Comments: Overall a light and breathable shoes but very weak support when you move and stop around the court. Not recommended for tennis.
Use it to jog instead.

Comments: Shoe feels pretty light on my foot, but it was too narrow on the front of my foot. I will say the shoe has lasted pretty well compared to others I have owned, but almost every time I play, the 2 middle toes on my left foot (my stop and start foot) hurt and have turned blue several times after long matches. The insert top cloth layer also came off after a couple months. As other reviewers mentioned, not much cushion either.

Comments: I was disappointed. The left shoe was far too snug in width even though I've worn other New Balance in that width comfortably. There seemed to be a quality control problem.

Comments: I got 3 black aching toes wearing the shoe despite wearing two layers of socks.

Comments: I was very happy with this shoe. The cushioning is a bit thin in the sole, but when laced properly, the support and stability is very good. The are a bit heavy, but have remained durable. If you pick a size too large, the shoe feels too wide in the toe area and you will slide around inside the shoe, as some reviewers comment. Advice-Pick the right size and you will be very happy!

Comments: I am very happy with the New Balance 1002. Previously, wore the NB 544 model that fit perfectly but wore through the sole, and the outside upper/sole separated on both shoes (used gorilla glue to extend the life). I am currently using the NB 1002 (544 replacement) that also fits perfectly, and after two hard sessions (4 hours) on a gritty hardcourt, they performed well and show very little sign of wear. New Balance bolstered the outer sides to prevent the separation that occurred in the NB 544 model.

Comments: I did not like this model. It felt like I was playing with two blocks of wood on my feet. No cushioning to speak of (and I have two bad knees). I'll try to play with some gel insoles the next time. The 11.5 wide shoes I usually wear felt too big in this model. Too much width in the forefoot. If you want comfort and playability, buy yourself a pair of Yonex SHT-305s. Your feet will thank you for it. TW didn't have my size, so I went with these instead. These are not a complete waste, though. These NB's are cool looking kicks for regular wear off the court :-)

Comments: I love the shoe. It's much better than my previous adidas a3 Prevail.
It was a perfect fit, and my toes are feeling much more comfortable as a result.

Comments: Yikes! What was the shoe designer thinking? Not only was it unstable, but there was a bulky, hard, inside seam that met the top of my toes. It was impossible to simply walk without pain, much less run around the tennis court.

Comments: The 1002 are really quite different in feel and wear from the 1001. First off, it's a wider shoe in all width sizes. I used to wear a size 12 4E in the 1001 but dropped down to 12 D in the 1002 because the 4E and even the 2E in the 1002 were too wide. I'm still disappointed in the sole wear. I play between 20 to 25 hours a week and go through one pair every 4 or five weeks before I get holes in the soles. Such an expensive shoe should be more durable.

Comments: From:I am a dirtballer that loved the 1001 NB but these shoes don’t have the same traction. I slipped a lot on the clay. I will be looking for different shoes.

Comments: The insole disintegrates ridiculously fast. While playing in these I feel like I'm a good 2 inches off the ground and the shoes don't seem to stay on my feet. As someone else mentioned, one's toes (at least mine and his) seem to collide with the toe box. Perhaps I got a size too big, but I got a half-size smaller than I usually get and the same size I got for the 1001's. All in all, I got these while on the tennis team, soon after had to buy new insoles, and after the season ended and I no longer had an obligation to wear the same shoes as others, I quickly abandoned them. They're still in pretty good condition because I took every opportunity to avoid wearing them.

Comments: These shoes felt comfortable at first but I developed problems with my calf muscles. The stiffness of
the sole led to my calf muscles getting very tight. When I went back to my 752 model, the problem disappeared. I would not
recommend the 1002 model.

Comments: Durable soles, very stable (minimizing pronation, for those who have problems with plantar fascitis),
mesh tops keeps feet cool. I like that they come in different sizes and widths. They could use a little more for arch support.

Comments: Coming from Nike Vapors, this shoe felt high and not as snug. However, comfort is all kinds of
awesome. Even without a break-in period (although I still recommend wearing these shoes around town for a day or two) these
shoes were begging to be taken on to the court. I would definitely give top marks to comfort and cushioning, although the toe
area did feel a little roomy. I’m surprised that no one has mentioned how breathable these shoes are. However, these shoes are
definitely a bit high up which takes away from the feel of the court. They are definitely more mushy than Vapors. The shoe is well
built and that is reflected by the durability. The tread is topnotch in terms of durability and grips extremely well. I would've liked
to see more synthetic leather used since mesh and stability don’t go hand in hand. However, the ventilation is awesome and New
Balance does a good job of stability. My only complaint would be the toe guard, which feels like it was added on at the last
second and the material is somewhat lacking. I would've much preferred to see it integrated with the front bumper. All in all,
definitely a great purchase, very comfortable and strikes an excellent balance between performance and comfort. Durability is a
mixed bag especially depending on how severe of a toe-dragger you are and your weight distribution.

Comments: Well, as the saying goes 1001 forward and 1002 backward. After progressing with New Balance over
the years at the rate of 4 or 5 pairs of shoes a year and enjoying their accomplishments, I am sorry to say they have bottomed out
with the 1002. I found them to be too mushy and very unstable. My foot moved so much that I stubbed my toe against the inside
wall of the shoe. My toenail has turned black and has fallen off. Not what one wants to be thinking about during a week of
competition. I guess I'll stay with the 1001 until the next new and improved comes along.

Comments: I seem to be a severe toe-dragger -- Like the some of NB's line-up that I've tried (802s, 820s, 1000s,
1001s), this shoe fared no better in durability. Matter of fact, my left shoe had my toes showing by the 6th week with the right
shoe not far behind. That said, the overall average for any of the models from NB that I've tried seem to be about a little over 2
months (averaging about 12-15 hrs/wk). Durability and wear aside, NB's shoes are still the most comfortable, hands down, with
no break-in period.

Comments: Comfortable and cushy--but too cushy for match play. The Absorb in the forefoot constantly mushes
around. Ever after a month, I've never felt like I had a stable, solid platform to hit from. The mesh uppers developed holes on the
inside by my big toe. I'm going back to Kswiss Ultrascendors.

both my backhand and serve. Great shoes if you are looking for stability and power on the court.

Comments: These shoes have excellent forefoot cushioning; much better than the nike breathe
