ProKennex Ionic Ki 15 Racquets Customer feedback
Comments: Yes I agree with the last customer's feed back about Pro Kennex customer service; not very good when trying to deal with them directly with crack frame issues. The best way to do it is to have the dealer deal with the warranty issue if at all possible. They have a
much easier time dealing with these types of issues. Other than that the Ki 5 is a great racket to play with when you have arm and shoulder issues. Great all court stick...
Comments:This racquet is worth writing a review. For my style of play, I can say that this racquet suits me. I had a serious shoulder injury 4 years ago and is not just going back to tennis so I am in constant search for a comfortable racquet yet will give me the power and control that I need. I tested several "comfort" racquets and this ProKennex Ionic Ki 15 so far has met my search criteria. I was looking for a head light racquet that is just the light enough to be maneuverable yet will give me power and control. It is comfortable on off center hits. On normal hits, there is no harsh vibration in the handle yet there some amount of feel. I can rip the ball with minimal effort, I do not have to accelerate my swing to generate that flat drive. The plow through is magnificent on groundstrokes. For top spin groundstrokes, the ball does not fly out too high from the net, just the right height. For serves, it is easy to generate spin and give weight to the ball. For volleys, I felt I am holding a head light racquet with some head heavy results because the hits were solid with some pop. It is not as maneuverable as other head light racquets that I have used, but decent enough. As it is, I am looking forward to having this racquet. ProKennex is not used by the ATP Pros but they make good quality racquets. I salute to them.
Comments: I switched from the Ki 5x to this racquet because even though the 5x is a great racquet, I just couldn't swing it fast enough against heavy hitters. After a few times on the court I realized Ki 15 is too light to be arm friendly against a heavy ball and the elbow takes too much shock. So now after some experimenting with lead tape I have it weighing 11.1 ounces and 5 points headlight and it produces the best results I've ever had. It's very stable and solid and the sweet spot is huge. My serves have never been so powerful and because of the maneuverability. I'm making a lot less unforced errors. It's now basically a turbo charged arm friendly Pure Drive. I highly recommend a customized Ki15.
Comments: This is an update to a previous post. I have played with
this stick for about a month, solid. Verdict? This may be one of the
best kept secrets out there, seriously. I have used or demoed many
racquets over the past five years, looking for one that can do it all
with no extra strain on my 50 year old shoulder and elbow, and this one
amazes me. I have zero shoulder or elbow pain, and get all the power
I need and also really good control (strung at 60 lbs). This is a
serving monster and everything else seems to have pop, accuracy and
surprisingly great feel for an oversize frame. I will also tell you
that this one does not feel or play like a 105 square inch head size racquet! For the price (maybe for any price under $200), I strongly believe this is the best I have used or tested so far, in a sub-11 ounce, extremely user-friendly package. Highly recommend this ProKennex frame!
Comments: This is an excellent racquet for playing doubles. The control is an 8 out of 10. Volleying is an 8 out of 10. Maneuverability is 10 out of 10. Don't be too quick to put it down. Give yourself a chance to adjust to it. Previous racquets I used: Wilson K Factor K Zero, Prince Warrior oversize, and Yonex RQS 33. This is very easy on the arm. Best racquet I have tried in three years.
Comments: Just received this ProKennex Ki 15 stick a couple days ago, and I am impressed! The only strange thing is the sensation of the kinetic system. You can actually hear the little beads inside the frame, especially if you hit anywhere near the frame. This is only a minor gripe though, given the level of comfort, power and pretty decent control that this frame delivers. The extended length is great for those reach volleys and also for serves, and helps deliver a little more pop on groundstrokes (although you do have to get used to keeping the ball a little further away from your body as at times I feel a little handcuffed by the extra length). Lastly, the new graphics/paint are dynamite and the overall price/value is really exceptional. I highly recommend.
Comments: TW, We have 2 racquets with identical specs, The new Q15 and the Ki15. Actually the Ki15 is one point more head light, other than that everything is identical. Can you please explain why you rate the swing weight for the Q15 at 308 and the swing weight for the Ki15 at 323? If anything the Ki15 should have an lighter swing weight or at least be close. I know you're gonna say that was the avg. of all racquets you tested but it still makes no sense.
