Comments: This is a very nice and fun racquet to play with. Power is good, but not great(could be my string set up. Hollow Core 16 @59Lbs.
I found it hard sometimes to hit deep shots on a consistent basis. On the plus side, you feel that you can freely swing away without fear of the ball going out. Because I'm a baseliner and I depend on deep penetrating shots, I may led the lead out by adding 6 grams of lead tape near the top of the head. This will make the racquet more stable, and increase the swingweight, thus making it a bit more powerful. Deep penetrating shots will be more easily attainable. Serving is totally cool with this one! Very consistent. One point I would like to make. Don't get caught up on the BLX hype. The BLX version of the (k)Pro Open is IDENTICAL in terms of the specs. The ONLY difference is the the BLX model has a swingweight of 318kg*sq.cm while this one is 307kg*sq.cm Add lead to the head and bingo there you go! Honestly I don't feel compelled to spend $180.00 for the BLX while you can get the (k)Pro Open for $139.00 as long as they are available. Go ahead and get this one. It will do great things for your tennis game!
Comments: You must string this one with a poly @ high tension *AS IN
HIGH*, also the one that do not lose tension quickly, because this has
lot of power than the older version; Maybe I'll switch to a player's
racket like 4d AG 200... pros n cons:
PROS:
-Spin is good
-Great racket for serving, either flat or slice/kick
-Improve your game as well
-Very Stable on Passing shot on the run. unlike the ncode version.
-nice stability on two and one handed backhand, but for one handed
backhand it gives better pace.
CONS:
-This racket is definitely s POWERHOUSE.
-Difficult to execute short angled balls, no matter how much spin you
put on the ball
-Slightly Unstable on Return of Serves
-Unstable on returning heavy balls, i mis-hit a lot, compared to my old
stick.
Comments: I wanted to get away from the O/S racquets and use a 100 head size stick. After checking out specs, I decided to try this one. I am really glad I chose this racquet. It is a dream to play with, comfortable with good power and control. All in all, a great racquet.
Comments: I just had a hit with this racquet today and am very impressed. I generated a perfect amount of power for my level of play and I was loving the spin. I had the hit with my friend and the returns I got off of his serve were amazing. One thing I adored about it was that I could simply crush soft returns right down to the baseline. What I didn't like was the weight. I am used to using heavier racquets and when I got a hard return, I struggled to return the ball back where I wanted it to go.
Overall, I think it's a great racquet for aggressive players who like to put a lot of spin and power behind their shots.
Comments: This was a nice racquet overall. The control off the ground was good. It felt like I could really swing out on the ball and it would stay in. The spin was nice, but nothing incredible. With this racquet I was able to hang behind the baseline and spin my shots in or step up and put the ball away with a hard flat shot. The only concern was that it felt a little light when faced with heavy hit shots. A must demo as a tweener racquet.
Comments: Nice easy racket to use. Light weight and midsize head makes it perfect for
training racket, which I use it for. However it is too light to handle serious heavy hitting, it'll
just take your control away. There is just not enough mass to give it stability, which also
make it perfect for net plays. It responds well to wither fast or easy swing, but to get the
most out of it you really have to provide the power. Would recommend it for those who
mostly plays double or not facing power hitters.
Comments: In the process of switching from my Babolat PD (nice racquet but too stiff - harsh on my wrist and elbow) I borrowed my brother's K-Pro open for a day in search of a replacement. The two racquets are worlds apart. I'm a baseliner who hits with a one-handed backhand. Firstly, the stock strings on the pro-open are rubbish - get it restrung straight away. Agree totally with the above comments that the feeling is very muted - you can rip into balls and hear that perfect impact but the feeling of the impact is very soft. The ball however flies with a lot of pace and spin. I found control to be good, better than PD though not a good as K-Six One 95 (18x20). Very arm friendly - this frame flexes nicely, anyone with injuries who happen to have fast, loopy swings should give it a try. I actually serve faster with this than the PD, probably as this is more maneuverable. Power of this frame is low (this one strung at mid range 58/60lbs) - you will want to keep racquet speed up however you will have the confidence to do so without worrying about your shots flying long. I love it but will demo my coach's K-Blade 98 tomorrow before making a decision.
Comments: Great racquet, very maneuverable for a more than eleven ounce racquet. You can produce an immense amount of spin and hit a heavy ball. Volleys were crisp and the spin potential gave you extra kick on your kick serve. Overall great racquet. My elbow did hurt after demoing it though. I don't know why. It had a good blend of power and control. Overall 9.5 out of 10.
