Comments: Tried the B6, don't like it (too narrow fit, high arch - not good for my flat feet) ... I will buy a few more pairs of B5 before they discontinue them (I have 6 pairs of B5, at the same time) ...
Comments: The shoes are great. Slightly expensive, but worth it. At first, I was not used to the way they felt, but I quickly got used to them, and it helped my game tremendously. I plan on using these shoes in the future and just bought another pair.
Comments: Best Adidas Barricade's I ever used, If you liked the previous models you are going to love these.
Comments: Still good shoes, but the lateral stability is terrible! I hate that mesh that they have put in the uppers, the little bit of weight reduction is not nearly worth the loss in stability. This shoe is NOT for players over 200 lbs. Sorry Addidas, I loved the previous versions, but you screwed up with these, I will try something else next time.
Comments: Sure, different feet need different shoes, but the Barricades are as good as it gets in the traction and stability dept. The outsoles seem to last a lot longer than the competition, the ride is firm and help you feel the court without that "bouncy" feeling. They are heavy shoes, but it is nothing a serious player can not handle. The only negative comment on this generation is that, I am a heavy foot dragger, and I somehow managed to carve a little hole in the internal part of the shoe, just beneath that funny semicircle of the rubber uppers. Altough the Feather shoes are much better than the Barricades on clay, the Barricades are better than any other brand for clay play. I have tried Ballistec 1.3, Vapor, Resolution, Speed Pro 3 and Alfa II in the last year, they are all good, but still nowhere near the Barricade or Feather.
Comments: I have been wearing barricades since the Barricade 2 came out. Personally, my foot shape and the Barricade foot shape happen to be matched perfectly, and I have had minimal difficulty breaking in each new pair of barricades I have had. My experience with Barricades has always been positive, good durability and traction, cushioning is adequate for me, and I will surely buy a new pair of Barricades to replace the Barricade 5s I'm currently using, when they wear out.
Comments: I am a longtime wearer of the Barricade franchise. Hands down these are more comfortable than the 4's which were like playing tennis in wooden clogs. However, I have already worn the big toe area down almost to my sock. Mind you I've only had them for 3 months now. Even though they are lighter/more flexible than the 4's... as the case with every Barricade, they are still a heavy sneaker. Also no matter how tight I tie them up my foot still moves a little too much for my liking in the sneaker. I had to buy heel liners to stop my heels from feeling like they are coming out the back. This is all while wearing 2 pairs of thick socks and ankle braces. My game is built around speed and footwork. Sad to say I am changing to the Asics Gel Resolution. They have a better fit, better break-in period. They don't last as long as the Barricades but the trade off in not leaving the court with shin splints.
Comments: I play for College... And these are just the best shoes. Short break in period. Great
durability. Trust me, great durability, I do a lot of running and sliding on hard court with the
type of game I have. Overall great shoe
Comments: Forget the brand, it is not important; the fact is that these shoes are the best money can get for a serious player. Yes, they are stiff right out of the box, and if you do not lace them properly you might end with a black toe nail, and cushion is rather firm, but in my opinion, if you are an advanced player this what you need, a shoe that protects your feet, that last more than just a few weeks, that gives you a firm ride so you can feel the court, this shoe is not for an artist, is for a warrior!
Comments: Great Shoe, just bought a pair replacing Nike which are giving me lots of pain problems in my feet and body! These shoes are perfect as I play most in clay courts. Never wore Adidas tennis shoes, but there is always a first time!
Comments: I'm a 3-2.5 NTP player. Have been using New Balance CT 1004 BK for the past 1 year. No complaints except that it's little wider for my foot. Bought Adidas Barricade last week and tried at home. It felt like snow boot for some reason...toe area is very tight for my normal shoe size and overall it felt very narrow and tight. Returned it the same day. Went back to New Balance CT 1004 BK. I'm liking it a lot.
Comments: I'm a 3.5 baseliner who had been happy with the Wilson Extreme DST 02s that I had been wearing for the past 5+ years, except for the fact that they wore out quickly (5 months of 2-3 times a week play), and the nagging feeling that I might be missing out on a true performance shoe. So I went with the Barricade Vs. Not that happy so far. The shoes do seem to be wearing longer than my Wilsons. And they are built like a tank and offer pretty good stability, making me a little quicker. The cons: half-a-size smaller than my Wilsons; so-so cushioning (I added a Sorbothane insole); and unnecessary rubber on toe (I don't drag) gave me black toe mentioned by other reviewers. Will now look for a softer shoe.
Comments: People say these are super durable, but I wore a hole all the way through in 2 months, but with the Nike Ballistecs and Prince T series it takes 4 months.
