Adidas Barricade V Men's Shoes Black/Silver Customer feedback

Comments: These shoes are comfortable and look good. Also very durable. I play about 12 hours a week and have had these shoes for just over a month and I have not noticed any wear in the tread yet. A bit heavy, though.
From: Andrew, Hamilton, New Zealand. 6/08

Comments: I love these shoes. I've had two pair's of IVs and two pairs of IIs and these are my favorite by far, except for the durability. I've worn quite a large spot through the rubber under the toe in about two months. I only play about an hour at least 5 days a week. Their definitely more snug and comfortable, and lighter, and higher performance than the IVs and even the IIs, but not more durable than the IIs, in my experience. They look the best too. If only Adidas would use the tread pattern or material from the IIs to make them more durable. Even with a free warranty pair $100+ for about 5 months of play is too much. If money is not much of an issue, then I highly recommend them.
From: Anon. 6/08

Comments: I just got this shoe and wore it around the house. They had a short break-in period. They're comfortable, stable, and look great. I can't tell now, but I'm sure durability is good too. They look so nice I dont want to get the white part of it dirty. Overall great shoe 9.5/10
From: Minsong, Diamond Bar, CA, USA. 6/08

Comments: It feels similar to the Barricade IVs, but feel noticeably lighter. Durability remains similar. While I love these shoes, they will wear out with reasonable play. Both my fiancee (3.5ish) and I (5.0ish) wear these shoes out well within the 6 months. Seeing that I wear out every other pair of shoes just as quickly if not more so, the 6-month warranty justifies the rather expensive price.
From: W, Rochester, NY, USA. 6/08

Comments: Decent shoe. At first, my feet were slipping all over the place in them- mostly my heel. I had to use the last set of lace holes closest to the tongue in order for my foot to feel secure. After that, I was pretty much happy. Nice traction. The arch doesn't seem to be in the right place to me, though. A little uncomfortable.
From: William, Pontotoc, Mississippi. 6/08

Comments: I had a pair of the Barricade I several years ago and found them to be very stiff and hard to break in. In spite of that, I purchased the Barricade V. To me it seems like the same shoe. It looks great and the wear resistance has been good so far but this shoe remains uncomfortable. After at least 10 matches they still do not feel broken in. This is one of the most expensive shoes out there. For the money these should be perfect and they are not. If you want a shoe that looks great, this is it. If you want a comfortable shoe, look elsewhere.
From: Steve, Napa, Ca. 6/08

Comments: Good shoe. The IVs are much more comfortable and last longer. The Vs have a little discomfort around the toe area. I bought my Vs in March, and midway through May they were done. I play 3-4 hrs, 3-4 times a week - 5.5 player.
From: Greg, Lancaster, CA. USA 5/08

Comments: Great shoe, I used Barricade IVs for about 8 months, and they were excellent. I've been using these for about 3 weeks now, and I've had no blisters or any irritations. Plus they are pretty much the coolest looking tennis shoes I have ever seen.
From: Kenny, Clemson, SC, US. 5/08

Comments: This is a comfortable shoe, but the eyelets break off. I lost 5 of 6 on the left shoe and had to Gorilla Glue the eyelets back on. It would seem materials used were "engineered for the task." All play is on clay surface, and I rotate 3 pair of shoes because of the Florida heat and humidity for this reason. Six months is not a long period of time for a guarantee.
From: Earl, St. Petersburg, FLORIDA, USA. 05/08

Comments: These shoes kill. I'm a junior on the ITF tour and this enclosed tongue just kills my feet. Just came off a tournament final on clay-it was torture to play 5 matches wearing these shoes. Barricade IV was much better, I'm switching to those.
From: PB, 05/08

Comments: A superiorly crafted shoe. A trade-off compared to Barricade IV. The Vs are lighter feeling and give you better cooling at expense of some comfort. Vs feel stiffer and more cramped in the toe box. I've had some pain on the front-outside of the foot after putting in some heavy load lateral maneuvers. The IVs have never been less than 100% comfortable, though did feel less maneuverable....8.5, mid-wide, high arch, 165lbs.
From: Anton V, Staten Island, NY. 5/08