Comments: I've used a succession of Pro Kennex racquets over the past 10 years and this is the best by far. For a primarily doubles player, like myself, it's got the right mix of power for serving & groundstrokes, but with superior maneuverability for confident volleying. Highly recommend this racquet and the Pro Kennex brand.
Comments: I am a long-time fan of PK racquets. The Kinetic/Ionic technology really works, resulting in very comfortable, safe, and stable racquets. Also I really appreciate that PK sticks by its racquet line and doesn't introduce a new line every year. I have played with the 5G, 7G, Ki5, Ki15PSE, and Ki20PSE and feel that the Ki15 offers the best balance of power, control, stability, and maneuverability. Initially the medium-high power level took me by surprise, but I quickly adjusted and learned to like it. Strung with a thin gauge poly at close to mid-range tension, the racquet creates great spin with control. The extra length provides added leverage on serve and on my 2HBH but doesn't compromise maneuverability due to the lightweight, which makes the racquet nimble at net. Because it is light I am able to get great racquet head speed on groundies and serves, but the racquet is still stable against pace and I haven't felt the need to add any extra weight to it. I am very happy with this tweener frame and look forward to playing more with it.
Comments: I like this racquet and now own 3 of them. Maneuverability is a problem. I think it is the heaviest 105 in production. Racquets this size are normally made lighter to keep them maneuverable. I added weight to the handle of mine to bring the balance back and enhance the maneuverability. I also use light weight string.
Comments: WOW! I have been playing tennis for 25 years and this racquet is the best frame I have ever owned. I demoed the Volkl Power Bridge V1 Oversize, Yonex S-Fit 3, Prince O3 Blue Original, Volkl Power Bridge 3 and decided to by the ProKennex Ionic Ki 15. This frame offers the perfect blend of power and control. It has a great cushy feel when the ball comes off the strings. I am not a power player and like to string my racquets well below the recommended tension. My philosophy is why not let the strings do the work for you and just shorten up your swing. Any way; this racquet is a dream to play with especially if you have elbow issues. You get great depth on ground stroke with minimal effort and can move the ball around the court with great ease. At the net volleys are solid and accurate. You never get an unexpected response from the string bed. Try it, buy it, love it. Enough said.
Comments: I have been using the various generations of the 5 to the 15 series. The 15 is my favorite. I have the Ti15, 15G and the recent two generations of the Ki15. Simply love this latest Ki15. Prokennex is just getting better and better. It's an all rounder and extremely friendly on arms and shoulders. I used to use Wilson nCode Six-One and K Factor KSix-Two; all gave me some forms of wrist, elbow and/or shoulder problems after a while.
Comments: After reading the reviews and then finding a great deal on the ProKennex Ionic Ki 15 I had to give it a try. Have to say am more than pleased. Was a lifelong Wilson racquet models player since starting with wood racquets. This lightweight racquet has increased my swing speed and power without causing arm or
shoulder problems. Control is fine for ground strokes and the lightweight really helps with volleying especially if you are a middle aged doubles player as I am.
Would recommend to most intermediate + doubles or injury prone players that are not heavy topspin/power players.
Comments: Excellent racquet for me, a 3.5 player with arm issues. I did demos with Fisher and Head, which both claimed to be "arm-friendly". That was not case, especially when compared to the Pro Kennex Ki15. This is, by far, the most arm-friendly racquet I have ever hit with. If you have issues with your elbow or shoulder, do yourself a favor and give this frame a whirl. This racquet changed my tennis life!