Comments: UNIMPRESSED WITH CUSHIONING! For their flagship, and after two months I won't wear them anymore as I am receiving knee pain from it's pathetic padding. I KNOW there be zero Adiprene up front. False marketing as with the vaunted 'Adiwear 6' which is a joke as well. The pivot point is near the disappearing stage and I lost a small chunk of it off the toecap! DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE! Extremely wide forefoot. Need 2 pairs of socks and they still don't fit. These are a noncushioned JOKE!
Comments: Great shoes. Probably the most durable shoes on the market. Stiff at first, but you will have no trouble at all in getting used to these pair. Good job, adidas!!!
Comments: Loving this shoe! I needed a replacement for the discontinued CC Boom, and turned to the Barricade V, Adidas' standard. Shoe is a bit stiff at first, but loosens up quickly. Fit is snug without being tight. My foot is a bit wide, and sometimes that can create issues (the CC Booms needed a significant break-in), but the Barricades are of a medium width that doesn't bother me in the slightest. They don't feel too heavy on court, as some others have mentioned. Traction is great. To summarize, I really can't find a single thing wrong with this shoe. Love 'em! Looking forward to buying my next pair in a few years.

Comments: These shoes, for me are the best.I play every day 25 hrs aweek on the court.I've had my barricades 5's for 5 months now and its time for a new pair.Starting to get a hole on the sole of my left toe. Well worth the money, I wish they'd last longer."LOL"
Comments: I've had these about 1 1/2 months now and play a few times
per week. I am 6' 0" and 195 lbs with a thick/widish size 11 foot.
They are my first dedicated "tennis" shoe. I come from the world of
running and basketball shoes. I previously used cross-trainers for
tennis, but since I started playing in a league last year I blew
through 3 pairs way too quick.
Durability: Great so far with almost no discernable wear. Oddly the
only place I see a little wear is on the heel grip bars at the very
back; forefoot and toe look excellent. Grip and stability are also
excellent; I feel very quick in these shoes.
Comfort: If these are considered cushy compared to other tennis shoes
I'd hate to try the others. (Actually, I did try on some New
Balance...very hard). They are pretty comfortable but they are not
cushy IMO. The heels feel pretty cushioned I guess but not the
forefoot, which may be why they feel quick though.
Fit: The arch is a little forward for my foot and the forefoot space
is pretty snug for my thick foot, but again, the snug fit keeps my
foot from sliding around and along w/ the great grip gives a quick
feeling. The heel actually feels a little loose, but I have zero
blister issues. They are fine for a 2 or 3 hours of tennis, but I
wouldn't choose them to walk around town or go on a hike comfortwise.
Construction: Very solid, you feel like you are putting on a quality
shoe. I am a bit of a toe dragger and that area is well protected.
Laces are fine and not too long or short.
Color: I got the crazy Michael Jackson silver b/c they were on sale
and in stock at TW. Not my favorite by any means, but its a tool for
me so not a big deal. I'm 45, fashion is way down on my list these
days.
I would buy again based on court grip and wear, but will at least try
on some other brands/models next time.
Comments: Felt very odd out of the box, heel felt too elevated. Sizing was also odd -- had to get these one full size higher than my normal size. That being said, after I broke them in they've been great. I have a wide foot, and these shoes are comfortable. A durable shoe so far, haven't shown any signs of wear. A little miffed that the much-better-looking black/white version came out a couple weeks after I bought these black/silver ones...but I'll pick those up after I wear these out.
Comments: Great shoes. I used to buy middle range type shoes, like some Filas and had some blisters under my feet. I was hesitating to get the Barricade at first because of the price (could have gotten two other pairs for the price of these ones), but I don't regret the investment. I know people feet are different, but these are perfect for me. Good durability, good support, really comfy and didn't even remember the break in time.
Comments: They are hurting my toes every time I play. Sometime more sometime less depending how intensive the game is. I got 2 black nails few months ago after playing tough game and it happened to me this weekend. Right toe is still hurting me and left is becoming already black. Some other players wrote about the same problem. I would stay away from this shoes. Why pay $120 and take chances of hurting your feet. Trust me you would pay $500 or more not to get black nails. It hurts a lot and you can't play for quite some time. I'm done with them. $120 is wasted.
Comments: These shoes are amazing! A must buy for anybody who plays a lot of tennis!
Comments: I've been battling plantar fasciitis (causing heel/arch pain) for about a year now and have tried a multitude of shoes to help alleviate the problem. Of all of them, the Barricades provide the greatest support...resulting in little if any pain after play. I substitute the factory insole with an orthotic, but other than that, they are right out of the box. A keeper for me!
