A comfortable racquet that offers a nice balance between power and control, the Liquidmetal 5 is a perfect fit for those that found the Liquidmetal 8 too powerful, but would like a little more pop than found in the Liquidmetal 4. The thick beam width and Total Sweetspot Construction technology combine to provide a large sweetspot and a very forgiving and dampened feel. On faster swings we found good access to spin and plenty of pop to keep shots deep. Spin was so plentiful with this racquet, that during our review playtesting even our 5.0 level players found enough control for power groundstroking. At net, the Liquidmetal 5 is maneuverable, while offering a stable and comfortable feel. There's just enough pop to help punch half-volleys to the baseline without sacrificing control on easier, put-a-way volleys. At only 9.5 ounces strung, we found it easy to generate good racquet head speed with the Liquidmetal 5 resulting in plenty of pace and spin. This one is well suited to 3.0 to 4.5 players looking for a powerful 'tweener racquet.