Comments: Great shoes, but I prefer the Barricade IVs. The only big difference with these is that the leather on the inside of each shoe has been replaced with mesh. You'd think the increased mesh would make them more comfortable, but they don't feel as good on my foot as the IVs. It doesn't look as good or feel as balanced either, though they are a touch lighter and breathe a little better. I bought a couple more pairs of IVs.
From: Darin, Richland, WA. 5/08

Comments: I've had the Vs for about a month of playing. It started out great but now I have a major issue with the hard plastic vertical tabs on the outer side of the toe box. They have started to dig into the side of my foot when cutting and stopping. So much so I can't wear them any longer. I even tried cutting the tabs off, but there seems to be something built into the rubber sole as well that was still there and causing pain. Other than that, great shoe that was very comfortable at first. I doubt this is a problem for most, but it's a deal breaker for me. Trying out the Nike Air Max Breathe Free IIs now and so far so good. No tabs!
From: Jim, Houston, Tx. 5/08

Comments: I had the same problem at the tip of these shoes. I tend to drag my right toe a little too much, but I would think that these shoes would last a little longer than two months. I already wore out the soles too. I liked the 4s a little better overall, and a little better for the money as well.
From: Charlie, Maryland, USA. 5/08

Comments: I've always liked the Barricades and played with IIIs, then IVs. I have a high instep, and the V cuts into my instep on the right foot, so far defying a solution and making playing with the shoe uncomfortable. My coach said that another one of his players has the same complaint about the Vs. So, I'm going to buy some IVs while they're still available.
From: Paul, Los Angeles, CA. 5/08

Comments: I have had these shoes for a month, and they have already worn out. I have burned a whole in the tip of my shoe and that shouldn't happen so quickly. Overall I was pretty disappointed with these shoes.
From: Tyler, Richmond, VA. 5/08

Comments: Great shoe, but honestly I wore through them in about a month. Gotta love the warranty, though!
From: Alex, Bridgewater, NJ. 4/08

Comments: These shoes are by far the best shoes on the market. I tried Babolat Propulse, and they killed my feet, and the shock was terrible. These barley require any break-in, maybe 30 minutes. Traction's great; my feet never hurt. These are the best shoes possibly ever made.
From: Joe, Palos Park, IL. 4/08

Comments: I just picked up a pair of these in Black with green trim (they are so ugly it hurts!!!) and I think that they are the best shoes I have ever used. The only other types that come close are the Asics Revelations and the Lotto Raptor IIs. After coming off the Wilson Opens and the Wilson Tours (both of which were torture) these feel like a dream and more importantly the stability of the shoe is unmatched.
From: Jim, Upstate N.Y., USA, 04/08

Comments: Honestly, I'm not very impressed. I play strong 4.5 tennis as a No. 1 high school player and these shoes didn't last long at all. I got the shoes and used them nearly every day for a month and a half and I've already worn through the outsole. At least I can get the 6-month guarantee on them but I'm definitely going to go and try a different shoe. If you play at the level I play at, you should try and find a more durable shoe.
From: Taylor, Ca, USA. 4/08

Comments: I am fan of the Barricade shoe line; I've tried them all. I wore the Barricade V for about 2 hours of an intense tennis session and my feet burned. The good thing is that they are a little bit lighter than the Barricade IVs, but my foot still slides, and I jam my toes on abrupt stops. Is there a way I can order some Barricade 3s? I think that's the best tennis shoe ever made by Adidas.
From: Brian, Lincoln, NE, USA. 3/08

Comments: These are fantastic! Great traction on court, surprising propulsion for droppers, and incredibly comfortable. It feels like, when tied properly, they mold around my feet! Unfortunately, I wore a hole in the sole in two months. It's not an issue because of the guarantee, but I may buy a second pair to go along with my replaced pair so I can go 4 months without trading in. :P If you're a serious player who wants style, comfort and an excellent shoe overall, treat yourself to the Barricade V.
From: Anon. 3/08

Comments: I play tennis in college, and we got the Barricade Vs for this year's season. They take a bit to wear in but overall a good shoe. They have good support. They aren't the lightest but grip well on hard courts.
From: Josh, Caldwell, NJ, USA. 3/08