Comments: First racquet I bought was close to the published specs, but second racquet I bought (not from TW) was actually 2.5pt HL strung, not 5pt HL strung. It's very disappointing because I liked the first racquet and the only reason to bought two is to have a spare.
Comments: BEST. RACQUET. FOR. SERVING. EVER. I was serving 90 m.p.h. it seemed; my official record before was 60. too much power off the baseline, though; wound up getting the pure storm.
Comments: This racquet is amazing. I demoed it only for a few hours. This racquet is
superb. One thing I don't like is that its too heavy. I would like a
lighter version, but its still very good.
Comments: For me the string of choice with this racquet is Wilson NXT Tour 16g not 17g at lower tension. Able to generate more spin with 16g. Nice feel and control, easy learning curve.
Comments: Just used once yesterday and found major improvements over the NPro Open, which I have used for 2 years. Feels more balanced, and definitely has more control/touch/feel. A lot of the differences described in the comments here are probably a consequence of stringing; the NPro Open is a completely different racquet through different string types and tensions, and the KPro Open is probably similar. I didn't have a grip issue, but I always use a Babolat overgrip.
Comments: This is basically a Babolat pure drive with a classy paint job and more control. Which is great! Can be powerful but Ive found great control with this. I'm trying to find the right strings for it now as the stock string lost tension very quickly.
Comments: I really enjoy the racquet, but it made my hand/thumb area became very sore. Never had this happen with a racquet. Not enough cushion in the grip?? Maybe it is just a flaw in the demo. I have demoed many racquets, hoping the Babolat Pure Drive w/cortex would work. Even though I am a control player, I could not develop consistency and pop with it. This K Factor KPro has good pop and weighting, good swing weight, and showed an immediate improvement in my serve. From just an average pace serve, the KFactor actually caused me have a bit of a weapon. I was working too hard with my old Bab.Pure Storm Team (too light, too much swing weight), so I want to increase my racquet weight, but decrease my swingweight, and go from even balance to HL. Feel good about the overall performance (consistency, pace, feel, etc.) of the Wilson. Have not finalized my decision, but leaning towards this racquet with an 1/8 smaller grip, adding cushioned wrap.
Comments: Good racquet that has good power on groundstrokes. I don't like the grip very much, because it's very stiff and hard. I also didn't get a lot of power on the serve. You can absolutely rip the ball with your groundstrokes.
Comments: This is a great racket for the all-around player. My only complaint is that the grip is too hard. Everything else is superb. It has the perfect balance between power and control, and feels good when I hit the ball. This is a great racquet!
Comments: This racquet is very good for baseliners. It has a lot of topspin with pretty nice volleys. The serves are going in very nice and fast for me but the power is kind of low. It has A LOT of control and makes your shots go wherever you want them to go. I had some trouble adjusting to this racquet but it turned out an extremely nice racquet. Against hard shots, it provides stable and very controlled shots with lots of spin. It is a very nice racquet overall.
Comments: I just got done playing 5 hours with this racquet for the first time, and I absolutely love it. Improved my serves, ground strokes, and slice.
Comments: I had this racquet for almost 3 months, and I'm really impressed of how much power it can generate with faster swings. The best!
Comments: This racket is wicked. It has so much spin I can hit more than my instructor. Also it has tremendous power when you intend with it on the sweet spot. I hit my record speed serve, 108 mph, and I'm only 12. Even though it has a thick 27 mm width great touch and versatility at the net was possible. I personally recommend this racket to those Nadal spinners and Roddick servers.
Comments: I've played with this racquet for the past 10 months. Overall, I would say this is a really great racquet and deserves a lot more respect. This is a stick that rewards a good swing, you need to hit the ball and not just push it back. I string it with a co-poly at 56 or a hybrid and it works great. If you can't handle high swing weights you should check this one out. There are many who say the racquet has too muted feedback, but I know one can adjust the level of feedback with string selection.
Comments: I really like this racquet, but the con is the same as the others, theres no feel. Without a dampener, all you get is the same amount of shock, no matter where you hit (except right next to the frame or the frame itself). With a dampener or rubber band, it feels really soft with no shock, so you cant feel where you hit the ball. On the plus side, its really soft so those with elbow and shoulder problems would benefit from this. This racquet isnt that low powered, but I think you need a fast swing speed to get the right power and spin for this racquet. IMO, this racquet is nothing like the pure drive. The pure drive is A LOT stronger and similar to the speedport black. This racquet is more of a stronger, less stiff, lighter, more maneuverable but with less feel than the kblade tour (93). And against fastballs, you must keep a fast swingspeed or else the racquet will feel dead.
