't feel like the one I remembered from the late '80s and had very little stability and cushioning. I put some replacement insoles in the recently released model and the result is a nice high-cut, well-cushioned, stable, lightweight, low-to-the-ground ride. My only criticism would be that you need a week or two to break in the shoe so that the high-cut portion stops digging into your ankle. Oh, and the cosmetics of the old one were slightly nicer. That said, I think this is even better than the Nike Vapor if you want a lightweight low ride.
Comments: Buy 1/2 size up. They run a bit short. They start off a bit stiff (especially around the ankle), which was uncomfortable, but have broken in nicely. As a hard court player that wears through toes quickly, these soles seem quite durable to me.
Comments: I just got these shoes a few minutes ago. I've been wearing them for about 20mins now and I'm already starting to feel pain at the heel of my foot. It might just be that I have to break the shoes in, hopefully it'll be different on the court.
Comments: I feel like I had bricks on my feet when wearing these shoes. Loved the originals in the 90's, even though the soles wore quickly, you couldn't ask for more comfort...the new ones are bulky and inflexible! And they fit way too snug around the mid-foot.
Comments: This is the best, old school tennis shoe!
Comments: As I had serious injuries with my ankle, normally I used to play tennis in basketball shoes using also ankle braces. Now this is the first time ever I found that Nike produced medium high shoes for tennis that fit well, safe and comfortable. After playing with this shoes for last ten days I did not have any difficulties at all. Shoes are very light and your feet look very small, so that I do not look like a girl playing in men's shoes. Highly recommended for players having problems with ankle - of course, still be careful with the structure of your foot, as the comfort of this shoe can vary on the back of your leg (as always). My feet are quite narrow, what is probably the reason why I do not have problems. Retro-look of this shoes looks actually quite cute on the court.
Comments: As others have stated, I had several pairs of the original version of these shoes. The new version looks like the originals, but the construction of them is completely different. It's good to see Nike making a 3/4 top tennis shoe again. I just wish they would bring back some of the great shoes from the Agassi era, like the Air Flare & my favorite - the Air Zoom Challenge Court.
Comments: I had worn these in 1986/1987 as a sponsored player for Nike. The shoes were great but did not last more than three weeks before I was asking for replacements.
I bought two pairs of the new ones and noticed a few things. First, the fit was a little tighter around the mid-foot. Second, the durability with the new sole is on par with a typical Nike tennis shoe.
If you think these are the same as the old ones, you are wrong, they are better.
Comments: These shoes look great and they also have nice feel on the court. The downfall was that, for the first week of using them, the back of the shoes keep on rubbing against Fibula (back of your leg vertically.) You should use long shoes or it might cause pain on the court. My leg actually bled using it during the first week.
Comments: I just bought a pair and saw that it doesn't look that durable. I play very hard on my shoes and drag them a lot. These are a little flashier then durable.
Comments: I agree that the original shoe was great - light but very good fit and support. It was also the quickest to wear a hole in the toe. I bought a pair of the new model and the fit feels similar although nothing is ever quite as good as the original, right? I am hoping the new technology Nike uses to make the soles more durable will make up for the slightly awkward lacing system. So far though I am very pleased to have that nice leather mid rise feel and support.
Comments: I had a couple pairs of these shoes a few years back. From what I remember, they were very light, very comfortable. However, they did seem to wear down quickly. If you're looking for sole durability, this may not be a great option.
Comments: The shoes rule! Fit and feel like the original Air Trainer High that McEnroe wore.