Comments: This is a really good shoe. I tried the IVs, very durable but more heavier than the Vs. This shoe is the best I've ever worn. It's very stylish and just as durable as the Barricade IV. Well done, Adidas!
From: Mani, NY. 3/08

Comments: I don't think I'll ever wear another tennis shoe. I can't seem to think of any negatives of this shoe. When switching to these shoes, I did feel like I had to concentrate a little more on moving my feet due to the added weight. However, I was able to move across the court much more quickly overall, due to the unbelievable grip on the court that these shoes have. Very comfortable, with minimal break-in. If you haven't tried any of the previous Barricades, the Vs may definitely be worth a try.
From: Bryson, Honolulu, HI, USA. 3/08

Comments: So I've been wearing Barricades since the IIIs. Personally I think the IVs are the best. Now I got these Vs in the black and lime green, (which by the way are INSANE!!) about 6 weeks ago. I play six, sometimes seven, days a week and at least two or three hours a day. When I first got them they were a bit stiff but not too bad. Just wear a pair of ankle socks and a pair of long socks for the first couple times playing in them so you don't get blisters (which I didn't get but I could feel the rubbing). Other than the short break-in time it takes, I found these to be very comfortable, very durable (I tend to slide a lot), give great ankle support, and are nice and light. I'd give these a 4/5, only because of the break in time.
From: TREVOR, FAIRPORT, NY, USA. 3/08

Comments: Last year, I started out my high school season with Adidas Barricade 4 and Nike Vapor 4. Barricade 4 was comfortable overall but the shoes were too heavy. Since I preferred lighter shoes, I stuck with the Vapor 4. But this year, Barricade V made a great innovation by reducing the weight of the shoes while remaining exact same comfort from the Barricade 4. This is so far the greatest tennis shoes I ever worn! I give this a 5/5 stars
From: Pete, Asheville, NC, USA. 3/08

Comments: I tried Barricades for the first time. Cushioning is great; however, the eyelets gave me cuts on my ankle. The durability isn't that great. Personally the price of this shoe is only worth it because of the warranty. After 2 weeks there are already noticeable marks. I have a hard time not sliding. I slide all the time in these for some reason. The materials are very poor: too much synthetic materials and little natural materials (leather). I am going back to the Nike Vapor series and Cages.
From: Daniel, California, USA. 3/08

Comments: These shoes are great. I really love how they contour to my feet and really hug the court. Unfortunately, little over two months in, I wore through the rubber on the sole near my big toe. I'm still going to keep using them because I freaking love 'em. Get these shoes if you want to bring your shoewear to the next level
From: Alex, Spring, TX, USA, 03/08

Comments: This is a great shoe; it is stable, light and comfortable. For me it had no break-in time. I will see how the durability is, but because it has a 6-month guarantee I think they will be fine.
From: Stuart, Ottawa, ON, Canada. 3/08

Comments: I've played with these shoes twice so far. The major issue for me is that the collar is quite stiff and rubs on the bottom of my inside ankle bone. Same on both sides. I have unlaced the top eyelet on the inside side and will see how it goes. It may take a while for the soreness to go away to give the shoes a fair shake. Other than that, they do require a break-in, unlike my prior Nike Max Breathe Free IIs. I liked the Nikes better, except they wear out quickly and without a true tongue are a bit difficult to put on.
From: David, Atlanta, GA. 3/08

Comments: Wow, these shoes are great, but I felt something in the top of the shoe. My friend said I still had to break it in. I hope that's true, but how long?
From: Justin. 2/08

Comments: I have used Adidas Barricades from the III to the new Vs. The IIIs were good, the IVs were great and for me the Vs are an utter disappointment. The added mesh does help make the shoe lighter, but I find the shoe much less stable and now my heels hurt after playing - never a previous problem with other Barricades. The ankle support is also higher so now when I land or turn they bite into my ankle. For me weight was never a problem, and previous versions felt like slippers, and the comfort was so good. The Vs are much too hard, and after 3 weeks of playing 5 times a week they haven't loosened. I hope Adidas go back to the way they made the IVs or I won't buy them any more. Overall 4/10 ( because they are light and very durable but that's about it)
From: Simon, London, England. 2/08