Comments: I have been using a Babolat Pure Drive for about 8 years and was disappointed when they switched to using Cortex. The racquets just didn't feel the same as the original. I recently switched to the Head Extreme Pro but found that I didn't like the feel of the frame. I just demoed the KPro Open and I have to say, this is the racquet for me. It has the feel, power and spin that the original Pure Drive (pre-cortex) had. This is a great frame!
Comments: I demoed the KSting, KZen Team, and KSurge. I liked The Zen Team, but I bought the Zen instead, as it is a bit heavier. But after playing with the Zen for a while, I just wasn't satisfied. A friend recommended the KPro Open or Tour, and I opted for the Open because I wanted the 100 head size. The Open just feels great to me, and my accuracy and control improved immediately. I was able to generate sufficient power, but it was the improved control over the Zen that was the biggest difference. The Open seems like a good compromise between a pure control racquet and a tweener. As a 4.0 player this is a racquet I can enjoy immediately and is enough of a control racquet to keep as I continue improving. And it doesn't hurt that it is really sweet looking racquet.
Comments: I agree with Alex. I tried this racquet and what I've felt is that you can't feel where you are hitting the ball. This racquet is not bad, it's great for groundstrokes with a lot of spin and is maneuverable but has no ball feel. It is like you always hit a little bit out of the sweetspot.
Comments: I switched to this racquet from the Babolat drive z-lite (which I hated) this summer and found my game improve instantly. I felt not too much power, but still had some power, and liked the feel and control. This racquet is good for someone whos looking to play with a lot of topspin and slice. The head size isnt too big or too small, and the weight 11 oz, isn't too light; my arm is still fresh after playing 5hrs a day, for a whole week. This racquet is definitely worth demoing. I would also suggest demoing the k pro tour to see which one suits you better.
Comments: I had a very lukewarm demo with this racquet. I tried it for fun when I went hitting with my brother. I had no feeling with this stick, I've always used racquets that let me feel where the ball is on the stringbed, this stick isn't one of those. The sweetspot was pretty tiny, spin was disappointing, and I couldn't produce a dropshot to save my life, even though that's a shot I can usually pull off on command with my Babolat Pure Drive. Their stats are similar, but two VERY different sticks. I think it's the Kfactor in the racquet. If it were made of 100% graphite, I think it would be a better racquet.
Comments: I was demoing for months until I came upon the KPro open. I tried the Wilson K Six-Two (which I think is nearly the same other than the weight difference) and found it to be to light. Then tried the nPro and found it to be just a bit to much. Then trying the KPro Open I was amazed. The amount of spin and stability it had while staying at a low weight. The power level was perfect and I have nothing but good things to say about this racket. The nPro Open is almost the same thing just a bit heavier basically. So I went out and bought a few of those as well. I would demo both before you buy. Don't let the price scare you away, this racket is definitely worth giving a try.
Comments: I hate to be honest, but Wilson is the king at putting a new paint job on a frame and calling it a new racquet. The K Pro Open is a fine racquet, but no better (and even a bit worse) than its predecessor, the N Pro Open. Wilson's "new technology" does absolutely nothing more than its old technology. Both the K and N Pro Opens are fine 'tweener sticks with a medium amount of power and fine control (or should I say [K]ontrol) and if you want to do the smart thing, save yourself a couple hundred bucks and buy a few solid N Pro Opens before they become rare.
Comments: Great racquet! I recently upgraded from a KZen as I felt I needed more control. This racquet allows me to hit with a full swing on both sides without fear of hitting long. I was worried about serves as the KZen has more power, but I have not lost much with this racquet and my serve placement has vastly improved. Backhand slices are more accurate and it complements my one-handed backhand very well. I play some doubles and I must say that this racquet is nice at the net. I like to come in to the net on singles and this racquet allows you to play the baseline but volley well too. Generating topspin with a semi-western forehand is easy with this racquet.
Comments: This is an awesome racquet, although power could've been increased.
Comments: I demoed this racket for a week. While the power and control suited my game well enough, I absolutely despised the feel. It may have just been the strings, but on most winner attempts, I literally did not feel the ball hit the racquet. on regular rallying, it felt very numb. It felt very good to handle at net though. The K Pro Open played well, without a doubt, but the way it handled just wasn't for me.
