adidas CC Genius London Men's Shoe Customer feedback

Comments: The shoes were absolutely outstanding. The comfort was amazing and it was perfectly stable. No bad points in this model.
From: Azan, Calcutta, West Bengal, India. 11/09

Comments: These shoes are amazing. I used to have the barricades and my feet would always be tired by the 3rd or sometimes 2nd set so I switched to these and they are amazing!
From: Zane, Los Angeles, CA, US 11/09

Comments: I loved the look of these shoes and was excited to have a shoe lighter than the Barricade V. I got the silver pair and after an okay break in period they were fairly comfortable. But I have lost more toenails in the 6 months that I've had these shoes than I have in the last 8 years of playing. Not sure what it is about the design of these shoes, but I continue to get blood blisters under my big toes. At my last tourney I decided to bring along my old Barricade V's and sure enough, my feet felt much better after my matches. Back to buying Barricades I go.
From: Curt, San Diego, CA, USA 11/09

Comments: Awesome shoes I have the blue cc's and they fell great after a couple of hours of breaking them in I don't c why some people say these type of shoes are bad they are the best I ever had and to this date Adidas make the best shoes.
From: Kevin, EL Paso, Texas, US 11/09

Comments: Wow I got these shoes today for about 4 hours and they felt great; nice comfort and mobility.
From: Ian, El Paso TX USA 10/09

Comments: I bought the CC Genius, they are quite comfortable but they wear out very fast, that is the main problem with the shoes and the shoes compared to Barricade 5 are better.
From: Anmol, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, 10/09

Comments: These shoes were great! They were very comfortable. The only bad thing was that they wore out pretty much right at the six month mark of having these shoes
From: Mason, Mankato, Mn, USA 10/09

Comments: Update. After almost a month, it's beginning to get worn it. Unfortunately it stretched to the point where it's almost too big at the toe!. Otherwise excellent shoes, love the lateral support.
From: Anon. 10/09

Comments: Great shoe. I broke them in after like 20 minutes of play. Only bad thing about the shoe is that they wear down really quickly and I don't even move my feet very well, but I do slide on my serve. They have a six month warranty so no big deal.
From: Anon, El paso, tx,USA. 10/09

Comments: Just bought mine. Used it straight out of the box with additional heel cushion. Felt stiff at first and really hard feeling sole. But after 45 min, it was feeling great if abit heavy. The only drawback is the solid plastic support piece on the outside of right foot, rubbing against my foot. Love the solid feel and amount of support. Don't see problem with lacing once you figure out the trick.
From: AJ, Thailand 09/09

Comments: I've had many pairs of Barricades and A3 Accelerators and I've never had a problem with fit until these shoes. I would not recommend them. They are extremely uncomfortable near the strap and I've had them for a few weeks now and I've yet to break them in. Stick with the Barricade..
From: Ken, Dallas, TX, US 09/09

Comments: I started using the adidas cc genius which are blue, i think it's the australian open edition. However, i started using them in late june and now, after almost three months of use, i have finished the outsole of them. In the info it is said to have six months warranty. I haven't done anything but playing in hard court which i think is normal for most player but as i said they just have less than three months i there are almost "finished". I would like to know if i can make the warranty valid since here in mexico.
From: Emmanuel, Queretaro, Queretaro, Mxico 09/09

Comments: Very stiff even after many hours of use. Shoes are very narrow and uncomfortable even though I have fairly narrow feet. Quick stops and change of directions have resulted in broken/bruised toenails.
From: David, Santa Barbara, CA 09/09

Comments: Around 2 weeks to really break in the shoes, but after that they feel like gloves. They're comfortable to wear everywhere after you break them in, contrary to what many others have said. Didn't last as long as I hoped though. only 2 and 1/2 months. Lots of traction, its easy to stop and change directions while running.
From: Dave, Bellevue, WA 09/09

Comments: Beast shoes. I've had them for three months now. A little tight but I like the fit. Overall great shoe.
From: BOB. 9/09