Comments: I love these shoes. At break in period my left feet was in total pain, but my right was okay for some reason. After break in period, this became a beast. Awesome grip, stability, comfort, and durability. My minor issues as the arch. I had to use my own insoles and it became even better. Although one of the heaviest shoes out there, I have no weight issues. Can't even tell if this was 10oz or 17oz. If you think this is too heavy for you, then you have weak leg muscles. Don't complain, work out and run more. I hear people complain with durability issues as well. I think the durability on these BV far excel than any other. More weight = more material = longer wear. If these are doing poor for you in durability, I honest think it's your footwork. I'm a lot faster than all my friends and don't find myself doing any kind of toe drag or slide. Good for indoor too. I wouldn't mind getting a second pair, but I do wanna try out the latest Vapor someday.
Comments: Not a fan. They are durable but they are killing my toes. My toes keeps jamming into the front of the shoe. I've not had this problem prior with other brands. Going back to Prince.
Comments: These shoes were so positively reviewed that I expected to really like them. I have had them for a month and have worn them for sufficient time for them to have broken in. They are very uncomfortable for me. They hurt the top of my feet (despite trying different tensions and configurations on the laces.) The traction is good, but the shoes feel a bit sloshy (yes the fit is fine.) Cushioning is good. I guess the arch doesn't match my foot that well, because after extended play, the bottom of my foot cramps a bit.
Comments: My first Adidas shoes in a long time. They are a little stiffer than I'm used to out of the box but that was expected from the reviews. My heel slipped wearing them around to break them in but that stopped by the end of the first day. On the court the grip is great allowing me excellent acceleration and change of direction. Support is good. I have a thick foot so the width is a bit snug, but
not bad. I think they will continue to loosen up. I prefer a bit snug to sliding in a tennis shoe anyway. Cushion was okay, I wouldn't say they are overly cushy...but maybe that will improve with time and break-in as well. Too early to comment on durability.
Comments: I've been playing for about 7 years and I've been to all kinds of events. Thank God these shoes come with a 6 month deal. These shoes are the only ones that a suitable for my rough style of play. I'd prefer if the build up the inside of the shoe to be more durable. Otherwise these shoes are great on mostly all surfaces, besides grass. The only thing is this shoe may not be good for those feet draggers out there. This is definitely a great shoe for those aggressive players like myself. Definitely a great buy. I can't wait to see what the next barricades will be like. Great work, adidas!
Comments: Great shoes, I'm a big guy over 200 lbs+ and the shoes were quite comfy, yes they did take about 2 hours of playing to break them in (did hurt a bit during break in period). Did not find them to be heavy as most people have posted, all in all some great shoes.
Diego, Pittsburgh, PA, usa. 7/09
Comments: Simply awesome comfort traction and support. Tad bit heavy, break in minimum. These folks that say it took a long time and were stiff I think are full of......
Overall super shoe.=
Have had Nike Vapor V and VI, Diadora Speed-Pros and Adidas Feathers and Barricade IV.
Best is the: the Adidas Barricade
Comments: For years my knees have bothered me because my feet are rather flat. Most shoes had arches that were either too flat or too high inside. These shoes are perfect for me and I have not had any knee pain since.
Comments: I bought them last year, and I've been extremely happy with them. So, why not leave a note? My feet and ankles feel secure when I'm wearing these shoes. I couldn't imagine such a great fit. They're worth every penny. I love them. Too bad you don't sell the black/green anymore. I would have bought a 2nd pair.
Comments: The shoe looks incredible and its pretty durable. Except I have a problem with wearing out the side of the toe, but I do that with all my shoes except the barricade 1. Its pretty heavy too, but that's cuz of durability. I had a huge issue with the comfort however, these shoes seem to give me blisters in weird places in the toes.
Comments: Great shoe! I had the previous version of the barricades and wore them out in literally a month. I have been on the court for at least 2 hours a day with these shoes for approx. a month and there is slight signs of wear towards the front of the shoe. Overall, a very comfortable shoe, maybe heavier than the last version, but not by much. The design is pretty nice too.
Comments: Got my first pair of Barricade V after 3 pairs of Barricade IV. They are every bit as good, even a little lighter than the IV. For those who have had issues whith holes-SEND THEM BACK! They come with a 6 month outsole warranty. They are great shoes, I will continue to buy them.
Comments: These shoes were heavy, but you get used to the weight quickly. Unfortunately, by the time you're used to the weight, you've probably ripped a good-sized hole through the front of your shoes. I play in these shoes 3-4 times a week, but never wear them outside the tennis court. Still, I've ripped an enormous hole through every layer of the bottom of the
shoe up by my toes. Reluctant to throw them out, I tried to keep playing - but every day I'd come home with ripped socks and cuts on the bottom of my feet. I can literally put my hand through what used to be the front of each shoe. The older barricades were far more durable! I've never seen such an expensive shoe get torn up by ordinary tennis courts.