Comments: I got tennis elbow while using Wilson's nCode Six-One. I stopped playing tennis for 6 weeks and then bought Prokennex's ki 15 and strung it very loose at 23 kg (50 lbs). I had no longer had tennis elbow problems. The racquet delivers what it promotes: no pain in a 'tweener racquet. I am actually a 3.5 or 4 player. As my tennis improved from a 3 level to 3.5, I personalized the racquet: 1) By increasing the tension till 26 kg (52 lbs). 2) By adding about 20 grams weight. Both changes had been positive. However, I recently demoed Prokennex's ki 5 (and also Prince O3 Speedport Black) and I realized that the racquet fits much better my play because it offers much more control than the ki 15. So, after having used the ki 15 for one and a half years I changed to Prokennex ki 5.
Comments: Nice racket for players looking for controllable power and extended reach. Good spin on serves, groundies are solid and volley is nice, although like most other longer frames, touch/feel is slightly hindered (for all longer frames in my opinion). Serving is definitely aided by the additional length. Frame is light and head-light, so I added approximately 0.4 oz to throat area to aid in return of serve vs. heavy servers. Demoed Wilson K Sting, Yonex 11 and 33, and various Head frames. It was best trade-off for lighter, head-light frame with medium power. Definitely notice the shock absorption technology, but in a good way - does not seem to deaden feel to any extent or hide the sweetspot.
Comments: I've been using it for a year, and I sincerely say that it has a lot of swingweight and power, easy to play and perfectly for spin players like me.
Maybe it isn't the best racquet for touch, but it's OK for volleys and delicate touches under net. It has right weight (not too heavy, not too light) and good balance and, at last, no elbow, wrist, shoulder problems anymore because of the fantastic Ionic-Kinetic system that only Pro Kennex has! Tennis players believe me: This is a wonderful tennis racquet for competitive players.
Comments: I am a 4.0 middle-aged guy who plays up to 5 times a week. I had to take 6 months off because of tennis elbow. I used a multi-prong approach to get back including rest, massage, acupuncture, and most importantly taking lessons from a pro attuned to tennis elbow. I demoed a lot of racquets to find the best one for my elbow and this one was the best, using natural gut a little below the mid recommended tension.
Comments: I just demoed this racquet; I compared it to Yonex Nano RQ5, Volkl Catapult 4 Gen2 and DNX V1,
Babolat VS NCT Drive, and the ProKennex KI 20. Bottom line... I liked the ProKennex KI 15 a whole bunch better than those other
racquets. I got a decent serve, good back hand, good control, and a lot of spin. I will Demo a few more racquets to be sure, and
then compare them to the ProKennex KI15. I just wanted to let people know that this was a good racquet, and they should try it
out.
Comments: I'm a solid, improving all-court 3.5 player that has demoed about 20
racquets in the past 18 months. My arm (elbow and shoulder) is prone to getting sore, but
nothing too severe or terribly chronic. I use a ball machine to demo the racquets with various
shots so I get a consistent comparison and use a string-meter to measure string tension to
see how close the tension is between the racquets I'm demoing, since string tension can
make a huge difference in how a racquet feels. About 18 months ago I chose the Volkl
V1-Catapult out of about 8 racquets I demoed. Recently, I decided for fun to demo a half
dozen new racquets to make sure I was using the best racquet for my game (and arm). For
comparison, one of the other racquets I demoed was the new Prince 03 Red which seemed
to be getting a lot of attention. (I chose racquets purely on specs looking for a head-light
racquet in the 105-110 sq. in. category) I liked the ProKennex so much better than any of the
other racquets, I was completely baffled when I found there was no Tennis Warehouse
review on it and not one single user review posted here. This told me the ProKennex brand
isn't a very popular brand compared to Wilson, Babolat, Volkl and Prince (how many clubs
are sponsored by ProKennex?) What a shame. This racquet played much better than the
much hyped Prince. The ProKennex had more feel and control than the Prince but still had
adequate power. The racquet is light and very maneuverable yet stable. What is amazing is
that this racquet is even easier on my arm than the V1 with the Catapult system. Both my
tennis instructor and my regular weekly opponent noticed an improvement in the consitency
of my ground strokes. I just don't understand why more people aren't talking about this
racquet except for the fact it isn't one of the more 'popular' brands. I'm not one to talk up a
racquet but this one definitely deserves more attention in the tweener category. ProKennex
should pay me for taking the time to write this!