Comments: Shoes are good, but I don't recommend them. Over time if you are trying to stop on a dime with these, or chase a ball down, it really takes a toll on your toes. I have ripped a toenail off due to these shoes.
From: Andy, Cerritos Cali, USA. 9/09

Comments: Great looking shoes but I would say don't waste your money on them. After playing 5 times a week for a month my toe nails are broken and I got splinters. Also after a week or two while running you can stop in them without your toes not hurting.
From: Mishaal, Dubai 08/09

Comments: The right shoe was longer then the left and medium support. The toes do NOT bend like they should with where your toes would its uncomfortable.
From: Dustin Allen, Bothell, WA 08/09

Comments: Take a while to break in but overall are excellent shoes. Fit like a glove around mid-foot - better than the Barricade II in that regard. Traction and stability are likely the best I have ever experienced in a tennis shoe. Have no problems with the lacing system as some have wrote. Overall grade is an 'A'.
From: Julien, Morris County, NJ, 08/09

Comments: I switched from the Barricade to the Adidas CC Genius and that was a big mistake. My feet are a mess due to the narrow toe box; and I ordered the shoe a half size bigger as I do with the Barricades. I blew through the soles in four months as compared to the Barricade which took five and half months to wear out. I will never purchase this shoe again.
From: Mike, Golden, Co USA 08/09

Comments: The break in period really sucks for these shoes. I had a hard time with foot pain during the first week of wear. On a brighter note, they seem to have greater durability than the barricade series. I feel that all my movements in these shoes are cleaner and stopping on a dime is no problem. If you willing to put up with the break of period...ie: 1 to 2 weeks, the overall performance will surprise you in a positive way. People with wide feet should avoid these though. My foot pain and break in period took twice as long to get these shoes to conform to my feet. I would buy these again though due to how performance translates into faster movement to the ball.
From: Ivan, Orange County, USA 08/09

Comments: Feels a lot like a narrower version of Barricade IV. Stiff at first, lots of support, considerable break in period. The plastic on the outside will dig into your foot if you have wide feet. My feet are about average, so it doesn't "hurt", but it's a bit uncomfortable on severe cuts back to the ball. If you like barricades, but have narrower feet, you might really like them. I like the Barricade V's much better, but these are serving just fine for me. It has taken a couple of weeks and 5 or 6 matches to break them in. Definitely not "un-comfortable", but not the most comfortable. To the good: Great traction, deep herring bone pattern tread, and they look pretty cool. Plenty of cushion in the sole. I got a 10 1/2 when I normally wear a 10 in Barricade V, 10 in Nike Vapor, Propulse 2, 10 1/2 in Breathe Free Cage 2...just my 2 cents. If you disagree, your foot must be different than mine...and imagine that. For reference: my favorite shoe ever, Nike Vapor IV, followed closely by Propulse 2 and Barricade V (stiffer, but very supportive and cushioned). Cage are okay for me. If I had to do over, I would've ordered Barricade V.

NTRP Rating: 4.5 all court singles and dubs

Comments: Bought these shoes to replace my Barricade II's. I have a pretty wide foot and after reading the comments I decided to buy this shoe in a half size bigger than normal. However, even with the extra space they were uncomfortably narrow and there was way too much space in the toe box. Although people say the shoes get better as they are broken in, the hard plastic pieces on the side of the shoe had no give and jabbed into the side of my foot, and I doubted they would loosen with time. I sent them back and got the Barricade V's which are the most comfortable shoe I've worn and better than the II's after break-in. The Genius is definitely not a shoe for a wide foot, even if ordered in a bigger size.
From: Phil, AZ 08/09

Comments: I like this shoe... just got my second pair. They smelled a bit funny prior to use, and now after two matches they really stink. I'm not one to have a foot odor problem - not sure if it's something specific to this shoe. I'm finding it does not breathe enough. Maybe the odor will give me an on-court advantage.
From: Scott, FL, USA. 7/09