Comments: Not sure why I dodged the Barricade series of shoes for as long as I did. I've owned numerous shoes from Babolat Propulse to Nike Cage, and this shoe is much better in build quality - hands down. Fits the foot like a glove, is supportive where support is needed, and feels like it will last forever. Even though it's on the "heavy" side, I feel much more agile with this pair. If you haven't picked up a pair of these, promptly "add to cart".
Comments: I play about every day of the week 2-4 hours depending on practice. Had these for 2 months and burnt a hole through them so you can see my toe. Wore them for another month because I wanted to get my money's worth. I played singles and fell flat on my butt because it lost all of its traction. Overall good shoe, but I think this shoe is overrated. My "pinky knuckle" on my right foot was hurting due to the aesthetics of the shoe. The three clip looking parts are painful. I would think that this shoe would last me a bit longer, but better 2 months than two weeks with the Wilson shoes I buy at Big 5. But to be fair, it was very comfortable otherwise, formfitting, and has a very loose yet supportive feel to it. I would say to wear this shoe for casual wear or it won't last you.
Comments: I would have to say for the price you pay for tennis shoes, the Barricade V is the best investment. The comfort and traction from these shoes are amazing. They may be a little heavy, but I don't notice it much. They do require a break in, but nothing to worry about as they only get more comfortable and definitely helps when it comes to wearing them more. Get them!
Comments: This is my first time playing with high-quality shoes (determined by the price I payed) and I have to say, I am quite impressed. I have been wearing these for a month already and no signs of early wear on the toebox. I expected these to be severely heavy but it's nothing to gripe over. However, you do feel the weight in the humid California weather these days. In sum, I think the Barricade line is the go-to shoe.
Comments: I've been wearing these shoes since the summer of 2008, and it is great! It is comfortable and the shoes are well made. Usually, when I get a new shoes, it starts to tear within a month or two, but Barricade V doesn't have a single tear or scratch after 12 months. The only thing that bothered me was the weight of the shoes. It was hard to run in them when I first got them.
Comments: These shoes are the best. The traction is great, the durability superb, and the comfort is outstanding. Thought they would be hard on your feet but I was wrong.
Comments: This shoe is ok for a player who hits 3-4 times a week. But overall this shoe is unpleasing to my feet. This is my second pair and I am pretty much used to it but could use a little more traction because these shoes keep slipping on hard courts. Also, the weight on this shoe is a little too heavy and the midsole is too tight. I would rate this shoe an 8.5/10
Comments: Fantastic shoe! Just a bit heavy, I bought the old barricade 5's and they are sure a long lasting shoe, I play almost every day and these shoes lasted me around a year befor growing out of them, great shoe!
Comments: The only thing I got annoyed with after a while was wearing the same shoe for almost 8 months. It also sometimes pinches the top of your toe if you have never worn Barricades before. Excellent for toe-draggers.
Comments: I play every single day on hard courts, and I've had these for 3 months, and they are still great. If you like the Barricade IV, then this shoe is for you. It is a bit heavier, but you can't even notice, they do require some break in time, though. This is the greatest Barricade yet, and they look cool too.
Comments: The shoe is light and fairly comfortable after the break-in. However, due to the thick sole and its adhesive quality on hard surface, I felt like walking a tight rope. I don't think they offer much support overall. I ended-up twisting my ankle. I am going back to NB 803's.
Comments: Just got these and played twice this weekend. Love these shoes. Great support and comfort. Thank God for Tennis Warehouse... the tennis shoe selection at local sports retailers is just abysmal.
Comments: These shoes take quite a while to break in, but after that they feel good. The heels sometimes hurt if you have to do a lot of running in them, but overall, a great shoe.
Comments: I bought these shoes 3 months ago, and I already see a hole on tip of the each shoe. I play 3 times a week on hard court. I am also highly disappointed in Adidas Barricade V.
Comments: I had worn Barricade IIs, and I really liked those. However, with extended play time hurt my feet just a bit. With these Barricade Vs, the extended playtime pain went away, yet another came in. I find a very stiff feeling across the top of my feet closer to my toes, a little discomfort when I'm on my toes or changing direction quickly. As with all these other feedback I'm assured it's just the break in issue, so hopefully in time it will get better. (I have been training with them on for about 2 weeks so far) don't wear these fresh to a match!
Comments: Best shoe I have ever used. I am a senior in high school and about 220 lbs and I used to buy a new pair of shoes each month. These are the only shoes that have lasted me more then a month and they are very comfortable. I would recommend these to anybody wanting to play tennis.
