Comments: A great shoe!! I received a pair with a warranty claim from a pair of 820s. Good looks and very comfortable. Also, the durability is very good for a lightweight shoe. I play 4.5 singles, hard courts, and this shoe performs very well. I hear from other comments that NB will be discontinuing this shoe. Too bad! What NB shoe replaces this one?

Comments: I have worn this shoe, and the 820 before that, the past four seasons and love it. My advice is that you read the sole replacement warranty card carefully. It says one replacement "per customer," as compared to the other brands that offer replacement one per purchased pair of shoes. Two years ago I wore through the sole of 820s and sent it in for warranty replacement. New Balance shipped me a new pair, no problem. More recently I wore through a pair of 822's and sent them in. New Balance told me, via email, that my claim was declined because I had previously replaced a pair under warranty. I explained that the prior replacement was a couple years earlier, and that the pair I sent it was newly purchased. No matter. The New Balance warranty is one replacement per customer, period. I tripled checked this with them. They confirmed that I am no longer eligible for any New Balance warranty replacement, forever, because I sent in one pair of shoes two years ago. True story. I still have the emails. Too bad, because I really liked their shoes.

Comments: I am a woman with a wide foot. From the looks of previous feedback entries, I may be the only woman so far to have shared feedback. I LOVE this shoe. As a woman with a wide foot, is has been difficult to find a men's tennis shoe as light & yet supportive as this one and as neutrally designed as this one. Couldn't believe this, (and sorry to share this with some of the masculine guys out there) but I actually had a female tennis friend tell me they were "cute". I play 4.0 level tennis on both hard & har-tru surfaces. It performs well on both. Thank you New Balance for such a lightweight and thoughtfully designed shoe for us women out here!

Comments: This shoe didn't really perform for me. After only moderate play (1 to 2 times a week for just over 2 months), the shoe had stretched a full size and wore a hole in the upper. The sole is showing substantial balding as well. I also experience some pretty intense foot pain right at the inside of the ball of my foot after a match. I do not experience this pain when wearing my Barricade II's or my Yonex STH-305's. I'd recommend both of those shoes over this New Balance. Don't buy!

Comments: Not a bad shoe, unless you need good ankle support. I used to wear K-Swiss Ultracendor and had great ankle support, but the shoes were hot and made my feet sweat (it gets very hot in San Antonio!) so I switched to the New Balance. It does a better job at keeping my feet cool, but I have been experiencing ankle pain after playing. This never happened when I wore the K-Swiss. Sorry, NB but I'm going back to K-Swiss.

Comments: Honestly this shoe is ok. The stability is ok and the cushioning last for about 3 weeks. I’m 6ft, 205 pounds, size 16 shoe, so my options are limited. The durability is HORRIBLE after month the outsole is smooth as a baby's bottom. Therefore, these shoes aren’t at the top of the list when it comes down to playing tennis but they do look nice, that is until the mesh begins to come apart.

Comments: These are the best shoes I've ever owned. Upon delivery, I was concerned about the support as I previously always used all leather shoes. These shoes not only deliver tremendous support, they are extremely light and keep the feet nice and cool if you play outdoors.

Comments: Nice looking tennis shoes, very stable as they are a little wider on the sole to prevent ankle roll, extremely light shoe, I found that they stretch a bit as normally I go a size 10US in Nike I was a 9.5D in these shoes. I also found the upper heal was a little harsh as I received a small blister in that area. Excellent tread pattern for hard court or grass and a very chunky heal for cushioning. There is a fair bit of rubber in the toe area for toe drag but I cannot comment on durability as I have not had them for to long. I normally go Diadora Speedzones but are now out of my price range but the New Balance 822 is well worth the money. Recommended.

Comments:One of the best shoes I’ve tried. While I'm no not a shoe connoisseur, I really do like these shoes. They have just enough traction for me, and seem to be holding up well. Only two little problems. The insoles the manufacturer puts in them isn’t so good, so I switched it out and put a Dr. Scholl‚s comfort one in, soon to be replaced by a Spenco one of some sort. Secondly, the shoes stretch (somehow), and the shoes feel loose after about 15 minutes after tying. It gets sort of annoying to keep tightening the shoelaces, but other than those two problems, a great shoe. Not too expensive either.

Comments: For the price, these shoes are great. Good cushioning, nice and light, and they look pretty awesome. They are also pretty durable. The only thing I think NB could have
improved on is traction. I sometimes find myself sliding when I'm trying to change directions. But if you are willing to spend more money, the Barricade 4's are even better.

Comments: Great low-profile shoe. Light weight and they FIT!!! I normally buy size 11 shoes but I went with 10.5 2E with these and it is perfect. The 4E were too wide when I bought the 820's and the D width tends to pinch my right foot.

Comments: The shoe preference is a very subjective matter. This is my first NB shoe and what a hit! Up until now I've been playing in Prince (Viper iv, and other models). Up on the advice from my DPM decided to switch to NB. For me the shoe delivers a perfect fit (in D width) and super stability. This shoe is the best I've had in tennis shoes so far. It feels great from the get go, no break in is required. Indeed very light and super stable. As far as cushioning, well maybe a bit more would be nice, but overall it does not change my opinion about the shoe.
Beats by a mile any Prince show I've had so far. I can't imagine what the more recent and advanced NB models must feel like (e.g. 1001 and 1002), but the feedback from those on this site isn't too rosy. I guess I'll be playing in NB for a while now.

Comments: These were great out of the box but after a month or so of playing they are completely stretched out. I had to give up on them after a few weeks of sloppiness and constant lace tightening. They are incredibly light but as a result have almost no structure.

Comments: I have been using these for 8 weeks now. They are light and comfortable with excellent breathability
like a running shoe. Nice traction on hard courts. Cushioning is fair...but could be a bit better. (Perhaps my heavy build 200+
lbs. demands more shock absorption?) Other than that, sharp looking shoe that fits like a wrap-around slipper.

Comments: A very good shoe. They are comfortable and I could play with them right out of the box. The only New
Balance shoe which took care of both my high instep and high arch. I also have Planters Fascitis and use an insole. I played with
them for over 2 hours and had no pain. I recommend this shoe.

Comments: I switched over to these from the Nike Air Max Breathe Free 2 after wearing them out and hoping I
would get a comparable shoe with decent cushioning. What a bad choice I made. These are way too wide for my D width foot
even with wearing Thorlos. On top of that, they feel clunky and not maneuverable for stop and go action. I realize most shoes
need some break in time, but after 4 matches, and a few blisters, they still feel very stiff.

Comments: I have been playing with these shoes for about a month now and they are great. They are lightweight
and comfortable right out of the box. They're also better looking than normal white tennis shoes! I play at the 4.5 level - always
on hard courts. I think the gel heel insole might be a good idea (see other comments here) - the cushioning isn't the best but it's
certainly adequate.

Comments: I have had these shoes for over a month now and play on hard courts 4 times a week at a 4.5 level. I
found these to be very comfortable right out of the box with no break-in time required. These shoes have great support and
cushioning. Much better than my previous Barricades. Good looking shoe too.

Comments: Very nice shoes - light, comfortable, very good ventilation. Easy to play right out of the box. I was
looking for some more cushioning while maintaining a light, quick shoe, these do the trick, plus they are sharp looking.

Comments: These shoes are much more comfortable and cushioning then the 820's. I have a gel
heel insole which adds even more cushioning to the shoe. I play mostly on a hard court surface and I
recommend them highly.