Comments: I wore these shoes for straight out of the box... terrible idea, but after a bit of break in they are great shoes, light and supportive. My only complaints are the lack of breathability (I thought the ClimaCool would be better) and after they wear out the plastic on the side becomes a huge danger. I ate it pretty bad on a couple of occasions.
From: Marcus, Rio Rancho, NM, US. 7/09

Comments: At first this shoe was hard for me to break in, but once I had been playing for a while, they started to feel okay. After a long day of playing tennis, though, I'm definitely ready to take them off because comfort only goes so far with this shoe.
From: Julius, C.C. Texas USA. 7/09

Comments: Pretty good shoes. I have been wearing barricades for the past 4 years and these shoes feel pretty similar to the barricade v's. It does feel a bit lighter. I love these shoes and break in took about 6 hours of tennis. Support is good, traction is good, stability, durability is all good. Comfort.....good enough that I wear it even to school and anywhere else I go...similar to barricades. Great shoes ADIDAS!
From: Tanner, OKC, OK, USA. 07/09

Comments: I've been hesitant to buy Adidas shoes ever since having a terrible experience with with the Barricades, but I love this shoe. It is stiff at first and requires a good couple of hours of casual wear to break this puppy in, but once you do it is a very comfy and stable shoe. I've been playing with the Asics Gel Resolution 2 shoes for a while now and they are very comfy, but they are nowhere near as stable as the CC Genius. I highly recommend this shoe.
From: Alex, New Mexico. 7/09

Comments: At first I loved these shoes. They fit my feet fine and obviously they looked great! I was known as the blue man to my friends' parents. But as I began to play on the tournaments my feet began to blister very badly and come district tournament two of my socks were lost to a bloody toenail. A great looking shoe but I recommend a different shoe for a very persistant tennis player.
From: anon. 06/09

Comments: When I first got the shoe I didn't think i could play with them but after i broke them in they became the most comfortable and stable shoe EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They last for awhile. Overall great shoe.
From: Sam, Bradenton, Fl, USA 06/09

Comments: Very supportive shoe. I liked the stability, thanks to the plastic thing on the bottom of the shoe. Really comfortable, great traction. The design is very cool, and very "djokovic" I love these and plan on buying again when I wear out my Babolat propulse2's.
From: anon. 06/09

Comments: Simply an amazing shoe! Comfy, dont need to break them in. I like them 10x better then my nike dragon x's.
From: George, CT 06/09

Comments: Extremely stiff at the beginning, but really softens up after a few sets and a few wears casually. More comfortable than Barricades, but less ankle support and durability.
From: billy, new york, new york, usa. 6/09

Comments: They are a very bad shoe when you first put them on. They feel bulky and stiff. Give them about two weeks, and they will fit like a glove. I have tripped over them once or twice within the three months I've worn them on my backhand for some reason, making me look like an idiot. I have never had that problem with the Breathe Cage IIs.
From: Steve, NC, High School Player. 6/09

Comments: This shoe is extremely bad and hurts your feet. As for someone who plays tennis 5 plus days a week, I would not recommend thses shoes to anyone. After wearing these twice, my toenails are completely broken and hurt very much. I would not recommend theses shoes to any buyer.
From: Anon. 6/09

Comments: Good looking shoe but I have to throw them away. After 1 week of wearing them on the court they give me severe shin splints.
From: Mike, Fairfield, CA Solano. 5/09

Comments: Definitely one of the best looking shoes Adidas has ever made. I have the white and black version of the shoe and to me they look like Star Wars storm troopers...they are dope! But to the mechanics of the shoe: at first they were comfortable and snug, but for sure needed a 3-4 hour break-in period which is common for most of Adidas' shoes. However, unlike the Barricades, these shoes got broken in nicely and now feel like a high-end, supportive featherlight shoe. Adidas definitely fixed the weight problem with the Barricades. These shoes are still durable and comfortable and after using adidas shoes for over 4 years these are by far the best shoe from them.
From: Alex, Colo Sprgs, CO, USA. 4/09