Comments: I am really happy with these shoes overall. There are a few weaknesses, however. The mesh around the heel is a little mushy for my taste. I understand the concern about keeping them light and somewhat flexible, but around the heel it is too flexible right now. I like the stability of the shoe, being more solid and stiff than the Nikes, but I would welcome a slightly stiffer ride. The forefoot is also just a tad too wide, but otherwise fits perfect! My foot slides around just a little. I was wearing the Adidas Feather, which fits perfectly like a glove, but doesn't have the stability or padding of the Barricade so I switched. Nonetheless, Adidas is the best tennis shoe on the market. I am very happy with these shoes.
Comments: I recently switched from Nike Air Zoom Vapors, and this shoe is awesome. It is
way better. They are comfortable and light.
Comments: After reading the comments and the review, I was expecting a painful and long break in. However, the first day I practiced with these shoes, my feet were fine. Great stability, good durability so far, and excellent cosmetics. My only complaint would be the very slight poking feeling on the left shoe (Happens to me with every tennis shoe because my left foot is slightly larger). I highly recommend this shoe!
Comments: I got attracted to the Barricades early in 2004 and the looks made me buy my first pair then. Since then if there has been a sports shoe that has been of some substance and great design it has been the "Barricade" series, and V has laid the foundation for even better expectation and design. It's the perfect blend of style and comfort.
Comments: Well, I was originally an all Nike kind of guy, but when this year's shoes came
out (Court Ballistecs I heard were worst Nike shoe ever). I decided to make the jump to Adidas. I think I made the right choice. I currently have a pair of Cage 2s, which are probably the best Nikes ever, but they are totally blow out right now with a hole in the sole. The Barricade 5s have amazing comfort and ventilation along with great support. Unless Nike thinks up some new shoes, I am gonna stick with Adidas.
Comments: Used Barricade 4 for almost a year. Found Barricade 5 much lighter, less bulky & easier to break in. Have used also Barricade 3 which was my first. Generally Barricade models good for hard courts. For clay or softer surfaces that requires sliding, suggest you try something else. Have a back up shoe.
Comments: I've always been a Nike guy, but my first "performance" tennis shoes were the Barricade II's. There after I went to the low to the ground feel of two vapor generations, and asics gel resolutions. These shoes were light, but offered little durability, and it matters when your equipment is supposed to last when on a tight budget. After my last shoes (Nike air zoom trainers), I decided to get these barricades. I would have thought them to be clumpy and heavy, but it was the opposite. These weren't vapors by any means but they offer the grip any type of players needs. They felt very secure and it was a snug fit (opposite to the zoom trainers), and brought back memories of the movement I was able to produce with the vapors. I suggest you try these out, especially since you can get them for less than $100 with the 6 month. I don't know, I like them.
Comments: Best shoe ever, it snugs to my feet making me feel more secure when playing with them, and best of all the color(black/yellow), true the break-in period is a bit long(about a week for me)but then they are worth wearing. thanks Adidas another great product.
Comments: These are great looking shoes. Well-made; they have great traction on the ground. However, they are pretty uncomfortable. I've been wearing them a while and they look great when on, but after a while they hurt! They are quite clumpy feeling. My other shoes are Nike cage shoes they are much better for me, they are quite a lot lighter as well.
Comments: This is one of the best shoes. It has great durability, great comfort and they are light weight.
Comments: Long time Barricade user, I tried other brands and models but none compare to the Barricade. The V is no exception as it is a beautiful, sturdy, high quality, comfortable shoe. The Barricade IIs were some of the best shoes ever made. The Barricade IIIs were garbage (when compared to II and V) causing pain in top of foot when tied tight and also sole separated from shoe around edges of forefoot.
The V is snug and sturdy offering plenty of support and comfort. I feel confident of my footing and traction when wearing these. Adidas sets the bar and a high one at that. I've worn Wilson, Prince, and Nike and while they aren't bad shoes (except for Prince they are trash) they just don't compare to the Barricade.
Comments: Nothing compared to the Barricade IVs. Extremely flimsy after a while, and there's a horrible break in. It may look a lot cooler, but this is overall a very great disappointment. Bring back the Barricade IVs.
Comments: I have to admit that these are great looking shoes but they hurt my feet. I loved Barricade III and IV and no problem with feet pain. But V is giving too much pressure on the medial side of my feet and giving pain on the bottom of my feet. I have 3 people with same kind of complaints with V. All of the loved IV. Now I cannot find IV anywhere. I am in big trouble. I have to find another shoes. None of them will be like Barricade IV. I hope they correct this problem with Barricade VI.
