The big brother to the Aerogel 4D 500, the Aerogel 4D 500 Tour maintains several characteristics of its little brother, but is more substantial. Weighing in at almost an ounce heavier, this stick comes through the ball with more disdain, offering good penetration. Featuring a four-directional braided graphite(4D) wrapped in an aluminum sheath at the 3-5, and 7-9 o'clock positions around the frame, this new technology adds more stability while maintaining feel. Our test squad found the Aerogel 4D 500 Tour to be friendly from all areas of the court. From the baseline, this racquet offers enough mass to hit with pace for more advanced players, while maintaining a manageable swing weight to sustain a good swing during a long hitting session or match. It also offered a nice balance of stability and mobility when at net. This stick provides plenty of options when serving. There is enough pop offered for pace, while the open string pattern can aid in spin for kick and control. Intermediates and advanced players will find this one appealing and worth a demo. Ideally suited for 4.5+ level players.