Comments: I was very skeptical about trying something new but I was able to try them and wear them around first. I've been through several pairs of 2's, 4's, and 5's, and overall, I liked the 5 best. The genius definitely seems to have a more snug, narrow fit compared to the 4 and 5. They seem lighter and the heel seems softer and more padded than even the 2. They are quite stiff for the first few hours although I'm starting to love them. I think they have just as good if not better stability, at least in the forefoot, than the 5. They don't feel bulky or unnecessarily substantial. However, it seems they might run a 1/2 size smaller because I've always worn 10's and these 10's are much shorter in length.
From: Chris, Portland, Oregon, USA. 04/09

Comments: Just got these shoes in the mail (Tennis Warehouse (TW) is always lightning fast with their shipping). The shoes are stiff, hopefully they will break in nicely. If you buy these shoes, don't be confused by the lacing system. The top eyelet on one side is closed off on purpose (for some reason). If you look at the 360 view TW provides, you can see that there is an eyelet on one side at the top and not on the other. On the closed side, push the shoe lace through the inside hole and you will see it come out on the inside top, instead of the outside top. I was about 10 seconds away from thinking my shoe was a defect and poking a hole myself with a scissors.
From: Mike, Fairfield, CA, USA. 4/09

Comments: I decided to get these over the nike vapor VI, I wasn't really sure what to expect because of the feedback left about them. They are extremly stiff and it takes a good week to break them in, I wear two pairs of socks so I had no problems with blisters from the sides so you might want to do that. I feel sure footed with them and quick. They have had held up so far so i think the durabilty is also pretty good plus the have the outsole garuntee. Dope colors and they look sweet when you playing with them too. Way better deal then vapors or ballistics.
From: Brandon Helfrich, Bloomsburg Pa. 04/09

Comments: I agree that you have to stick with them because of the narrowness. At he beginning it's awkward since you're not use to it, but if you stick with them you will find that this actually helps support your feet more. It took me two sets to wear them in and now they feel so good.
From: Zach, Irmo, SC, USA. 3/09

Comments: I was a bit skeptical after playing with them the first couple times. I have a wide foot at the base of my toes. The plastic that holds the sole to the upper part of the shoe was causing pain and redness on the outside of my foot. However, after having plunked down $110 for them I had to stick with them to see if I could break them in. After playing 4 sets of singles and 4 sets of doubles, the area that was tight has loosened up and they feel great. The shoe lace hole that people have complained about is difficult when first lacing them up, but it holds the laces tightly and keeps your feet securely in the shoes. The Barricade V does have a bit better out of the box fit, but those who stick with this shoe will find it just as good as the Barricade with a bit better stability, which is exactly what I need considering I've twisted ankles a few times and cover a lot of the court when playing singles.
From: Luke, San Diego, CA, USA. 3/09

Comments: Well, I ordered these shoes assuming they were going to be similar to the Adidas Barricades II and III (I didn't like five). When I first put them on they literally strangled my feet, and I even ordered a half size larger. The arch is very awkward and the shoe is much more narrow than the usual Barricade. Since I was too lazy to send it back, I decided to give it a chance for break-in. I could not even last more than 20 minutes of hitting with these. I went home, loosened the laces from the bottom up, flexed the shoe a lot, and boy did that make a difference. They now are incredibly supportive and comfortable, but the one huge issue that I hope will go away is the material in the toe that is very stiff. It rubs against the top of my toes every time I walk and it is getting better as I play more so hopefully it will go away altogether. For those of you that quickly rejected this shoe, try loosening and playing more with it! (However, I do not recommend it over the barricades)
From: Ahmed, Crozet, VA, USA. 2/09

Comments: Just received these by UPS. Feels great so far. Yes, they are stiff, but if you've ever worn Barricade fours, it's nothing. For those who says its too stiff, heavy, and ugly: go back to nike. You can look awesome and pay out the butt for shoes that will last you a week. Can wait to try these out on the hard courts.
From: Daniel, Booneville, MS, USA. 2/09