Comments: The Barricade is like the player racket of shoes. It's heavy and not the most
versatile shoe on the court but when it comes swinging around magic happens. If you were to buy this shoe I'd buy a second lighter backup pair for on a bad day this shoes can feel like lead but on a good day these shoes are, in my opinion, the greatest possible shoe choice of today.
Comments: The V finally convinced me to try a different brand. I've liked the Barricade line since the II's but this shoe is crummy. After more than 20 hours on court they're not broken in and I've had more blisters than ever before. Thanks but no thanks. Bring back the IV.
Comments: I just played a 3 set match yesterday in my Barricade IV Stars and Stripes after having played a couple of matches wearing the Vs, and I have to say that the IVs are more comfortable. It's strange, but the Vs SEEM more roomy in the toe area but when playing they feel too snug after playing a set or so.
Comments: These shoes were one of the best shoes I've owned they're comfortable and lighter that the Barricade 4. They have lasted me a long time and I love them.
Comments: The worse line yet! I feel like I have blisters on my toes after each match. Also the tongue hurts when you lace up tightly and sits weird in the shoe. Poor construction and quality control. Don't waist your money. A down grade from the IV's.
Comments: I have been wearing the Barricades for ages. Was given the Breathe 2 for free demo by NIKE but it flopped BIG TIME! I kind of understand the sentiments of many - but comments are very much dependent on your type of feet and style of play; also your weight. Nikes dont cut it for me. More made for running as it lacks the stability and support for lateral movements in tennis. So, thumbs up for Barricades! This version is softer and breatheable than ever before! The only gripes I have of this version is that it attracts dirt in the breathable mesh - SO DON'T GET WHITES! And they dont last as long - but hey, these arent Guccis or Ferragamos! Buy new ones once they wear off. IT SURE IS WORTH THE PRICE.
(PS. It is a lot cheaper here in Singapore!)
Comments: These shoes were really clunky at first but they are ok after broken in. The problem is that when I tie them tightly, the tongue digs into the bone on the top of your foot and hurts really bad. I have to tie them loose to play.
Comments: As a highly competitive junior, I go through countless pairs of shoes. At least one or two every month. I used to wear Wilson shoes I got from my tennis club. I wore holes through the soles in no time. Then, I switched to the Adidas Accelerator a3's. They sole didn't wear out, but the toe ripped wide open. Finally, I decided to suck it up and spend the extra money to get the Barricade V's. Let me tell you, they are well worth the money. I wouldn't wear any other shoe.
Comments: Extremely good shoe! The durability is amazing but it is heavy... highly recommended though....
Comments: These shoes are extremely durable and have a great feel about them after you break them in... and during that break-in period expect a ridiculous amount of pain and suffering. These things are built like tanks; ridiculously durable and heavy enough to matter. Consider the barricades the "poly strings" of tennis shoes. They'll cause some pain and will force you to adapt the way you play but after you break them and get used to them in you'll find a state of nirvana. But if you're not up to the long, arduous break in, and are nimble and light on your feet, just go with Nike.
Comments: As a long time Nike user, I decided to make the switch to the much acclaimed Barricade 5...worst decision I have made in tennis. Shoe is unbearably stiff and after about 2 months and around 40 hours of wear, the shoe feels and plays like it came out of the box. I recently suffered a stress injury to my foot and my doctor, after examining my feet and comparing the Vs to my old Breathe Free IIs, determined that the switch to the overly stiff Vs likely caused the injury. This shoe is definitely not for everyone. Adidas is a fine company but apparently not for me. Nike for life.
Comments: These shoes HURT MY FEET. Yes I realize there is fair break in period but I've had these shoes for 2 months. I still get that, "breaking in" feeling even though I'm on the court every day for a couple of hours; durability is pretty good. I'm usually through a pair by now but these are holding up all right. Pretty heavy and clunky but I guess that's the price you pay for support.
Comments:This is my first shoe from the Barricade line and the shoes are great - after a long break-in that is. Stability is top notch so flexibility suffers a bit but it's no biggie really since you will get used to it. The weight didn't turn out to be factor (at least for me) and fit is good. Cushioning is quite firm but I think this is due to the performance-oriented nature of the shoe. For comparison, my old shoes were K-Swiss Ultrascendors. Those fit like a glove and were quite light and flexible but did not feel anywhere near as stable. They provided slightly more cushioning than the Barricades.
Comments:It's a really good type of shoe! While wearing these shoes I run like 2 times faster and I'm a really slow person. It's also very comfortable.
Comments:I got these shoes about a week ago and I'm amazed. These things are AWESOME. I got the shanghai black/gold and they look great and feel as good as they look. The break in period is a little bit long. I hit in them about three times and wore them to school twice to get a good break in. It was definitely worth it.