Comments: I love this stick. At first, I was a little worried that it would be a bit too powerful as I had just finished testing the K Factor 6.1. I was also concerned about the bigger head size. I gave it a chance, as I was not happy with the lack of serving power the 6.1 gave me. Over the course of an hour, it became a dream. My returns are great and my serve is a weapon. I put some lead tape on it and I am now in control of the power. I also had some previous arm problems and so far so good. I used to be a competitive player but stepped away from the sport for about 12 years. I have started again and was reluctant to part with my old 6.2 Hammers, but my arm couldn't take them anymore. These racquets are like new toys to play with, technology is good.
Comments: Great stick. Real nice predictable soft feel with lots of controllable power. For the last year have been looking to replace my Babolat Pure Drive/cortex with something a little more flexible and less powerful. I went to tennis.com equipment page and tennis warehouse racquet finder, plugged in the specs I was looking for, and tried about 20 racquets. It got down to this and the Wilson Blade 98, also a great stick. This is a little more forgiving due to the 100 si head size and has a little more pop on the serve than the 98. Have leaded the Open up to 11 3/4 oz, 7 pts headlight, and it swings as if it were an 11 oz racquet. I have strung it with Topspin Cyber Power 17 g, a great soft cheap poly, and a hybrid of Topspin in the mains and Tecnifibre NRG2 17 g in the crosses. Both work great! I think this racquet would work well for 3.5-5.5 players.
Comments: Fantastic racquet! Brilliant ability for both topspin and slice. I found loads of power available as well as decent control. This racquet feels like it could be loaded with enough topspin to make the ball bounce up and over your opponent's head! The feel on this racquet was just incredible too. I found my self hitting 120mph serves without too much effort and volleying was very solid too. The racquet felt stiff at the net but flexible enough for groundstrokes. My only gripe was that it felt as if the racquet had too much power almost! In comparison with the KBLade Tour I chose this racquet as the Tour simply was too stiff and has no feel to it. Combine (somehow!) the two and you would have an amazing racquet. I would definitely recommend this racquet to any player. Also the KPro Tour 96 looks amazing.
Comments: I have nothing but good things to say about the K Pro Open! The sweetspot is huge. This stick is so easy to swing and the stability is awesome! I have never played with a racquet that does so many things well, but this is the one. Serves, groundstrokes and volleys are effortless with power when you need it and control on the touch shots. Great job, Wilson. This is by far the best racquet that I have ever used!
Comments: I have used an nPro Open for years and have demoed many new K Factors including this, the Pro Tour, Blade Tour, Tour, Zen, Six-One Team and Six-One 95. I loved my nPro Open, and I have to say this one falls a little short in my book. Although on the side of the racquet it says it has the exact same specs as my nPro Open, it feels much lighter, so it doesn't fit me as well. That being said, I do agree with the other feedback about the stability being good; it is top-notch. But any solid players should consider the K Pro Tour and K Tour in addition to this before buying their racquet.
Comments: Great stick. The first time I tried this racquet, I immediately loved it. I tried along with it the Head Instinct, and various other Prince racquets. I liked this one the most. I was able to hit winners from most parts of the court, and serves were a piece of cake. The one problem I had was the extra weight on this racquet. Before this, I used the old Wilson H Blaze. That racquet was about 30 grams lighter, so at first, my one-handed backhand suffered. But after I got used to it, I was fine. As I said before, great racquet, and one I would recommend. Hope this helps.
Comments: This racquet is great! I guess it's that K Factor, but even though the stats are pretty much the same between the KPro Open and the nPro Open, the KPro Open feels a little more solid than the nPro, especially when playing against heavy hitters. Like the nPro, the KPro is light yet very stable. It's maneuverable at the net, good with the serves and holds it own on the baseline on both wings against anyone! I like the color scheme, even though most don't. If you liked the nPro Open and are looking to upgrade, the KPro Open is definitely the stick for you!
Comments: Great racquet! I purchased this sweet stick the week it was released on the Web site. I just made the switch from my Babolat AeroPro Drive Cortex, and my game has made obvious improvements. I'm able to place my shots with much more confidence now. I found it much more stable from the baseline when compared to the AeroPro, and much more maneuverable at the net. This stick was made for people like me who generate a lot of racquet head speed. The spin generated is best described as a controlled spin, while the spin I was generating with the Babolat was wild and unpredictable and was nothing more than just a whole lot of spin. I can now place my serves where I want them whether hitting with power or spin. Don't let the low power rating fool you, this stick has the potential to be an explosive stick if you the type of player who generates their own power. I'm a K-Factor believer now.