Comments: After years of wearing Barricades, I decided I would try a new type of shoe. Simply put, these have been a huge disappointment. The inner eyelet of each shoe has a covering making it hard to pull the lace through. This piece can be removed but the shoes are also very uncomfortable. There is a bump in the sole creating a pressure point and making it very awkward to walk. The worst part, however, is the material on the top of the toe. As it bends when I walk, it pinches the top of my toes causing them to become incredibly irritated. These shoes are far from genius and I would not recommend these to anyone.
From: Aaron, USA. 2/09

Comments: Just got these shoes. Tried them on right out of the box, couldn't wait. Horrible shoe. Stiff, narrow, the lacing is just dumb. I'm sending them back tomorrow and waiting for the CC Feather IV in black to come out.
From: Brian, New Jersey. 2/09

Comments: Definitely not for people with wide feet. It is very stable even though heavier than most other shoes. The worst feature of this shoe is the outside material - it is made of some kind of patent leather which is not very flexible. The right shoe wrinkled into the inside of my right foot and gave me a nasty blister while the left shoe wrinkled out and was OK. Very stiff pair of shoes for my liking. Will not recommend this.
From: Emil, Chicago, IL USA. 2/09

Comments: I felt they ran a little narrow in the forefoot upon the first wear. After about an hour of play, they did loosen up a bit and though they continued to feel a little snug, I had no issues whatsoever with the forefoot width. The traction was supreme as well as the stability. Where I did have a problem, however, was in the instep. The arch support seems to be out of place, pushed forward. I didn't notice for about an hour, when I could feel blisters forming on my insteps just forward of my arches. Hopefully this will subside when broken in.
From: Klaus, Tehachapi, CA, USA. 2/09

Comments: Correction on my previous comment: People with flat, wider feet should order a 1/2 size larger. In my case that would have been a 10.5.
From: Jevon, The Hague, The Netherlands. 2/09

Comments: In my first couples practices with these shoes they were tight around the sides, but soon after they became very comfortable. Plus they look great too.
From: Alistair, Halifax, NS, Canada. 2/09

Comments: To all flatfooted people, wider feet players: please buy a size larger! That would be my advice. I've worn Adidas tennis shoes for the last six years. A few models I've worn are Barricade IV (good shoe, but a little bit clunky), A3 Accelerate (needs some break-in time, but a nice shoe, lacks some ankle support, heel slippage), Feather III (a little narrow, but fast and good grip on a lot of surfaces) and Ultimate Edge (great shoe. Period). And I've never had an issue with the shoe size. And along came the Genius Novak. The size 10 was too tight in the toe box and claws area. I had some break-in issues with the A3 Accelerate. So, I thought this would be similar. Played twice for about two hours and just could not get comfortable. I decided to order a size larger 10, and they are great. The comfort is great, the traction is superb (played on smashcourt, a synthetic clay court) and must say these are indeed the best Adidas shoes I've worn. It needs some break-in time especially the toe flex. But once broken in, it's pure joy. No weight issues whatsoever.
From: Jevon, The Hague, The Netherlands. 1/09

Comments: Just received the shoes from TW. I'm used to Nike, but I have to admit these Genius are Genius. Feels like nike but by far better support!
From: James, NY. 1/09

Comments: The very top eyelet on the inner side of the shoes is covered by a very annoying piece of leather, presumably to cover the laces on funny slides. But getting the lace through is a huge pain. The shoes are great, but I suggest sticking a pen tip through the leather and stretching it out a little bit before getting the lace through, it helped me.
From: Alex, Spring, TX, usa. 1/09

Comments: This shoe does not fit like the most recent barricade. I just put it on, and out of the box it is as stiff as concrete and a bit narrow for an adidas shoe, along with being heavier than jabba the hut. My main gripe though is with the outsole. There is a spot on the outsole where the rubber flares up slightly on the inner part of the foot, right where it says ADiWEAR. This spot creates a bump on the inside of the shoe that is at the ball of the foot. I could barely walk in it for two minutes, let alone play in it. I ordered this shoe hoping for a great new adidas (I have been wearing nike for a long time) but am thoroughly disappointed. Back to Nike.
