Comments: I previously purchased the Babolat Nadal 21 and before that the Wilson 21 (Sponge Bob) for my son. I tried hiting with them and they were just toys. I looked at the price of the Roddick Pure Drive 23 and figured it had to be better, or I was going to be out the extra money. My son is 5 but is very athletic. Not too big, however. I took off the grip, and replaced it with an overwrap which is much thinner, to reduce the grip size. Can't grind down the handle much on this racquet. It's still too big of a grip, as are all the grips on these junior rackets, unless you have a junior LeBron. Unfortunately, there are no grip size choices. This racquet is WAY BETTER. The sweet spot is much larger, the construction is better, the racquet is very solid. If you are a player and did comparisons you would immediately feel the difference. He much prefers this racquet. If you want the best chance to have your child have a good experience, I recommend that you spend the extra $45. If you are reading this you can probably afford it. An athletic 5 year old will have no problem with this stick.