Comments: I used to wear Nike Air Max Breathe Cage, and they last me 5 months. I decided to try these, and they felt really good right away. The numbers indicate they are heavier, but they felt just right. They don't feel heavy after hours of practice or play. If you play enough tennis, you should develop legs strong enough to handle these shoes. Other feedback about these shoes indicates they're great for durability, not for comfort, but for me they felt pretty comfortable. Last, these shoes do have a 6 months warranty. So you can't go wrong!
From: Al, USA. 2/08

Comments: I have been a faithful Barricade user for years and always look forward to their next release. The Vs seem a bit more narrow and stiffer than the IVs. I have played with them now about 6 times and am still breaking them in. The heel does not seem as bulky as the IVs, and they do feel lighter. I am not completely sold on these and am glad I have another brand new pair of IVs in the closet.
From: Kevin, Ellicott City, Maryland. 2/08

Comments: I am looking for a new pair of shoes. I have used the Nike Air Max Breathe Cage, and I love it. However, durability is bad so I wanted to try these. I had a pair of the Barricade IV and found them heavy and stiff. Are these the same? How do they compare to the IVs?
From: Jimmy, Alabama. 1/08

Comments: All I needed was a day of casual wear and they felt like socks that conform to my feet. Excellent! But they are slightly narrower than the barricade IV, which gives a better break in, in my opinion. They do not pinch your feet unless you get a size too big.
From: Brian, CA, USA, 01/08

Comments: I got these awesome shoes thinking they would be awesome, but they were actually not that great. I am a 4.0 high school player who likes to run down every ball and attempt to hit winners off of it. When I got these shoes the first thing I noticed on the court was that they were heavy. I could not move. Think I might go back to my feather II's of might try the Asics gel resolution.
From: Nick, Roanoke, VA, USA, 01/08

Comments: It is a great shoe. But I am not sure if the V is better than the II. Can any one elaborate on the comparison?
From: Bedazzle, Takoma Park, Maryland, USA. 1/08

Comments: I got these shoes a 6 days ago and they are amazing. They are like the barricade 4 but better. Breaks in less time and feels lighter too. I love these shoes.
From: Tanner, USA, 01/08

Comments: Excellent shoe overall. It offeres great stability, support and fits true-to-size like a glove. The only caution to those considering the black version: the neon green heel is much "brighter" than I anticipated!
From: Walter, Cleveland, OH, USA. 1/08

Comments: Great shoe. It has great overall performance. I've tried a lot of different shoes and Adidas have always made the best shoes. The barricade V is great!
From: Matt, Darwin, NT, Australia. 1/08

Comments: Great shoes. They took around five days of casual wear and around four hours of decently aggressive tennis to get them comfortable. I now love the shoes. They pinched at first, but now that's over. I read that they help with propulsion and sprinting, they do! I can now get to the net from the baseline just in time for the insane slice dropshots my doubles partner throws at me during training. Get the shoes.
From: Alex, Spring, TX, USA. 1/08

Comments: Yes, these are very similar to the IVs but they are also lighter, more versatile, and form better to your feet than the IVs. A shorter break-in period also helps these shoes beat the IVs in my opinion. Overall, the best Barricades Adidas has ever made, and I have played with all the Barricades from I to V several times.
From: Frederick, Newnan, GA, USA. 12/07

Comments: Great shoe. Just as the Barricade IV, it has lots of stability and support. They don't require any break-in period; they are comfortable from the first time. One big plus for me, Adidas make this in a size 16!
From: Oscar, San Diego, CA. 12/07

Comments: Basically it's a great shoe. Overall it's basically the same as the Barricade IVs. I hoped that the new Barricade would be much different, so the similarities somewhat upset me. Overall it's a great shoe that is 99% the same as the BIVs.
From: Chris, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. 12/07

Comments: Great shoe. The durability is excellent. It looks pretty much the same as the IV and acts like it, too. I must admit, this is a darn good shoe.
From: Brian, San Jose, CA, USA. 12/07

Comments: Yes!, this is an overall great shoe! Does it look exactly similar to the Barricade IVs? Yes! Does it give the same performance? Yes! (pretty much)
From: Kumar-Patel, Montclair, New Jersey, USA. 12/07