Comments: I demoed several sticks before selecting the KPro Open. The closest I came was a Babolat Pure Drive. The KPro just felt a little more comfortable to me. I tend to hit a fairly "wristy" style anyway, so the light swingweight suits me just fine, but I really don't have any problem at all handling heavy balls, hard serves, etc. In fact, my returns have improved, I think. Once you get the timing right, this racquet volleys like the ball is on remote control - really great touch. My regular partners tell me I lost a little on serve speed compared to the Prince Diablo XP I was playing with, but the spin I am generating more than makes up for it in my book. I'm very happy with my choice.
Comments: Absolutely love this stick! It's quite a nice upgrade from the nCoded version. It has more comfort, better feel, more stability with a tad more flex and a sweet paint job to boot. I have been flip-flopping between sticks, nPro Open, nBlade and the Babolat Pure Storm, and I have finally found my weapon of choice. The first time I used my KPro Open my hitting partner mentioned my balls were coming at him heavier than ever. The amount of spin and pace and depth I'm able to generate with my groundstrokes is sick! Targeting is excellent, and there's plenty of pop and control on serve. They may say this is a 'tweener frame, but it performs and feels like a player's frame. I would recommend this to any player who wants the benefits of a player's frame in a lighter package.
Comments: This is a decent racquet, but I really suggest the KPro Tour because it's much more - for a little more money. The KPro Tour allows the players to be very aggressive and creative. However, this racquet is a little less demanding. Both racquets have great spin potential, speed and feel, and just about everything else.
Comments: I tried the KBlade and KZen before this one, and decided on the KPro Open. After playing with lighter frames as a beginner, I bought this one as a frame I can improve with. I saw improvement right away both on groundstrokes and at the net. It is both very stable on contact and offers great access to control. Even after using a much lighter stick for years, I don't notice any difference in maneuverability; indeed, this one is like driving a new car; I love it! Stable, powerful, comfortable and stylish.
Comments: I demoed the KPro Open along with a KBlade 98. Both racquets gave some good pop from the baseline. The KBlade 98 was stable at the net. But as a baseliner, I prefer the KPro Open. I was able to place shots where I wanted with good pace. Good spin on slices and drop shots. It's very head light and easy on the elbow to make a smooth stroke. Compared to my Babolat Pure Storm, the KPro Open was a joy to hit. I love this racquet so much, I am going to buy one once I return the demo.
Comments: A pretty decent stick. I found a very crisp pop off of the ball from each groundstroke, but unlike my Hyper Hammer 6.3 (95), it came with a little bit less spin. The only time that was really a factor was trying to lob and hit tight passing shots. Along with the groundies, volleys were very crisp, not to mention the racquet is very maneuverable, so that made it nice for some nice reflex volleys. The only thing that I had trouble with really, besides massive spin production, was my serve. It was a little tough to generate a lot of pace and the sort of nasty spin that makes it hard to return. Overall, the racquet seemed much more solid than the nCode version. With that, the KPro Open had great feel, blend of power and control and maneuverability. I would recommend this racquet, but just demo it anyway to make sure that it fits your likings.
Comments: This a light racquet with immense stability. Advanced players will love the head-speed potential, and intermediates will have no problem getting this frame into position. Ball impact comes with a very comfortable, solid-feeling thud. Off center hits come with remarkably little torque. Power is wonderfully low, making this a great frame for people who like to take huge cuts. Make no mistake, though, given its potential for high head-speed, power is very easy to generate. Compared to its nCode predecessor, this frame is more comfortable; it also plays far less stiff, and the ball seems to come off the stringbed with amazing predictability. Given the complete absence of a trampoline-effect, the depth and trajectory control are apparent from the first hit. This is one of those frames that enables some very ambitious targeting. The KFactor technology seems to promote high dwell time. With every hit I had to recheck the racquet to make sure I was not playing with a 12 oz. frame. The stability is profound. Not only is this is an ideal all court frame, but it also would be great for doubles (where speed at net is crucial). I typically play with a very heavy player's frame because I value stability, especially against heavy pace. I would have no problem switching to this frame. Kudos to Wilson. Maybe there is something to the new technology.