Comments: These are the best shoes on the market. Some people complain about the weight, but I would say, if that is your problem go to the gym and workout so you won't notice the additional weight. Extreme lateral stability, especially when running down droppers from the back court or going side to side. Extremely long wearing, just like the b4s but slightly lighter. I have 3 pairs.
Comments: This is just one incredible shoe, especially in the all black color! the cushioning and fit is excellent, but they do require a short break-in, just to get used to them. After that however, these shoes are heavenly. sole is incredibly durable. BEST TENNIS SHOES EVER MADE!!!
Comments: After paying $109 plus shipping and handling, this Barricade V is
overrated and over priced. With the Barricade II on back order, I decided to try the new, improved...this V will never replace the Barricade II for immediate comfort and months of durability...hands down.
Comments: I have been wearing Barricades since the very first model and always love them for a nice match or practice shoe. The Vs are another great model as far as comfort and playability go. The downside is that they are not as durable as advertised. 6 weeks is not long enough for me. Hopefully Adidas can make their 'durable' shoes somewhat durable. I am a 5.5 player and teach and play in them a lot, but give me some more life to the shoes, their too expensive even with the free pair!
Comments: These are probably the best tennis shoes on the market! Balance is amazing, probably the best part of this shoes. The support it has on the ankle makes you feel more confident when attacking the shots and when you have to make hard breaks (specially on hard courts). On clay, they offer a great stability while slicing over the surface. They are very light and comfortable, so it shouldn't be a problem when you are playing a very intense match or a long one (both shouldn't be a problem either).
Comments: Very comfortable shoe, and they look great too. Great traction and stability, and no feet/ankle problems. Durability was decent. Playing every day or every other day I wore these out in 2 months. A little disappointed with the durability due to all the hype, but a great shoe nonetheless. At least I have a replacement pair coming, haha.
Comments: Not good! Very stiff and clunky...too much weight and not enough cushioning or give. Also they do not breathe at all. Like wearing plastic. Inferno feet! I haven't been able to suffer through the "break-in period" -- I will retire these dreadful things after 3 matches and go back to K-Swiss comfort.
Comments: These shoes were a little too heavy for me. They worked well, but after a couple hours, I could feel the shoes getting heavier. Also, the inside of the shoe gets scraped very easily, which is kinda annoying. I recommend the Nike Breathe Cage II.
Comments: They run a little short in size. I have played IIIs and IVs and a 10 1/2 was perfect for my 'tweener feet. Often 11s feel a little boaty so I try for 10 1/2. Like I say, the previous models were great, this one is disappointing because quick stops ram my toes into the end. I played 4 or 5 sets on a court that was NOT very hard and by the end of the day, blisters on the ends of my middle and big toes. I may have to give these away or keep as a knock around pair, but they won't work for actual play. Too bad, they look great. The heel cup design may force feet too far forward.
Comments: I really have enjoyed these shoes. They are so comfortable and play very consistently. The only downside is the way they attract dirt on the breathable parts. I don't see me wearing them out anytime soon.
Comments: These shoes were not as good as the IVs. These shoes didn't seem to grip the
court as well as the IVs. Also these shoes are a little on the heavy side.
Comments: The Barricade V is by far the most durable and sharpest looking out of all the Barricades. I noticed very quickly how light and streamlined they were compared to the previous model and how quickly I was able to break them in. I play about 4 times a week and after about 4 months I can hardly notice any wear. These are great shoes if you're a serious 4.0+ player, otherwise I would recommend a lighter shoe, probably the Adidas CC Feathers. I switched to these after trying out various Nike models including Federer's and Nadal's shoes. I found the Federer Air Vapors too narrow and pointy in the toe box and way too stiff in the heal for hard-courts. And although the Nadal Air Breathes are very light and offer much ventilation, I noticed that they were more "pretty" than functional. All my experimentation has lead me to the Barricade Vs, which have more than won me over and will continue to have a great fan base for many years to come.
Comments: This shoe is sweet, takes about half an hour to break in. I went with the black and yellow, and I do not regret it! They feel great on the court. They are just as great as the IVs (if not better)!
Comments: I'm very disappointed in this update. My main complaint is that, unlike the Barricade IV which had its flex-point close to the toe (in the first 1/3rd of the shoe), the new version V flexes far too near the centre of the shoe. As foot specialists point out, the further toward its centre a shoe flexes, the worse it is for your foot. Given that it is geared toward those playing on hard-courts (a surface much tougher on the foot than grass or clay) the extra flex makes it an inappropriate choice and somewhat undermines the reputation it has built over the years. It would appear that, in making the Barricade V a softer fit they've diluted one of its key attributes. The fit is still as good as ever and stability is still excellent but it can no longer be considered one of the best in terms of foot support.
Comments: Out of box comfort was amazing. Great Shoes. I play about four hours a day. Six days a week. Great Shoe. Lasts long.
Comments: I've played IIIs, IVs and now these Vs. I love the IVs. Thought the Vs would be only better. They are not for me. I cuss these shoes a lot because they don't bite the court like my IVs. I slip far to often on abrupt change of direction. I also don't find them quite as supportive as the IVs. If you are a very aggressive player who covers lots of court, I'd recommend the IVs over the Vs all day. If you're fairly casual in your style of play, you may prefer the lightness and breathability of the Vs. I'm gonna buy some more IVs and just use these for social play.
Comments: I don't know if it was just a bad batch of shoes I got or something, but I got these after a month of them being out and they literally lasted me 2 weeks and 1 day. I played about 4 hours a day, give or take an hour or two, but they just did not last. And they broke really badly too. Also I played probably 45% on clay, and hard court shoes should not wear out on clay.
Comments: In terms of cushioning and durability, I fully agree with Daniel from California.
Comments: I love these shoes. The 6 month durability guarantee is great!
Comments: I have played with the IVs (3 pairs) and was excited to try the much hyped Vs... big disappointment. The narrow toe box is very uncomfortable and my heel slipped so much while moving forward for a short ball while playing doubles yesterday that I thought my foot would completely come out of the shoe. I am hoping the IVs come back into production or I may return to Nike!
Comments: Great shoes, comfortable, not too bulky, unmatched durability. I had the IIs before, and these are lighter and feel sleeker, not as pillowy.
Comments: Great shoe, snug fit, lots of support and cooler than I thought they'd be. I bought these largely because Adidas stopped production of the Barricade Grass shoe (I'm still upset about this Adidas) but this is a good replacement. And you folks at TW rock, best price on the market and great service.
Comments: These shoes are comfortable and look good. Also very durable. I play about 12 hours a week and have had these shoes for just over a month and I have not noticed any wear in the tread yet. A bit heavy, though.
Comments: I love these shoes. I've had two pair's of IVs and two pairs of IIs and these are my favorite by far, except for the durability. I've worn quite a large spot through the rubber under the toe in about two months. I only play about an hour at least 5 days a week. Their definitely more snug and comfortable, and lighter, and higher performance than the IVs and even the IIs, but not more durable than the IIs, in my experience. They look the best too. If only Adidas would use the tread pattern or material from the IIs to make them more durable. Even with a free warranty pair $100+ for about 5 months of play is too much. If money is not much of an issue, then I highly recommend them.
Comments: I just got this shoe and wore it around the house. They had a short break-in period. They're comfortable, stable, and look great. I can't tell now, but I'm sure durability is good too. They look so nice I don't want to get the white part of it dirty. Overall great shoe 9.5/10
Comments: It feels similar to the Barricade IVs, but feel noticeably lighter. Durability remains similar. While I love these shoes, they will wear out with reasonable play. Both my fiancee (3.5ish) and I (5.0ish) wear these shoes out well within the 6 months. Seeing that I wear out every other pair of shoes just as quickly if not more so, the 6-month warranty justifies the rather expensive price.
Comments: Decent shoe. At first, my feet were slipping all over the place in them- mostly my heel. I had to use the last set of lace holes closest to the tongue in order for my foot to feel secure. After that, I was pretty much happy. Nice traction. The arch doesn't seem to be in the right place to me, though. A little uncomfortable.
Comments: I had a pair of the Barricade I several years ago and found them to be very stiff and hard to break in. In spite of that, I purchased the Barricade V. To me it seems like the same shoe. It looks great and the wear resistance has been good so far but this shoe remains uncomfortable. After at least 10 matches they still do not feel broken in. This is one of the most expensive shoes out there. For the money these should be perfect and they are not. If you want a shoe that looks great, this is it. If you want a comfortable shoe, look elsewhere.
Comments: Good shoe. The IVs are much more comfortable and last longer. The Vs have a little discomfort around the toe area. I bought my Vs in March, and midway through May they were done. I play 3-4 hrs, 3-4 times a week - 5.5 player.
Comments: Great shoe, I used Barricade IVs for about 8 months, and they were excellent. I've been using these for about 3 weeks now, and I've had no blisters or any irritations. Plus they are pretty much the coolest looking tennis shoes I have ever seen.
Comments: This is a comfortable shoe, but the eyelets break off. I lost 5 of 6 on the left shoe and had to Gorilla Glue the eyelets back on. It would seem materials used were "engineered for the task." All play is on clay surface, and I rotate 3 pair of shoes because of the Florida heat and humidity for this reason. Six months is not a long period of time for a guarantee.
